[34:26] genealogy found in Matthew
[34:28] and the excitement that's there in that
[34:30] first verse of Matthew chapter 1 verse
[34:33] number one the excitement of what
[34:36] Matthew was trying to get across to his
[34:38] audience his primary audience being the
[34:40] Jewish people there that Jesus is the
[34:43] king he's the
[34:45] Messiah so in Luke chapter 3 we start
[34:48] off in verse number
[34:50] 23 Jesus himself began to be about 30
[34:55] years of age he's starting his Earthly
[34:59] Ministry around the age of
[35:01] 30 being about that
[35:04] age Luke The
[35:09] Physician puts this in as was
[35:17] supposed that
[35:19] means a
[35:22] lot as was supposed he's got in the
[35:28] parenthesis there the reason why is
[35:31] evidently according to history that
[35:34] Joseph had adopted legally
[35:37] Jesus and he had made it public in the
[35:40] temple that he had adopted
[35:44] Jesus according to history Mary's family
[35:47] line had no
[35:50] Sons ended with
[35:52] Mary and then there's Jesus and then her
[35:55] children after that so her father had
[35:57] had no sons and so in Jewish culture
[36:00] they would adopt the son-in-law as part
[36:04] of the family
[36:05] line so this is not a contradiction in
[36:08] scripture when it says that Joseph was
[36:11] the son of Helo because in Matthew it
[36:13] says differently so it's not a
[36:16] contradiction what we find here in Luke
[36:19] chapter 3 is the lineage of
[36:22] Mary this is Mary's lineage she is the
[36:24] daughter of Hal and so it starts off
[36:28] with verses 24 through 31 giving us a a
[36:34] history of the family and we find verses
[36:39] 32 through 34 uh we find the religious
[36:44] line in verses 34 through 38 we find the
[36:48] racial line as we talked about this
[36:51] morning and we also have the Royal line
[36:53] now I want you to understand something
[36:54] we talked about it this morning the
[36:56] kingly line the RO o line stopped with
[36:59] who who' it stop with this
[37:02] morning David was the start and it
[37:05] stopped with Jesus he's the last king no

[38:23] is so all through this genealogy he is
[38:26] presented as the son
[38:28] of the
[38:30] woman so as we read through all this
[38:33] list I want to point out a name
[38:36] where everything changes if you were
[38:38] following along the last genealogy
[38:40] started with Abraham and then worked its
[38:43] way down to
[38:45] Joseph who was the husband of Mary this
[38:48] one starts with Jesus and works its way
[38:49] all the way back to
[38:51] God a little bit different of a setup
[38:55] and the genealogy from Jesus all the way
[38:58] back to
[38:59] David goes back to Nathan the son of
[39:03] David so look at your Bible if you would
[39:06] as we draw attention to it found in
[39:08] verse 31 the son of Malia which was the
[39:11] son of Menan which was the son of MAA
[39:14] which is the son of
[39:16] Nathan which was the son of
[39:21] David Nathan's mom's name is
[39:24] basba her brother's name is his
[39:27] brother's name is Solomon so this is
[39:29] Solomon's brother same father same
[39:34] mother it's his brother
[39:37] Nathan does it appear that he's named
[39:40] after a
[39:42] Nathan like the prophet
[39:44] Nathan who came to David when he sinned
[39:47] and said Thou Art the
[39:51] man it's a
[39:53] reminder of God's call to repent
[39:57] repentance and God's Redeeming
[40:00] Grace with Nathan being the son

[40:14] now in verse 38 it says the son of Adam
[40:18] which was the son of God but Adam wasn't
[40:23] born from God's
[40:25] flesh Adam was made Out of the Dust of
[40:28] the
[40:28] ground so they didn't use the word begat
[40:31] because Adam wasn't born like other
[40:34] people are born Adam was formed not
[40:38] born now the other people are the son of
[40:42] and it carries on now so we got the
[40:46] first adom verse 38 first adom Jesus
[40:49] traces all the way back to the first
[40:52] Adam we see it in our text
[40:55] tonight that kind of reminds me of
[40:58] something in the Book of Romans the book
[41:00] of First
[41:02] Corinthians in fact if you'll put a
[41:04] ribbon here in Luke chapter 3 and go to
[41:06] Romans chapter 5 I'd like to read you a
[41:08] few verses from Romans chapter
[41:15] 5 Romans chapter 5 and verse number
[41:22] 12 Bible says wherefore as by one man
[41:26] sent enter the world and death by sin so
[41:29] death passed upon all men for all have
[41:31] sinned who was the man it was Adam the
[41:34] first one for unto the law sin was in
[41:37] the world but sin is not imputed when
[41:39] there is no law nevertheless death
[41:41] reigned from Adam to Moses even over
[41:44] them that had not sinned after the
[41:46] similitude of Adam's transgression who
[41:48] is the
[41:50] figure of him that was to come but not
[41:53] as offense so also is the free gift for
[41:57] if through the offense of one many be
[42:01] dead much more the grace of God and the
[42:06] gift by Grace which is by one
[42:11] man Jesus Christ hath abounded unto many
[42:16] turn over to First Corinthians chapter

[43:06] sin he paid the penalty for sin he is
[43:11] the seed of the woman in Genesis chapter
[43:14] 3 and verse
[43:16] 15 the Lord pronounces a curse upon the
[43:20] serpent said of put enity between her
[43:23] seed and your seed and he is the seed
[43:27] seed of the woman in Luke chapter 3 we
[43:29] find Jesus he's the seed he's the son of
[43:33] Mary he's the seed of the woman why does
[43:36] it need to be different in Luke 3
[43:39] because God's fulfilling prophecy every
[43:42] step of the way he's picturing what he's
[43:45] coming to do he was born to die so not
[43:50] only do we see in Luke chapter 3 the
[43:52] racial line in verses 34- 38 the
[43:55] religious line and the Royal Line is all
[43:58] there we also find something amazing
[44:01] that's happening here and I call it this
[44:04] tonight I call it the Redemptive line
[44:08] see in Luke chapter 3 you ought to take
[44:10] some courage you ought to recognize that
[44:13] there Adam sinned but God
[44:16] forgave Cain and Abel their situation
[44:20] there but then came along
[44:22] Seth and the generations that followed
[44:25] after guess what happened they begin to
[44:26] see
[44:28] but Noah found Grace in the eyes of the
[44:30] Lord and God rescued
[44:34] Mankind and saved Mankind through the
[44:37] the flood and a picture of Salvation in
[44:40] the ark and saving Mankind and God
[44:44] shutting the
[44:45] door God opening the
[44:48] door but we find here in our Luke 3 text
[44:51] that the first Adam and the second Adam
[44:54] we find he's the seed of the woman
[44:55] according to Genesis 3
[44:58] 315 we find the son of Nathan the
[45:02] transitional character in the text and
[45:05] we find that it all ends with
[45:10] Jesus so why two
[45:13] geneologies we talked about the first
[45:15] one this
[45:19] morning we talked about the struggle
[45:22] that Satan was working on the Royal
[45:25] Line but unbeknownst to Satan is by the
[45:29] way Satan's not all
[45:31] knowing hello he's not all knowing he's
[45:35] not
[45:36] omnipresent he's not omnipotent he's
[45:40] powerful but he's not all
[45:42] powerful and while he's attacking one
[45:45] line through the line of David through
[45:47] Solomon God's got another line the whole
[45:51] time person after person following after
[45:55] the Lord doing that which is right in
[45:57] the eyes of the Lord all the way up to
[46:02] Mary so if Satan tried to say well I got
[46:06] David's line well no you didn't get all
[46:08] of David's
[46:10] line so we find there's this other line
[46:14] but we find in this line God's
[46:17] Redemptive plan is all
[46:20] over all the way back to Adam in the
[46:23] garden the first Adam who brought sin
[46:26] comes all the way to Jesus and it stops
[46:28] there why did it stop there there's no
[46:31] need for anyone else after him he is the
[46:34] second Adam he is the one who's going to
[46:36] cleanse us of all sin he's the one who
[46:39] three years from this time frame is
[46:41] going to go to the
[46:42] Cross he's the one who's going to Die
[46:44] For All
[46:45] Mankind he's going to redeem them he's
[46:48] going to crush Satan's head he is the
[46:51] seed of the woman in other words Luke
[46:54] 3's genealogy is to fulfill prophecy
[46:57] after prophecy after
[46:59] prophecy because
[47:02] God fulfills his word through Jesus
[47:07] Christ he's the seed of the
[47:10] woman as we look through these names
[47:13] here in Luke chapter 3 go back with me
[47:15] if you
[47:20] would when you read those first verses
[47:22] you and I probably don't recognize a lot
[47:24] of names
[47:27] because some of God's greatest work
[47:30] doesn't end up on the
[47:32] Billboards some of the greatest people
[47:34] who will serve the Lord and have an
[47:37] impact on the world you don't know their
[47:39] name and I don't know their
[47:42] name I still to this day don't know the
[47:46] name of the Sunday school teacher who
[47:48] taught the lesson when my parents got
[47:51] saved but I'm thankful that they taught
[47:54] the lesson that they showed up and they
[47:57] had the word of God in their hand and it
[48:00] changed the culture of my family's life
[48:03] I'm thankful for the bus driver and
[48:05] those who went out on visitation and
[48:07] invited my parents to both that two
[48:09] different states to ride the bus and

[55:20] again and when Jesus came to Earth he
[55:24] humbled himself and was born of the Virg
[55:26] Virgin Mary he was the seat of the
[55:30] woman he was the second Adam he was the
[55:34] Redeemer he was the picture fulfillment
[55:37] of Adam in the second Adam he's the
[55:40] Fulfillment of Grace that he found with
[55:42] Noah he's the Fulfillment of providing
[55:45] himself as a lamb as he Abraham did with
[55:49] Isaac fulfilled it
[55:52] all God's Redemptive work is on
