[0:00] urging them to keep law enforcement on
[0:02] high alert at least through the Muslim
[0:04] holy month of Ramadan, which ends
[0:06] mid-December. Ridge said this new
[0:08] warning was in response to communication
[0:10] among suspected terrorists that was
[0:12] intercepted, but that the communication
[0:14] didn't specify where or when the
[0:16] terrorists might strike.
[0:18] The information we have does not point
[0:21] to any specific target either in America
[0:23] or abroad.
[0:25] And it does not outline any specific
[0:27] type of attack.
[0:28] However, the analysts who review this
[0:30] information believe the quantity and
[0:33] level of threats are above the norm.

[0:59] issues like counterterrorism, but this
[1:00] is also in response to a number of
[1:03] blunders over the last year that have
[1:04] gotten a lot of attention. The two
[1:06] biggest being the misplacement of
[1:07] documents related to Oklahoma City
[1:09] bomber Timothy McVeigh, and also the
[1:12] discovery of a Russian spy in their
[1:13] ranks. All right, thanks very much.
[1:15] NBC's Campbell Brown at the White House
[1:17] tonight. Now, let's go to Afghanistan
[1:19] where there are 1,200 Marines on the
[1:21] ground outside of Kandahar ready for
[1:24] action, but still coping with all kinds
[1:27] of adversity.
[1:28] NBC's Jim Miklaszew
