[0:00] million bucks.
[0:06] >> Good morning. March is coming in like a
[0:08] lion on both coasts with the Northeast
[0:10] still bracing for a major winter storm
[0:13] and snowfall of up to 2 feet in some
[0:15] areas and the West Coast expected to be
[0:17] hammered by more heavy wind and rain
[0:19] today, Monday, March the 5th, 2001.
[0:24] [Music]
[0:26] From NBC News, this is Today with Katie
[0:31] Curry and Matt Lowour. Live from Studio
[0:35] 1A in Rockefeller Plaza.
[0:38] >> And welcome to Today on this Monday
[0:39] morning, everyone. I'm Katie Kurrick.
[0:41] >> And I'm Matt Lowour. Not exactly what we
[0:42] expected to wake up to. That lion hasn't
[0:44] exactly started to roar in New York City
[0:46] yet.
[0:47] >> That's right. And the anticipation is
[0:48] really starting to get to me. Meanwhile,
[0:50] the extra time has meant extra
[0:51] preparation time for what is still
[0:53] expected to be a major winter storm. New
[0:55] Jersey's acting governor has already
[0:57] declared a state of emergency there.
[0:59] Schools are closed in many parts of the
[1:00] region, including here in New York City,
[1:02] where as much as a foot of snow is
[1:05] expected by tomorrow morning. Hundreds
[1:07] of flights in and out of the Northeast
[1:08] have been cancelled and stores have been
[1:10] packed with people stocking up on
[1:12] supplies. Moving further to the
[1:14] northeast in Boston, where they still
[1:15] remember the blizzard of 78. Forecasters
[1:17] are saying they could be hit nearly as
[1:19] hard by this storm. With blizzard-like
[1:21] conditions developing this afternoon and
[1:23] 2 feet of snow or more expected there.
[1:26] >> Meanwhile, Al Roker is already outside
[1:28] checking things out. He's got the latest
[1:29] on the st
