[0:00] good morning Bible Baptist Church and

[0:03] welcome to the word of encouragement for

[0:05] this Memorial Day it's so excited to

[0:08] come to you this morning and spend some

[0:09] time talking about our country and those

[0:13] that gave the ultimate sacrifice so that

[0:17] you and I can enjoy the freedoms that we

[0:20] have today so if you would let's talk

[0:23] just a little bit about Americans did

[0:30] you think about it this morning and who

[0:33] Americans are if we look to the answer

[0:39] mister why for so many years we achieved

[0:42] so much prospered as no other people on

[0:45] earth it was because here in this land

[0:48] we unleash the energy and individual

[0:51] genius of man to a greater extent than

[0:53] has ever been done before freedom and

[0:57] the dignity the individual have been

[0:58] more available and assured here than in

[1:02] any other place on earth the price for

[1:05] this freedom at times has been high

[1:08] but we have never been unwilling to pay

[1:11] that price those who say that we're in a

[1:15] time when there are no heroes they just

[1:19] don't know where to look you can see

[1:21] heroes every day going in and out of

[1:24] factory gates you meet heroes across a

[1:27] counter and they're on both sides of

[1:29] that counter

[1:30] there are entrepreneurs with faith in

[1:32] themselves and faith in an idea who

[1:36] create new jobs new wealth and

[1:38] opportunity they're individuals and

[1:40] families whose voluntary gifts support

[1:43] church charity culture art and education

[1:47] their patriotism is quiet but deep their

[1:52] values sustain our national life

[1:55] we must realize that no arson or no

[1:58] weapon in the Arsenal's of the world is

[2:01] so formidable as the will and moral

[2:04] courage

[2:05] a free men and women

[2:07] we are a nation under God and I believe

[2:10] God intended for us to be free the

[2:14] crisis we're facing today does not

[2:16] require of us the kind of sacrifice so

[2:19] many thousands of others were called

[2:20] upon to mate it does require however our

[2:25] best effort and our willingness to

[2:27] believe in ourselves and to believe in

[2:30] our capacity to perform great deeds to

[2:34] believe that together with God's help we

[2:38] can and will resolve the problems which

[2:42] now confront

[2:44] and after all why shouldn't we believe

[2:48] that we are Americans

[2:56] as we think about that this morning

[2:59] truly it is true of our country we are

[3:02] Americans and we founded this country

[3:07] upon godly principles but how America

[3:11] has changed and how America has turned

[3:15] their back on the one who helped them to

[3:19] become the nation that they needed to

[3:21] become this morning as we stop and

[3:24] consider our nation and this place where

[3:29] we're at I'd like to share with you a

[3:31] verse of scripture that is familiar to

[3:34] many but was written originally for the

[3:39] nation of Israel and but the principles

[3:42] they're found in that verse are helpful

[3:44] to us it says in 2nd chronicles 7:14

[3:48] if my people which are called by my name

[3:51] shall humble themselves and pray and

[3:54] seek my face and turn from their wicked

[3:56] ways then will I hear from heaven and

[3:59] will forgive their sin and heal their

[4:02] land in the writings here in chronicles

[4:05] we know that it's the Lord talking to

[4:08] the nation of Israel

[4:09] he said if my people his people that are

[4:12] chosen people shall humble themselves

[4:14] and pray you know you think about the

[4:16] nation of Israel and all the wickedness

[4:18] that they did all the things that they

[4:21] did turning away from God to serve idols

[4:23] turning away from God to serve other

[4:26] gods and would have this downward spiral

[4:29] in their relationship with God and how

[4:34] wicked it got to the place of them

[4:37] sacrificing their own children tidal's

[4:40] them worshipping other gods but God's

[4:43] love for them never ceased God's love

[4:46] for his people never stopped and he gave

[4:50] them this opportunity he said if my

[4:53] people which are called by my name shall

[4:55] humble themselves and pray and seek my

[4:58] face and turn from their wicked ways

[5:00] then will I hear from heaven and will

[5:03] forgive their sin and heal their land I

[5:06] just can't help but think that if God

[5:09] cares so much about his people that way

[5:13] he cares also for the Christian and the

[5:18] Christian who has a heart's desire to

[5:21] even though they live in a land that has

[5:23] had a downward spiral away from God they

[5:27] live in a land that has turned their

[5:29] back on God they live in a land that has

[5:31] done some things in this land that are

[5:34] so wicked yet I still believe that if

[5:37] Christian people and Christian people

[5:41] will humble themselves and pray and seek

[5:45] God's face and turn from their wicked

[5:48] ways no we don't replace Israel they

[5:52] have a special relationship with God but

[5:55] we are the Bride of Christ I believe God

[5:59] wants us to pray for America I believe

[6:04] God wants America to seek his face I

[6:07] believe God wants America to turn from

[6:09] their wicked ways but it's not gonna

[6:10] start at the white house it's got to

[6:13] start in your house and in my house so

[6:15] this Memorial Day as we remember those

[6:18] who gave the ultimate sacrifice so that

[6:22] you and I could have the freedoms we

[6:24] enjoy today don't squash their sacrifice

[6:30] don't turn away the opportunity to

[6:35] worship your Lord because they gave you

[6:40] the right to do so many of those men and

[6:43] women knew the Lord

[6:45] we're patriotic people and they love

[6:49] their God and today let me challenge you

[6:53] this Memorial Day let us not forget what

[6:57] their sacrifice means but also remember

[7:00] what it means to us so today as we go

[7:04] throughout our day lets truly have a

[7:08] hearts desire for America and truly

[7:11] desire once again that God would bless

[7:15] america

[7:16] if you know that song think about it

[7:29] her and guide her through the night with

[7:33] the light from above from the mountains

[7:37] to the prairies to the oceans white with
