[0:00] Everyone, here's CBS.
[0:04] >> This is the CBS Evening News Dan and
[0:06] Rather reporting. Good evening.
[0:09] Classified memos made public tonight
[0:10] raise new questions about the ethics and
[0:12] conduct in office of President Reagan's
[0:14] longtime friend, the chief US law
[0:16] enforcement officer, US Attorney General
[0:18] Ed Me. The memo in question is at the
[0:21] heart of accusations that Me was aware
[0:23] of plans by his own former lawyer and
[0:26] close friend to bribe Israeli officials

[1:02] Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Perez that
[1:04] Israel will receive somewhere between 65
[1:07] and $70 million a year for 10 years.
[1:10] What was also indicated to me and which
[1:12] would be denied everywhere is that a
[1:15] portion of those funds will go directly
[1:16] to labor. Justice Department sources
[1:19] have said that Mace may have violated
[1:20] the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act by
[1:23] failing to report what could be an
[1:25] illegal plan to bribe officials of
[1:27] Israel's Labor Party. Me would not
[1:29] comment today, but previously said his
[1:32] first reading of the memo caus
