[1:22] verse number one

[1:23] the bible says and i saw another mighty

[1:26] angel

[1:26] come down from heaven clothed with a

[1:29] cloud

[1:30] and a rainbow was upon his head and his

[1:33] face

[1:33] was as it were the sun and his feet as

[1:36] pillars of fire

[1:38] and he had in his hands a little book

[1:40] open and he set his right foot upon the

[1:42] scene

[1:43] and his left foot on the earth and cried

[1:46] with a loud voice as when the lion

[1:48] roared

[1:49] and when he had cried seven thunders

[1:51] uttered their voices

[1:53] and when the seven thunders had uttered

[1:55] their voices i was about to write

[1:57] and i heard a voice

[2:00] from heaven saying unto me seal up those

[2:04] things which the seven thunders

[2:06] uttered and write them not

[2:09] the angel which i saw stand upon the sea

[2:12] and upon the earth lifted up his hand to

[2:14] heaven

[2:15] and swear by him that liveth forever and

[2:18] ever

[2:18] who created heaven and the things that

[2:21] are therein are

[2:22] and the earth and the things that

[2:24] therein are

[2:25] and the sea and the things which are

[2:27] therein

[2:28] but there should be time no longer

[2:31] but in the days of the voice of the

[2:33] seventh angel when he shall begin to

[2:36] sound the mystery of god should be

[2:38] finished

[2:39] as he had declared to his servants the

[2:42] prophets

[2:43] and the voice which i heard from heaven

[2:44] spake unto me again

[2:46] and said go and take the little book

[2:48] which is open

[2:50] and the hand of the angel which standeth

[2:51] upon the sea and upon the earth

[2:54] and i went under the angel and said to

[2:55] him give me the little book

[2:57] he said unto me take it he lead it up

[3:00] and it shall make thy belly bitter but

[3:03] it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey

[3:05] i took the little book out of the

[3:07] angel's hand and ate it up

[3:08] and i it was in my mouth sweet as honey

[3:12] as soon as i had eaten it

[3:14] my belly was bitter and he said unto me

[3:16] thou must prophesy

[3:18] again before many peoples and nations

[3:21] and tongues and kings

[3:26] now in our text this morning as we look

[3:29] we want to talk about a few things

[3:31] the setting now has has changed he's

[3:33] looking from

[3:35] earth and john uh is describing what he

[3:38] is

[3:39] seeing now you'll notice no one else

[3:41] sees

[3:42] what john is seeing there's no that the

[3:45] people saw it there's no that the land

[3:48] saw the multitude saw it

[3:49] this is what john sees now i want to

[3:51] remind you of something that's very

[3:53] important

[3:53] chapter 10 and chapter 11 until verse 15

[3:57] are what we call parenthetical sections

[4:00] in the book of revelation

[4:01] a parenthetical section we've had some

[4:03] of those already in our study

[4:05] but what those sections are those are

[4:07] sections that are included

[4:09] for us to understand what's going on

[4:13] but are not necessarily in chronological

[4:16] order

[4:17] with the events that are taking place

[4:19] and so we find here

[4:21] that we don't know these events

[4:25] when they occurred but we know they will

[4:28] occur

[4:29] and when there's no indication of when

[4:32] the timing of the great tribulation they

[4:34] occurred

[4:35] our section today all we know that is

[4:38] it occurs before the seventh trumpet

[4:42] and the vile or bold judgments as

[4:44] they're described

[4:45] so the section we're looking at today we

[4:47] know that

[4:48] from verse number eight and the voice

[4:51] was spanking again said go take the

[4:52] little book which is open

[4:54] the verse previously excuse me verse 7

[4:57] tells us be in the days of the voice of

[5:00] the seventh angel so before

[5:02] that time this would happen now those of

[5:05] you who

[5:06] have studied eschatology or studying end

[5:08] times you may have heard the term

[5:10] pre-wrath pre-wrath that's dealing

[5:14] with the subject matter of the wrath the

[5:17] undiluted wrath of god being poured out

[5:19] during the great tribulation

[5:21] period during the trumpet judgments and

[5:24] or the excuse me the seventh trumpet

[5:26] judgment and all

[5:27] the vials and bold judgments that are

[5:29] there

[5:30] and so when i say vile or bold those

[5:33] words are interchangeable there

[5:35] and so we say that vile judgments or

[5:38] bold judgments

[5:38] it has to do with that there's nothing

[5:41] stopping it just poured out

[5:43] upon the earth and so back in our text

[5:46] verse number one

[5:47] there's this angel and now it says

[5:50] another

[5:51] mighty angel it's different than the

[5:53] angel that had the trumpets

[5:55] in the previous chapter number nine so

[5:57] this is a different angel

[5:59] and this is a mighty angel who's come

[6:02] down from heaven

[6:04] now this angel is clothed with a cloud

[6:07] and a rainbow was upon his head and his

[6:10] face was as it were the sun

[6:12] and his feet as pillars of fire and he

[6:14] had in his hand that little book

[6:16] open and he set his right foot upon the

[6:18] sea and his left foot on the earth

[6:21] now in studying this text you may say

[6:24] well who's this special angel

[6:27] well if you'll read the context you'll

[6:29] understand it but there's a

[6:31] conclusive verse that happens in the

[6:34] next chapter in chapter 11

[6:36] i believe it is in verse number three

[6:40] the angel says to john and i will give

[6:44] power unto my two witnesses

[6:48] so the angel in john chapter 10

[6:51] is jesus christ himself

[6:54] so jesus christ has come down now again

[6:58] we don't know the time frame of this

[7:00] this could have been at the beginning

[7:02] of the tribulation period this could be

[7:05] now here

[7:05] is the thing i want you to understand

[7:07] the reading of this

[7:10] is not describing it as an event that

[7:12] everyone

[7:13] sees is it event that john sees so it's

[7:16] the sovereignty of god

[7:18] on display here it is john

[7:21] understanding now this message from

[7:24] revelation

[7:25] chapter 10 in the beginning of chapter

[7:26] 11 the primary target

[7:29] for this message in chapter 10 in the

[7:32] first part of chapter 11

[7:34] is the nation of israel because we know

[7:36] in chapter 4

[7:37] the church has been raptured out and the

[7:40] great tribulation

[7:42] is god revealing christ to the world

[7:45] but also for the nation of israel to

[7:48] repent

[7:49] and accept jesus christ as their messiah

[7:53] so we find him here now here's some

[7:55] beautiful

[7:56] pictures with words to help identify

[8:00] for the nation of israel who we're

[8:02] talking about

[8:04] now you'll notice it says his clothes

[8:05] with the cloud now i don't have time

[8:07] this morning in our video session

[8:09] to take you through all the portion of

[8:12] scripture

[8:12] but i'm going to highlight a few topics

[8:15] for you

[8:16] if you remember in the nation of israel

[8:18] when they were wandering in the

[8:20] wilderness they were led by a pillar of

[8:22] cloud when moses went upon the mount to

[8:25] receive the ten commandments the bible

[8:27] says that a

[8:28] cloud came down the presence of god in

[8:31] the temple there was a

[8:32] cloud that filled the temple and the

[8:35] tabernacle representing the presence

[8:38] of god and when jesus was taken up to

[8:40] heaven in the clouds he said he will

[8:43] return

[8:44] in the clouds so the picture of the

[8:46] cloud also a rainbow

[8:48] was upon his head the rainbow of promise

[8:51] the promised covenant

[8:52] that god gave to noah and the promise

[8:55] thereof the rainbow

[8:56] is another identifying marker of who

[9:00] this person is and his face were as it

[9:03] were the son

[9:04] the bible describes jesus christ's face

[9:06] as the son

[9:07] you think about him on the mount of

[9:09] transfiguration that his face

[9:11] was a glow you'll think about him as he

[9:13] ascended up to heaven

[9:14] his face was a glow but here we see him

[9:17] as

[9:18] the sun and his feet as pillars of fire

[9:21] talking about the judgment of god

[9:24] that he's the pillar of fire now in his

[9:26] hand he has this little book open

[9:28] now the rest of the chapter kind of

[9:30] talks about this little book

[9:32] now we're not for certain what this

[9:35] little book is

[9:36] there's two different greek words that

[9:38] are used in the book of revelation and

[9:40] chapter 5 and chapter 10

[9:42] talking about a book and we discovered

[9:45] this one here is the smaller form the

[9:48] lesser form of book

[9:50] that's why it says little book and so

[9:52] there's

[9:53] multiple ideas of what it could be

[9:56] it could be a section of

[9:59] scripture prophetic scripture that

[10:02] john's gonna read and i'll explain more

[10:04] about that here in just a moment

[10:05] it could also be the book the seals

[10:09] that were opened up by jesus christ and

[10:11] is the title

[10:12] deed to the universe in the world it

[10:15] could be that

[10:17] it could be both of those things i

[10:19] believe in my heart it could be whatever

[10:22] god wants it to be but i believe it has

[10:24] to do

[10:25] with god's revelation of jesus christ

[10:28] to the world and to the jewish people

[10:30] during this tribulation time

[10:32] and so he has the little book and it's

[10:35] open and he sets his feet

[10:37] upon the sea and his left foot upon the

[10:39] earth

[10:40] now that happens that could happen on

[10:42] the mount of olives and the

[10:43] mediterranean sea christ could do that

[10:46] and one day he'll return at the second

[10:48] coming

[10:49] now i want to remind you this event

[10:52] is a futuristic event this event is a

[10:56] picturesque event

[10:57] he also just says here that as he cried

[11:00] with a loud voice

[11:01] as when a lion woreth jesus christ is

[11:05] the lion there when he cried seven

[11:08] thunders

[11:08] uttered their voices and when the seven

[11:11] thunders had uttered their voices

[11:13] john says i was about to write basically

[11:15] saying i was going to write what the

[11:17] thunder said so the thunders aren't just

[11:19] noise they are loud decrees

[11:22] loud cries and john was going to pin

[11:25] them he was going to write them

[11:28] but then he heard a voice from heaven

[11:30] saying unless we seal up those things

[11:33] which the seven thunders uttered and

[11:35] write them not so

[11:36] john as he's taking the pin and getting

[11:38] to plot ready to apply it to the paper

[11:40] the voice of god says no don't write

[11:43] that

[11:44] now you said what did the seventh

[11:46] underextent i don't know because the

[11:48] bible doesn't tell us

[11:49] and since the bible doesn't tell us we

[11:51] ought to leave it at that

[11:53] we should not try to figure out where

[11:55] the bible is silent

[11:56] we should be silent so the seven

[11:58] thunderings here

[12:00] john is told not to write them now the

[12:02] angel which i saw stand upon the sea he

[12:04] says

[12:05] he lifted up his hand to heaven and

[12:08] swear by him that liveth forever

[12:10] and ever an angel or a man cannot swear

[12:13] by god only god did now when god

[12:17] promised

[12:18] the land to moses he said that he swear

[12:21] by himself and only god could do that

[12:24] so again another picture of it being

[12:27] jesus christ

[12:28] here he swears by himself

[12:32] and the ability for all the possession

[12:34] of the earth so

[12:36] again that scroll that i mentioned that

[12:38] sealed scroll that has

[12:40] dominion over the universe and over the

[12:42] earth

[12:43] it's the title deed to the universe here

[12:46] christ is standing upon the earth with

[12:49] his hands raised

[12:50] saying he's got power and dominion and

[12:53] in his hands this little book so he's

[12:55] got

[12:55] the deed if you claim property you've

[12:58] got the deed you've got the ownership

[13:00] property in your hands and so

[13:04] here we find that jesus is doing that

[13:07] then he says that time shall be no

[13:09] longer

[13:10] now there's a lot of different views

[13:12] about that phrase of time being no

[13:14] longer

[13:15] but he says in the days of the seventh

[13:16] angel when it shall begin to sound the

[13:18] mystery of god should be

[13:20] finished and as he declared to his

[13:22] servants the prophets so the time frame

[13:24] error of time being no longer could

[13:27] reference

[13:28] eternity future it could be time no

[13:30] longer referencing

[13:32] the judgment of god that's getting ready

[13:34] to take place through the vile

[13:36] judgments and bold judgments as we would

[13:38] say it could be those two things

[13:40] but we find here that god's voice that

[13:44] bold judgments decrees that time will be

[13:47] no longer

[13:48] he also decrees that the seventh angel

[13:51] when that begins to sound

[13:52] you're gonna know it's the messiah

[13:54] you're gonna know the judgment of god

[13:57] the voice that spake from heaven that

[14:00] being god tells john to take the book

[14:02] now remember the book is open so the

[14:04] seals have been open

[14:05] the portion of scripture has been open

[14:08] the prophecies have been foretold

[14:10] so i believe here as john takes it now

[14:13] it didn't mean that he literally took a

[14:15] book in his hand

[14:16] and started chowing down on the book

[14:20] it means the the things that were

[14:22] written in the book he digested

[14:24] he took them in he read them and when

[14:27] you read about

[14:28] god's redemptive plan for the nation of

[14:30] israel as

[14:31] john the jew as he's reading about god's

[14:34] redemptive plan for the nation of israel

[14:36] that he's the messiah that he's going to

[14:39] reign

[14:39] that he's going to bring judgment upon

[14:41] the earth for those that are against god

[14:44] that would be sweet but then when you

[14:46] read on about the bold judgments and the

[14:48] bible judgments

[14:50] as i would say you would discover that

[14:53] that would be bitter to john

[14:54] the people that will die the judgment of

[14:56] god what it takes for the nation of

[14:58] israel to repent

[15:00] would be bitter in john's belly in other

[15:03] words at first it's wonderful

[15:05] but then seeing the rest of the story

[15:08] would be

[15:08] upsetting to john so john takes the book

[15:11] and he eats it up he digests it he

[15:13] studies it up he understands it and then

[15:16] the voice says in him thou must prophesy

[15:18] again before many peoples and nations

[15:21] tongues and kings john gets to leave the

[15:22] isle of patins history tells us

[15:25] that he returns back to ephesus he dies

[15:28] at his home in ephesus as an

[15:29] old man but the amazing part of this

[15:33] chapter is this important truth

[15:36] that jesus christ is the messiah

[15:39] he's revealing that to john here

[15:43] confirming that with john and i believe

[15:45] that

[15:46] revelation chapter 10 along with matthew

[15:49] 24

[15:49] 25 and other portions of the book of

[15:52] revelation

[15:53] that the nation of israel will turn to

[15:55] them during the tribulation

[15:57] time and understand and have the scales

[16:00] of their eyes

[16:01] open to understand who the messiah is

[16:04] so there's a lot here in chapter 10 but

[16:07] here's the deciding

[16:08] truth the truth to take home with you

[16:10] today

[16:11] jesus christ is the messiah jesus christ

[16:15] will rule and reign upon this earth

[16:17] jesus christ has the little book and

[16:20] he's

[16:20] opened up the scroll he's the tithe

[16:22] he'll he owns the title to the universe

[16:25] and one day soon he's coming back

[16:28] now i look forward to the day that jesus

[16:30] returns and we

[16:32] experience the rapture first and then

[16:34] the second coming of the lord and we'll

[16:36] talk more about that in the upcoming

[16:38] weeks

[16:38] next week we're going to deal with the

[16:41] two witnesses

[16:42] don't encourage you to take time to

[16:45] listen and to follow along

[16:47] in your bible reading as we get to

[16:49] revelation chapter 11

[16:51] next week but this section of scripture

[16:55] is exciting to read especially

[16:58] if you're part of the nation of israel

[17:00] that ought to reveal to you

[17:01] you missed him the first time but he's

[17:04] coming back again

[17:06] as the bible says every knee shall bow

[17:08] and every tongue shall confess that

[17:10] jesus christ is lord thank you for
