[0:25] this portion of election night is

[0:26] sponsored by the Bell System keeping

[0:28] your communication system the best in

[0:30] the world by Polaroid inventors of

[0:33] instant

[0:34] photography and by es Mark a family of

[0:44] he's in his hotel suite in Los

[0:52] Angeles I don't think we had uh audio

[0:55] from that picture anyway it was a brief

[0:57] shot that they permitted us uh as he

[1:00] obviously took a congratulatory call

[1:02] from uh a friend we assume that that

[1:04] call was not from President Carter he

[1:07] said he called him sometime ago to

[1:09] concede the election and to congratulate

[1:11] him as did John Anderson the independent

[1:14] candidate who incidentally now has a 6%

[1:18] of the votes with just 50% of the

[1:20] national vote counted incidentally with

[1:22] that 60 50% half the nation's vote

[1:25] counted it's 50% still for Reagan 43%

[1:30] Carter 6% for John Anderson and for Ed

[1:34] Clark the libertarian candidate uh just

[1:36] a bare 1% of the vote that 6% for

[1:40] Anderson if it holds up all evening

[1:42] through the western state count will

[1:44] mean that he will collect Federal

[1:46] matching funds and perhaps be able to

[1:48] retire a great portion if not all of his

[1:51] presidential campaign debt Let's uh go

[1:54] now to those Western States and a report

[1:57] from our Western Regional reporter

[1:59] leslee stall Walter Ronald Reagan is

[2:01] taking the west by storm let's look at

[2:04] the uh recap board and see how well he

[2:06] is doing we don't have any returns in
