[0:00] We're joined right now by Brian Norcross
[0:02] who is a CBS News hurricane analyst.
[0:04] He's joining us from our sister station
[0:06] WFO in Miami. Brian, 105 years ago this
[0:09] month, 1900 deadly hurricane takes out
[0:12] 6,000 people in Galveastston. How does
[0:14] that compare to this? Well, this has the
[0:17] potential of course to be that kind of
[0:19] disaster. But as you say, Dave, it makes
[0:21] so much difference where it goes ashore.
[0:24] If, for instance, let me go down to the
[0:26] map here. A similar picture that you
[0:28] were just showing. If it goes to the
[0:30] shore to the south of the Galveastston
[0:32] area, that's the worst situation for
[0:34] Galveston and Houston because it puts
[0:36] the water from the right side. The
[0:38] hurricane is spinning this way. It's
[0:40] pushing water on the right side of it.
[0:42] So that puts the big storm surge into
[0:44] Galveastston. If it goes to the right
[0:46] and it is edging a little to the right
[0:48] up in here, that's still going to be a
[0:50] very bad hurricane in the Galveastston
[0:52] Houston area, but not as bad in terms of
[0:54] the water. And it puts that devastating
[0:57] water further east. Bowmont and even
[1:00] pushes even more water toward New
[1:02] Orleans, although not not like Katrina
[1:04] type water, but more water in that
[1:06] direction.
[1:08] >> So, Bowmont, Port Arthur, major
[1:10] petroleum processing areas could be in a
