[0:04] From ABC, this is a special 1-hour
[0:08] edition of World News Tonight with Peter
[0:10] Jennings.
[0:11] >> Good evening. The war is now 2 days old
[0:13] and for the second day, the White House,
[0:14] while confident, urges caution. From
[0:17] President Bush, the obvious words today,
[0:19] war is never cheap or easy. The
[0:21] president says it will take time. And it
[0:24] is costing lives. Three more US jets
[0:26] have been shot down since yesterday,
[0:28] each with a twoman crew. That brings the
[0:30] total Allied losses to eight aircraft.

[0:35] Iraqis are being killed, but they surely
[0:37] are perhaps in great numbers. We begin
[0:40] with Iraq and the pounding it has been

[0:58] Saudi Arabia and nearby friendly
[1:00] nations. Sometimes the attacks are made
[1:02] with pinpoint accuracy.
[1:09] This is the cockpit videotape of an
[1:11] American F-111 attack on a Scud missile
[1:14] storage building in Kuwait. As he turns
[1:16] and banks away from the target, the
[1:18] pilot from two miles away fires two
[1:22] 2,000lb laserg guided smart bombs. Watch
[1:25] the entrance to the building.
[1:31] Central command generals at their first
[1:33] war briefing today claimed an 80%
[1:36] success rate and showed off some of
[1:38] their best results.
[1:39] >> And this is my counterpart's
[1:41] headquarters in uh Baghdad.
[1:46] This is the air uh headquarters of the
[1:48] Air Force and keep your eye on all sides
[1:50] of the building as the airpl
