[17:48] I wanted to share that with you and

[17:49] thank you for giving to that love

[17:51] offering it was a blessing and it got to

[17:54] be a help to them and so we're thankful

[17:59] to First Kings chapter 18 tonight First

[18:04] Kings chapter 18 and we're going to

[18:06] highlight a few verses in different

[18:08] sections of the chapter then we'll go

[18:10] into chapter 19 as well and I'm looking

[18:13] forward to uh uh the Lord just sometimes

[18:16] when you're studying and you're reading

[18:18] the word it's a fire hydrant type

[18:22] experience where God just opens it up

[18:24] and overwhelms you with it and that's

[18:26] what happened in studying for this

[18:27] message so I'm excited to share with you

[18:30] what the Lord shared with me uh earlier

[18:32] this week in preparation for night so

[18:34] First Kings 18 if you're able to stand

[18:38] God we're going to read verse number one

[18:40] and then we're going to hop around to

[18:42] some other verses as well uh First Kings

[18:45] 18:1 if you're there say Amen the Bible

[18:48] says and it came to pass after many days

[18:51] that the word of the Lord came to Elijah

[18:52] in the third year saying go show thyself

[18:55] unto Ahab and I will send

[18:59] upon the Earth drop down if you would to

[19:01] verse number

[19:04] 25 verse number 25 he just want to

[19:08] highlight some verse then we're going to

[19:09] go to verse 37 but in verse 25 Elijah

[19:12] said unto the prophets of Bale choose

[19:14] you one bullet for yourselves dress it

[19:15] first for there for ye are many and call

[19:18] on the name of your gods and put no fire

[19:20] under so we've got this battle that

[19:22] takes place on Mount Carmel and there's

[19:25] the fight between the prophets of baale

[19:27] and Jehovah God and we drop down to

[19:30] verse number

[19:32] 37 and this is his prayer that he prayed

[19:35] hear me oh Lord hear me that this people

[19:38] may know that thou art the Lord God and

[19:41] that thou Hast turned their heart back

[19:44] again then the fire of the Lord fell and

[19:47] consumed the burnt sacrifice and the

[19:49] wood and the stones and the dust and

[19:51] licked up the water that was in the

[19:54] trench and when all the people saw it

[19:57] they fell on their face faces and said

[19:59] the Lord he is God the Lord he is God

[20:04] Elijah said unto them take the prophets

[20:06] of baale let not one of them Escape they

[20:09] took them and Elijah brought them down

[20:10] to the brook Kishon and slew them there

[20:14] Elijah said unto Ahab get thee up eat

[20:16] and drink for there is the sound of

[20:19] abundance of

[20:21] rain so Ahab went up to eat to drink and

[20:24] Elijah went up to the top of carel he

[20:27] cast himself down down upon the Earth

[20:32] to his servant go up now look toward the

[20:34] sea he went up and looked and said there

[20:36] is nothing he said go again seven times

[20:41] and it came to pass at the seventh time

[20:43] that he said behold there riseth the

[20:45] little Cloud out of the sea like a man's

[20:59] a great rain and Ahab rode and went to

[21:02] jezrael and the Hand of the Lord was on

[21:04] Elijah he gted up his loins and he ran

[21:07] before Ahab to the entrance of jezrael

[21:10] and to drop down to Chapter 19 Verse

[21:13] number one if you would and Ahab told

[21:16] Jezebel all that Elijah had done with

[21:18] all how he'd slain all the prophets with

[21:20] the sword then Jezebel sent a messenger

[21:23] un Elijah saying so let the gods do to

[21:25] me and more also if I make not thy life

[21:28] as the life of one of them by tomorrow

[21:30] about this time and when he saw that he

[21:33] rose and went for his life came to be

[21:35] Sheba which belonged to Judah left his

[21:38] servant there but he himself Jour went a

[21:41] Day's Journey Into the Wilderness and

[21:42] came and sat down under a juniper tree

[21:45] requested of himself that he might die

[21:48] and said it is enough now oh Lord take

[21:51] away my life for I am no better than my

[21:56] fathers the prayer cycle of Elijah and

[22:01] how it fits in our lives the prayer

[22:04] cycle of Elijah and how it fits in our

[22:06] lives let's go Lord in prayer tonight

[22:07] Heavenly Father Lord we're thankful for

[22:10] you we're thankful that you love us you

[22:14] care for us Lord we pray tonight that we

[22:18] would arrest our attention and focus on

[22:22] you tonight Lord I pray if you would

[22:24] please cleanse me of sin and empty me of

[22:26] myself that I might be out of the the

[22:28] way tonight and your word may go forth

[22:31] Lord I pray you'd hide me behind the

[22:32] cross Lord I pray you'd help us tonight

[22:35] to not just be hearers of the word but

[22:38] to be doers also in your name I pray

[22:41] amen thank you for standing you may be

[22:44] seated First Kings chapter

[22:48] 18 Elijah has been provided for by the

[22:52] Lord there's not been

[22:55] rain for this period of time and the

[22:57] Lord tells tell Elijah go back to Ahab

[23:02] and tell him it's going to rain so he

[23:04] goes back and he tells Ahab it's going

[23:06] to rain and on the way there he meets

[23:08] Obadiah and Obadiah talks to Elijah and

[23:11] then in verse 17 he came to pass in

[23:15] verse 8 chapter 18 verse 17 Ahab saw

[23:17] Elijah that Ahab said unto them art thou

[23:20] he that troubleth Israel and he answered

[23:23] I have not troubled Israel but thou and

[23:25] thy Father's House ye have forsaken the

[23:28] the Commandments of the Lord and thou

[23:30] Hast followed balam and so there's

[23:33] this the the land is doing wickedness in

[23:36] the eyes of the Lord and so Elijah comes

[23:40] to the people and in verse 21 he asks

[23:42] him the question how long halt ye

[23:44] between two opinions if ba be the Lord

[23:48] be God then follow him but if baale be

[23:50] God then follow him and the people

[23:54] answered him not a word so he said what

[23:58] what are you what's the problem halt ye

[24:00] between two opinions if it's the Lord

[24:01] follow him if it's Bale follow him they

[24:04] didn't say anything so Elijah says to

[24:07] them in verse 23 let them therefore give

[24:08] us two Bullocks let them choose one

[24:11] Bullock for themselves and cut it in

[24:12] pieces lay it under on the wood put a

[24:15] piece under it and I will dress the

[24:17] other bulock lay it on the wood and put

[24:18] no fire under and call ye on the name of

[24:21] your gods and I'll call upon the name of

[24:23] the Lord and the god that anth by fire

[24:26] let him be God and all the people

[24:28] answered and said it is well spoken

[24:31] first they didn't say a word but now

[24:34] that they're going to see fire fall down

[24:35] from heaven they're interested in it and

[24:39] so we have recorded for us all the

[24:42] prophets of Baal and all the things that

[24:44] they

[24:45] do and then je Elijah repairs The Altar

[24:49] and during this famine where it hasn't

[24:51] rained for over three years he goes he

[24:54] says get water and pour it on the Altar

[24:56] and pour it on the sacrifice you need to

[24:57] dug a trench

[24:59] and he gets all that and then Elijah

[25:03] prays in verse 27 37 hear me oh Lord

[25:07] hear me that this people may know that

[25:10] thou art the Lord God and that thou has

[25:12] turned their heart back again and boom

[25:15] then the fire

[25:17] fell Elijah's first

[25:20] prayer on this day that he prays that's

[25:24] recorded for us Elijah's first prayer

[25:26] that's recorded for us he prays to God

[25:29] and fire falls

[25:31] down you ever prayed and God answered

[25:34] right away isn't that encouraging in

[25:36] your prayer

[25:39] life isn't that encouraging in your

[25:42] prayer life when you pray and God shows

[25:44] up right away because he can do that and

[25:46] he does do that sometimes I was telling

[25:50] my wife I was joking I said he didn't

[25:51] even say amen and it came

[25:54] down but then she challenged me say what

[25:56] other prayers in the Old Testament said

[25:58] I said oh don't do that to me she's

[26:00] picking on me I tell you what but we

[26:03] find Elijah

[26:05] praise and the fire

[26:08] falls and when all the people saw it

[26:10] verse 39 they fell on their faces they

[26:12] said the Lord he is God the Lord he is

[26:15] God everybody's on the Lord's Side

[26:18] everybody's rejoicing Elijah prayed fire

[26:21] fell it's a Hallelujah time on top of

[26:24] Mount Caramel and he's just having a

[26:26] great time and then they go down to the

[26:27] brook they kill all the false prophets

[26:30] they get rid of all them and Elijah says

[26:32] unto Ahab there's the sound of the

[26:34] abundance of

[26:37] rain so he tells Ahab basically he says

[26:41] to Ahab

[26:42] eat and I'm gonna go up on the mount and

[26:46] pray so Elijah goes up on Carmel now I

[26:50] want we got to think about

[26:52] it that I know it's a it's a mountain

[26:54] range Mount Carmel range it's not just

[26:57] one solo Mountain and it was very

[26:59] possible he returned right back to the

[27:01] place that the sacrifice had

[27:04] been meaning the the smoke was still

[27:07] there the smell of charred

[27:11] flesh was still around if you've ever

[27:13] burnt charred flesh you ever burnt

[27:17] something you're cooking something you

[27:18] burnt it it sticks around for a

[27:21] while there's that burnt smell the smoke

[27:25] still wafting in the air and Elijah this

[27:28] time gets down on his hands and his

[27:30] knees and he prays and he tells his

[27:33] servant go

[27:35] look the servant comes back and says

[27:40] nothing wait a minute my last prayer

[27:43] just a few hours previous fire fell

[27:47] down now he prays and

[27:50] nothing the Bible says he told him to go

[27:53] back seven times so he prays again

[27:55] prayer number two

[27:58] goes back Ser goes back

[28:03] nothing praise the third time praise the

[28:07] fourth time praise the fifth time praise

[28:11] the sixth time and still nothing no

[28:16] response from God

[28:21] yet I call this second pattern of Prayer

[28:25] in Elijah's life fervent

[28:29] prayer he continues to pray and

[28:33] continues to pray and continues to pray

[28:37] and continues to pray and continues to

[28:41] pray now I don't know about you but if

[28:42] you prayed for something often and God

[28:46] hasn't responded do you have a tendency

[28:48] to get

[28:50] discouraged do you have a tendency to

[28:52] like you know what I've prayed six times

[28:54] I don't know if I want to pray a seventh

[28:56] time but Elijah he prayed

[28:58] seventh

[28:59] time and on the seventh time of

[29:02] praying the Ser comes back there's a

[29:05] cloud size of

[29:08] man's he goes and tells Ahab you better

[29:11] get

[29:12] home you better Mount up and go rain's

[29:16] coming the Bible describes that a

[29:17] rainstorm comes now Elijah sends his

[29:21] servant on Mount C there borders up to

[29:23] the Mediterranean Sea and the storms

[29:25] Will Roll in across the Mediterranean

[29:27] Sea come over the mountain and into

[29:29] Jezreel and so they were looking watch

[29:31] this where rain had come from before

[29:34] they're watching where God had sent rain

[29:37] from before praying go look praying go

[29:40] look praying go look praying go look God

[29:42] had brought rain before from there so

[29:45] they're just anticipating and Elijah

[29:48] knew God said go tell Ahab it's going to

[29:52] rain remember chapter 18 verse number

[29:54] one I will send rain upon the Earth

[29:58] rain's

[29:59] coming rain's coming Elijah just keep

[30:04] praying so fent prayer the New Testament

[30:08] there's that verse that says the

[30:09] effectual fervent prayer of a righteous

[30:11] man availeth

[30:14] much so he has this fervent prayer he

[30:17] continues to pray continues to pray and

[30:20] then the cloud rolls in and then the

[30:22] amazing thing happens Ahab takes off in

[30:24] his Chariot verse number 46 and the hand

[30:28] of the Lord was on Elijah and he gted up

[30:31] his loins and he ran before Ahab to the

[30:35] entrance of jezrael so ahab's in a

[30:39] chariot and Elijah outruns it the 15

[30:45] miles from Mount Carmel back to

[30:49] jezrael 15 miles outran The Chariot

[30:53] because of

[30:55] God now in our Passage we saw that the

[31:00] first time he prays is the time of the

[31:02] evening

[31:03] sacrifice so now he's running in the

[31:06] evening in the dark in the night

[31:10] time it's later on in the

[31:13] day so in a matter of

[31:17] hours he's prayed and fire fell and then

[31:21] he prayed and got nothing and he prayed

[31:23] and got nothing and he prayed and got

[31:24] nothing and he prayed and got nothing

[31:26] and he prayed and got nothing and he

[31:27] prayed and got nothing then he prayed

[31:29] and God

[31:32] answered so now he gets to Jezreel it's

[31:35] the next day he's arrived at jezrael

[31:39] Ahab tells Jezebel all that Elijah had

[31:42] done and with all how he had slain all

[31:44] the prophets with the sword then Jezebel

[31:46] sends a messenger to Elijah and says I'm

[31:49] going to take thy life as one of them by

[31:52] tomorrow so he gets

[31:54] 24hour I'm going to come after you in 24

[31:56] hours tomorrow you're in

[31:58] trouble now a few chapters back God told

[32:04] Elijah go tell Ahab this and then two

[32:07] verses later get thee up hence and

[32:10] go so previously God had said to Ahab

[32:14] said to Elijah go tell Ahab and then a

[32:17] few verses later all right now it's time

[32:19] for you to go now let's look what

[32:21] happens in verse number three and when

[32:23] he saw that he arose and went for his

[32:25] life and came to berseba which belongeth

[32:28] to Judah and left his servant

[32:33] there no praying to God no asking God

[32:39] what to

[32:40] do by the way from jezrael to beeba is

[32:46] 100

[32:47] miles it's not like he just went to the

[32:50] next town he's afraid for his life he

[32:53] got out of town and he got out of the

[32:55] county and he got into the next province

[32:59] he's on the

[33:00] Run wait a minute rewind your clock

[33:06] Elijah less than 24 hour fire fell when

[33:10] you

[33:11] prayed fervent prayer seven times and

[33:14] God answered then God GED you up and you

[33:18] outran a chariot

[33:20] back and now because of circumstances

[33:24] and words in your life you don't even

[33:26] talk to God

[33:28] you

[33:32] run so he travels 100

[33:35] miles verse

[33:37] four he well into verse three he left

[33:41] his servant there but he himself went a

[33:44] Day's Journey Into the Wilderness and

[33:47] came and sat down under a juniper tree

[33:49] and requested for himself that he might

[33:53] die and said now who's he talking to

[33:56] he's talking to the Lord Lord it is

[33:58] enough now oh Lord take away my life for

[34:01] I'm not better than my father's his

[34:03] third prayer that he

[34:06] prays comes after a period of

[34:09] discouragement and

[34:15] doubt and he

[34:17] prays not that God would help but that

[34:21] God would end his

[34:25] life his prayer becomes self

[34:29] focused because he's praying in his

[34:33] feelings of doubt and

[34:39] discouragement now we're talking about a

[34:41] man that God used to pray a prayer and

[34:45] fire

[34:46] fell then a man who prayed fervently for

[34:49] seven times and then God sent

[34:52] rain and then a man who prays after he

[34:57] hears what's going to happen to him

[34:59] discouraging words he prays in a state

[35:02] of discouragement and we could even say

[35:05] suicidal

[35:09] thinking how did he get

[35:13] there how do you get from fire falling

[35:16] down to three days later praying that

[35:19] God will take your

[35:21] life how do you get

[35:24] there is it confusing to anyone else

[35:28] I prayed fire down from heaven then I

[35:30] prayed and God sent rain sent a

[35:32] raincloud in then God gted up me and I

[35:34] outran a chariot then I heard some words

[35:37] and I got out of town and then I left my

[35:40] servant in berseba and then I went a day

[35:43] journey and got isolated all by myself

[35:46] and then when I got isolated all by

[35:48] myself I talked to God and asked God to

[35:50] kill

[35:52] me that's the prayer cycle of Elijah in

[35:55] just a few days

[35:58] now why do you think God recorded all

[36:00] that for

[36:03] us why does God record three different

[36:07] prayers of Elijah in chapter 18 and

[36:09] chapter 19 for

[36:13] us I believe with all my heart that the

[36:16] word of God is written for our

[36:20] admonition we are to learn from

[36:24] Elijah what God would have us to learn

[36:26] and I do believe there is a practical

[36:29] application lesson and that is number

[36:32] one sometimes God will send the fire

[36:36] other words God will answer right

[36:40] away sometimes he does that and it's

[36:43] encouraging in your prayer life isn't it

[36:46] anybody ever had a moment where you

[36:48] prayed and God answered it right

[36:50] away I'm I had had two people say amen

[36:53] we'll try it again you ever had a moment

[36:55] in your life where you prayed and God

[36:56] sent it right away

[36:59] if not then you need to pray

[37:01] more because God can and he's able to

[37:05] you ever prayed for something and you

[37:08] got radio

[37:10] silence amen you ever prayed and got

[37:14] radio silence so did you just quit

[37:16] praying or did you pray

[37:18] again and Pray Again pray

[37:22] again and pray

[37:26] again and then Pray Again

[37:29] again and then pray

[37:50] nothing God doesn't answer all prayers

[38:13] wait now Elijah prays the first time God

[38:18] sending rain but he hadn't sent it yet

[38:20] and there's no evidence to the servant

[38:23] there's no evidence now remember

[38:25] remember where he's at he's on top of

[38:27] the mountain

[38:28] it's very possible the altars in the

[38:31] vicinity where fire just fell down and

[38:34] consumed the sacrifice and lift up all

[38:36] the

[38:37] water it's kind of like you've been in

[38:39] your prayer closet before and God's

[38:41] answered with fire and answered right

[38:43] away and the next time you went in you

[38:44] prayed and nothing

[38:47] happened Elijah prays again Elijah prays

[38:51] again Elijah prays

[38:54] again and still gets nothing

[38:58] now I wonder I wonder is my my my my

[39:03] brain sometimes thinking through things

[39:05] I

[39:06] wonder have we ever

[39:09] stopped praying for something when we

[39:12] were one prayer away from God

[39:17] answered I don't

[39:19] know I don't

[39:21] know but I do know this if it's the

[39:25] Lord's will and by the way praying for

[39:26] rain what was the Lord's will because

[39:29] God said I'm sending

[39:31] rain so he went to Mount Carmel and he

[39:34] praised the prayer and he sent his

[39:37] servant off to the other side of the

[39:38] range to look over the Mediterranean Sea

[39:40] to see if there's a storm coming in he

[39:43] went to the place where rain had come

[39:46] from

[39:47] before in other words he said God's done

[39:50] it once God can do it

[39:52] again he can do it again he can do it

[39:55] again and so he's just watching and

[39:58] anticipating what God said he would

[40:01] do and in our lives we need to have that

[40:04] fervent

[40:06] prayer now you say well if I pray so

[40:09] many times is am I guaranteed that God's

[40:11] going to answer no sorry I don't know

[40:14] the

[40:15] number by the way it's not always about

[40:19] the number of times it's on the hard

[40:21] work that he's doing in

[40:24] you because he knows if if you're

[40:27] praying from your head or if you're

[40:29] praying from your heart he knows if

[40:32] you're praying out of repetition and

[40:35] begging God out of repetition or if you

[40:38] truly desire Lord not my will but thine

[40:41] be done he knows you're praying from

[40:44] your head or from your

[40:46] heart but the fervent prayer doesn't

[40:50] just say the fervent

[40:51] prayer the effectual fervent prayer of a

[40:55] righteous man

[40:57] much if you're not

[41:00] righteous you can pray fervently people

[41:02] pray fervently all the

[41:04] time but you got to be right to pray

[41:09] right and when you're right with God it

[41:12] helps you to pray right we talked about

[41:14] a couple weeks

[41:16] ago so there is that fervent prayer but

[41:19] then there's that chapter 19

[41:24] prayer because the Christian Life is a

[41:26] struggle

[41:28] the Christian life has its ups and

[41:33] downs Elijah comes 24 hours away from

[41:38] fire falling down storm clouds rolling

[41:40] in God's hand being on him the hand of

[41:44] the Lord now I don't know if it was

[41:48] God's

[41:49] empowerment or if it was God's actual

[41:52] hand that reached down picked Elijah up

[41:54] and said

[41:57] it just says the hand of the Lord was

[41:59] upon him it could reference God's power

[42:02] but it could actually be that God

[42:03] grabbed a hold of Elijah and said let me

[42:07] help but the amazing thing is after

[42:10] those Mountaintop

[42:13] experiences by the way Jezreel is down

[42:16] in the valley it's the valley of Jezreel

[42:19] there's Mount Carmel Mount Taber Mount

[42:21] Mariah there's another Mountain there

[42:23] that's in this range of mountain that

[42:27] are there the valley of jezrael down in

[42:30] the middle uh in Revelation it's

[42:32] described as the valley of mego or the

[42:34] battle of Armageddon will take

[42:39] place but Elijah he comes to Jezreel and

[42:45] he hears what Jezebel

[42:47] says he didn't even hear it from Jezebel

[42:51] she sent a messenger to deliver a

[42:54] message Elijah heard that some body he

[42:57] said they're going to do this to

[42:59] him now in my glorified imagination I

[43:03] would

[43:04] say

[43:08] huh I'm not

[43:13] concerned God's

[43:17] able remember a couple chapters before

[43:20] the fire fallen down God took him to a

[43:22] brook and fed him with dirty birds

[43:24] Ravens brought him bread and meat and

[43:27] fed him from B Cher and then God said no

[43:30] now you're going to go over here to

[43:31] zarif and he took him to a widow woman

[43:33] where she provided uh from God and took

[43:36] care of him and God had miraculously

[43:39] taken care of him the last three years

[43:41] and he prayed fire down and he's kind of

[43:44] got a history with

[43:46] God of things that God has done and the

[43:49] victories he's won with God and now

[43:52] somebody says

[43:53] something and he gets all up in his

[43:55] feelings

[43:57] and he doubts God you say well it

[43:59] doesn't say that his response indicates

[44:03] he felt he needed to take matters into

[44:04] his

[44:06] hands and he's

[44:10] discouraged now have you ever gotten

[44:12] there in your prayer

[44:15] life you were

[44:18] discouraged and you had some

[44:21] doubts and your prayers

[44:24] became self focused

[44:28] instead of God

[44:31] focused and you end up praying in your

[44:34] feelings and your discouragement and

[44:37] your depression now watch this this is

[44:39] just two

[44:41] days maybe three depending on how long

[44:44] it took them to get to beeba how many

[44:47] miles they walked the day I mean it says

[44:48] he was on the move for his life so I

[44:52] don't think he was taking a slow walk

[44:55] think he was putting space and he could

[44:57] have also rode some animals to help him

[45:00] get there even quicker but we know

[45:03] logistically it's 100 miles away from

[45:05] where Jezebel's

[45:08] at gets then that

[45:11] Journey have you ever been there in your

[45:13] own prayer life where on on Sunday you

[45:17] prayed and God set fire

[45:19] down and then Monday you continue to

[45:22] pray and you continue to pray and you

[45:24] continue to pray and then come Tuesday

[45:26] after afternoon something happened in

[45:28] your life and your feelings and

[45:30] discouragement doubt and you don't you

[45:32] respond to situations before you even

[45:35] talk to God about

[45:38] it Elijah illustrates for us that you

[45:41] can have Mountaintop experience

[45:45] spiritually and if not very careful can

[45:48] shrink into the valley of discouragement

[45:50] very

[45:53] quickly so why did God record it for us

[45:56] everyone one of us battle that in our

[45:58] Christian Life every one of us have

[46:01] moments where God shows himself and fire

[46:04] comes down when you pray a prayer and

[46:06] you see God you're wow look what God did

[46:11] and then there's been times that you've

[46:12] prayed and you've prayed and you've

[46:14] prayed and you've prayed you prayed and

[46:16] you went through a season of nothing

[46:19] radio silence nothing nothing God was

[46:21] hearing he just was delaying the

[46:25] answer the answer was

[46:28] wait

[46:29] wait wait and in the moments of waiting

[46:32] you can

[46:34] stop you can get

[46:38] frustrated or you can fervently continue

[46:42] to

[46:45] pray and

[46:47] then God

[46:49] answered and the very next situation

[46:52] Elijah

[46:53] faces he flees

[46:56] doesn't run to

[47:00] God I mean I'm

[47:03] puzzled but I'm

[47:05] encouraged the reason why is if Elijah

[47:08] can struggle with his feelings his

[47:11] thoughts discouragement and his prayer

[47:13] life so can Believers in 21st century

[47:19] Christianity so maybe tonight the reason

[47:22] why you're struggling so much in your

[47:24] prayer life is because you're letting

[47:26] feelings of doubt and discouragement

[47:28] overtake you and you're praying from

[47:32] your feelings not praying through your

[47:36] feelings there's a difference praying

[47:39] from feelings means it's all about you

[47:41] praying through feelings is God help my

[47:43] feelings to get out of the way and let

[47:46] me come to

[47:47] you so tonight let's learn from the

[47:51] pattern of prayer life of Elijah and

[47:53] apply it to our hearts take courage

[47:57] sometimes God will send fire down

[47:59] immediate

[48:00] answers take courage keep praying

[48:03] because you may just be one prayer away

[48:06] before he

[48:07] answers take courage don't let your

[48:10] emotions of discouragement and doubt

[48:12] overtake your prayer

[48:15] life now we mentioned in the previous

[48:18] two chapters God told him speak to Ahab

[48:21] and then God told him to flee God didn't

[48:22] tell him to

[48:24] flee I wonder what God would have

[48:27] said Elijah called out unto the Lord

[48:30] Lord what will thou have me to

[48:33] do if we would have got rid of Jezebel

[48:39] quicker I don't know what might have

[48:41] happened had Elijah called out to God

[48:44] first before he took

[48:46] off what happens is he gets discouraging

[48:49] words and he changes his approach he

[48:51] prays that the Lord may take his

[48:55] life there's some step here with the

[48:57] power of discouraging words that happen

[48:59] in the lives of Believers when you get

[49:02] discouraging words either from your own

[49:04] thought pattern or from someone else

[49:06] some of the things happen you

[49:09] flee you

[49:12] isolate you sit down the Bible says he

[49:15] sat down under the Jee then he lays down

[49:18] he doesn't want to

[49:20] eat he doesn't want to be around

[49:23] people then the Lord wakes him up and

[49:26] feeds him him and tells him the

[49:27] Journey's too

[49:31] long in your

[49:33] life when you get discouraged run to God

[49:37] don't run from God when you have

[49:40] feelings of discouragement and doubt

[49:42] don't run from God run to

[49:44] God don't isolate

[49:47] yourself encourage yourself in the

[49:51] Lord and sometimes it's hard when you've

[49:55] prayed three or four five six 5 10 12 30

[50:01] 50 70 times for the same thing and God

[50:04] still has an answer don't stop keep

[50:10] praying keep praying well he hadn't

[50:13] answered yet keep

[50:18] praying he's not a genie in the bottle

[50:20] that if you say well if I keep praying

[50:21] he's going to answer yes that's not the

[50:24] case but sometimes it's for our growth

[50:29] that he doesn't say yes it's because he

[50:32] wants us to be effectual and fervent in

[50:36] our

[50:37] prayers would you bow your heads

[50:45] tonight

[50:46] what are your prayers currently

[50:51] like are you having fire fall down from

[50:54] heaven moments in your prayer life

[50:57] are you having fervent seasons of Prayer

[51:01] in your prayer life or you find yourself

[51:04] currently in a state of discouragement

[51:07] and doubt in your prayer life whatever

[51:10] stage you're in go to

[51:13] God cry out to him call out to

[51:18] him every one of us in the room go

[51:21] through seasons in our prayer life

[51:25] tonight you need to talk to God maybe

[51:29] you need to be like David and ask God to

[51:31] search your heart to see what season of

[51:33] prayer you're

[51:34] in but don't quit don't give

[51:38] up how many say Pastor would you please

[51:40] pray for me God's working on my heart

[51:43] Pastor would you please pray for me if

[51:44] that you just slip your hand up put it

[52:11] prayer Lord I know there have been times

[52:14] in my life where I've let

[52:16] discouragement and fear and doubt

[52:19] overtake my prayer life Lord I pray you

[52:22] help me not to do that anymore but to

[52:26] stay close to you in your name I pray

[54:51] uh they have evacuated they're in the

[54:53] Tampa area and so pray for them uh they

[54:56] have evacuated their area that's kind of

[54:59] right where the ey is coming through the

[55:01] hurricane so pray for them I saw a video

[55:04] post from him today encouraging uh

[55:08] people and then also uh recommending

[55:11] evacuations is pretty tough in that

[55:13] little area

[55:15] there Southside Baptist Church so pray

[55:18] for them also pray for the pride Moors

[55:20] pastor pridemore and his wife uh they

[55:23] are in Florida as well and then also Al

[55:26] the Westgate Baptist Church uh Pastor

[55:30] Bruce per used to be her brother Bruce

[55:32] Turner pastored and so George per and

[55:36] Westgate Baptist Church they're also

[55:38] there in Tampa I a hurricane coming

[55:40] through there so pray for Westgate

[55:42] Baptist Church Southside Baptist church

[55:46] and then the pridemore family they're a

[55:47] little bit farther south I believe but

[55:50] pray

[55:52] for so we're praying this week

[55:54] especially for the hurricane protect

[55:56] protction and recovery for those from

[55:58] the last storm and then this storm as

[56:00] well so pray for God's protection now

[56:03] God has a way of moving

[56:07] storms and so we're need to trust in the

[56:11] Lord and so you pray for them and pray

[56:14] for the Lord uh to intervene and so you

[56:17] pray for those in the hurricane path we

[56:20] greatly appreciate that um next Monday

[56:23] the 14th uh Miss Brandy wbor is going to

[56:27] be having surgery and so you be in

[56:29] prayer for Miss windborn on the 14th

[56:32] having surgery and then uh on the 15th U

[56:37] Miss Leah White's been de a lot of

[56:38] things but she's going to have a

[56:39] procedure done that's pretty intense

[56:42] procedure uh that Lord willing will help

[56:45] with a lot of the stuff she's dealing

[56:47] with uh but pray extra hard for that um

[56:50] it does involve you know uh Type S not

[56:54] full type of surgery type thing to

[56:56] relieve pressure in her head so pray for

[56:59] her and pray for the family there that's

[57:02] next Tuesday that that's going to happen

[57:04] on the 15th so pray for them so pray for

[57:07] the whites and Miss Leah's upcoming

[57:09] procedure then also pray for Miss

[57:11] windborne on her surgery on Monday yes

[60:04] severe pain so pray for that if you

[63:08] adults conference and young marriage as

[63:11] well and so that would be a great great

[63:23] of continue just to pray for for those

[63:26] in the church that are battling sickness

[63:28] and that they'll get well and for the

[63:36] encourage you to pray for each other

[63:39] tonight dear heavenly father Lord we're

[63:41] so thankful that we can come to you in

[63:47] would intervene in a miraculous way and

[63:51] those that are dealing with the

[63:53] hurricane

[63:54] storms Lord we know that you can rapid

[63:57] change a storm from a category three to

[64:00] a category zero if you so choose to do

[64:03] but Lord if you send it through as it is

[64:06] or even if it strengthens Lord we pray

[64:08] that you'd be with those in its path

[64:10] that you'd protect them and then also

[64:12] the recovery that happens and Lord there

[64:14] were many churches we made mention of

[64:16] tonight Lord that you'd use them as a

[64:19] lighthouse and a beacon in those

[64:21] affected areas that Lord they would be

[64:24] able to share the love of Christ Christ

[64:26] and the gospel with those that are

[64:29] affected Lord we pray for Mrs windborne

[64:31] and her upcoming surgery we pray for

[64:34] Miss Leah and the procedure she's going

[64:36] to be having done Lord that you would

[64:38] intervene and You' guide the doctor's

[64:40] hands and Lord that you would just help

[64:43] those things to come to to pass the way

[64:46] you'd have them to be Lord we pray for

[64:48] Melissa's mom Sue up in Washington Lord

[64:51] and the things she's dealing with the

[64:53] excruciating pain Lord that you'd help

[64:55] the p to subside that MRI would become

[64:58] available so they could get the testing

[65:00] done they need to get tested and find a

[65:02] course of action to help relieve this

[65:05] situation Lord we pray for her and for

[65:08] Melissa she's up there as well

[65:09] ministering pray for her as well Lord we

[65:13] pray for the family in minko that lost

[65:15] their mother in a car accident Lord that

[65:17] you would help them and encourage them

[65:20] and help them Lord if they're not saved

[65:22] to come to the saving knowledge of you

[65:25] Lord we pray for Chris's Uncle Vester

[65:27] who's been diagnosed with colon cancer

[65:29] Lord that you'd help and intervene there

[65:32] and uh put your be the God of All

[65:34] Comfort to him uh Lord we pray for his

[65:36] coworker Joe who needs to come to the

[65:38] Lord Lord that you'd get a hold of his

[65:40] heart and Lord that you just be with him

[65:44] you've worked in our lives we're

[65:46] thankful for how you've worked in the

[65:48] lives of our missionaries and Lord we're

[65:50] thankful for all that you do for us help

[66:04] but Lord I know there's Heavy Hearts

[66:09] discouragement Lord I pray today that

[66:19] for the the young lady that my wife and

[66:22] I had opportunity to speak with on

[66:24] Sunday Lord and the things that she's

[66:27] dealing with and uh the difficulty there

[66:30] Lord I pray that you would help her and

[66:32] strengthen her be with my wife and I as

[66:34] we minister to her Lord that you'd use

[66:37] this situation to bring praise and glory

[66:40] to you and for lives to be changed

[66:42] through thank you for all that you've

[66:44] done for us Lord give us a great night

[66:49] share the gospel with somebody between
