[0:12] tragedy

[0:13] 39 minutes after midnight the first

[0:16] calls came into 9-1-1

[0:24] the door swings right open somebody

[0:26] walks in dressed all in black and then

[0:28] shortly after that that's when we heard

[0:29] gunshots open up it was just shot after

[0:31] shot out for shot

[0:35] he took a gun and he pointed it straight

[0:37] to my face and he was shooting at

[0:38] anything moving I mean just anywhere

[0:45] ever want to see something like that

[0:46] again 71 people

[0:49] were shot 12 are deceased I've worked in

[0:53] a lot of emergency departments it was a

[0:54] horrific scene our hearts break

[0:57] with the sadness of this unspeakable

[0:59] tragedy

[1:00] I mean this is the act of a very

[1:03] deranged mind our suspect's name is

[1:06] James Egan Holmes he had his hair a

[1:10] painted red he said he was uh the Joker

[1:13] we may never understand what leads

[1:16] anybody to terrorize their fellow human

[1:18] beings like this clearly this is a

[1:21] tragic day for this community and for

[1:23] this city we're going to stand by our

[1:24] neighbors in Colorado

[1:26] during this extraordinarily difficult

[1:29] time

[1:49] Colorado just across from the theater

[1:51] that became the scene of a massacre just

[1:54] after midnight today in the biggest mass

[1:57] shooting in the nation's history 70

[1:59] people were wounded or injured most of

[2:02] them by gunfire at least 12 people are

[2:04] dead 11 are in critical condition

[2:07] tonight the police say the lone gunman

[2:10] is a 24 year old man who lived just a

[2:12] few miles from here J
