[0:00] I'm Thaurus. Record lows put a big chill
[0:04] on Easter Sunday. Joey Chan wraps up the
[0:06] cold spell that's put spring itself
[0:08] under wraps. Anniversary Eve in Baghdad.
[0:11] Martin Seaungle has the latest from the
[0:13] Iraqi capital four years after its fall
[0:16] to US forces.
[0:21] >> This is the CBS Evening News with Russ
[0:25] Mitchell.
[0:26] >> Good evening everyone. Russ Mitchell is
[0:28] off. We begin tonight with the
[0:30] unseasonable Easter weather which had
[0:32] people in Jacksonville, Florida, waking
[0:33] up colder this morning than their
[0:35] counterparts far to the north in
[0:37] Anchorage, Alaska. Joey Chen is tracking
[0:40] the weather from the nation's capital
[0:41] tonight.
[0:44] >> On the steps of the Lincoln Memorial,

[1:01] the cold staff has been a stunner,
[1:03] coming at what ought to be the peak of
[1:05] its muchloved cherry blossom season.
[1:08] >> Were they prettier than this last
[1:09] weekend?
[1:10] >> Yeah, they were. Others bundled up their
[1:14] Easter finery to brave winds that felt
[1:16] more like winter or tried to pretend
[1:18] this simply wasn't happening.
[1:20] >> Last week, 82 degrees all nice. So, when
[1:24] I got my dress, I thought, hey, get some
[1:26] sandals.
[1:27] Yeah. Um, and now now I'm regretting it.
[1:33] It's cold.
[1:35] >> The city's cold shoulder wasn't enough
[1:37] to keep visitors from enjoying its
[1:38] biggest attraction. At least today
[1:40] though, they probably weren't missing
[1:42] any better weath
