[0:00] Tonight

[0:05] on Night Line, the reckoning as the Dow

[0:08] plunges again today. We investigate the

[0:11] CEO who collected $484

[0:14] million while his company was driven

[0:17] into the ground. Plus, mud wrestling. Is

[0:20] Barack Obama a liar? Is he pinging

[0:23] around with terrorists? And remember

[0:26] John McCain and the Keing Five savings

[0:28] and loans scandal. The Democrats do

[0:31] those highlights and more after an ugly

[0:33] day in campaign land. And Deep Freeze,

[0:37] the inspirational story of an Alaska

[0:40] high school football team that overcame

[0:43] arctic weather and roaming polar bears

[0:46] to play in the game of a lifetime. From

[0:49] the global resources of ABC News with

[0:52] Terry Moran, Martin Basher, and Cynthia

[0:55] McFaden in New York City. This is Night

[0:58] Line, October 6th, 2008.

[1:02] >> Good evening. I'm Cynthia McFaden. It

[1:03] was another roller coaster Monday on

[1:05] Wall Street. Despite Friday's $700

[1:08] billion rescue plan, the market closed

[1:11] today under 10,000 points for the first

[1:13] time in four years. It was a bad day,

[1:16] but not as bad as it might have been. At

[1:19] one point this afternoon, the Dow was

[1:20] down 800 points. It closed down 370. In

[1:25] Rome, Pope Benedict tried to calm

[1:27] financial jitters, emphasizing the

[1:28] importance of spiritual matters over

[1:30] material wealth. But in Washington, it

[1:33] was vast material wealth that had

[1:35] Congress asking hard questions of

[1:37] Richard Ful, the CEO of Lehman Brothers,

[1:40] when the company collapsed. Chief

[1:42] investigative correspondent Brian Ross

[1:43] reports the FBI is now investigating

[1:46] whether there was criminal wrongdoing on

[1:48] Wall Street. Brian

[1:50] >> Cynthia Fo
