[0:03] The Texas oil spill disaster becomes
[0:06] even more critical, endangering both
[0:08] shipping and the environment.
[0:11] And thousands of Israelis take to the
[0:13] streets to protest the Tel Aviv bus
[0:15] bombing.
[0:17] This is the CBS Evening News
[0:24] and this is Bob Schaefer reporting. Good
[0:26] evening. After floods and ruptured
[0:28] underground gasoline lines, which set
[0:30] off floating fire pools and rivers
[0:33] already overflowing their banks, there
[0:35] seemed no way things could get any worse
[0:37] in Houston. Well, they got worse. Last
[0:40] night, another pipe burst and sent crude
[0:42] oil pouring into the mess, threatening a

[0:47] ship channel from Houston to

[1:12] heavy impact. There are large pools of
[1:15] floating black oil out there. It's back
[1:17] in the trees. It's back in the houses
[1:20] that were flooded by the the high waters
[1:22] out there. A lot of nasty stuff.
[1:26] >> The oil's now moving toward Galveastston
[1:28] Bay, which is highly praised as a
[1:30] nursing habitat for fish and birds.
[1:32] Cleanup crews working to intercept the
[1:34] oil are hampered by floodwaters, but
[1:36] officials are still optimistic.
[1:38] >> I am really hopeful that we'll collect a
[1:41] lot of oil out there today and that
[1:43] we'l
