[0:39] new report of their own among their key
[0:41] findings abuse at more than 250 homes

[1:00] says, 1600 us nursing homes nearly
[1:03] onethird have been cited for abuse
[1:06] including injuries sexual abuse even
[1:08] death the idea that that residents and
[1:11] nursing homes would live in fear of
[1:13] abuse and not be able to communicated to
[1:16] others and that the nursing homes aren't
[1:18] watching enough to catch this sort of
[1:20] thing it just seems to me unconscionable
[1:23] Congressional investigators found one in
[1:25] five nursing homes failed to report
[1:27] incidents or even make sure staffers had
[1:29] no history of abuse in almost 8%
[1:32] residents suffered actual harm and in
[1:35] 256 homes across the country the abuse
[1:38] was so serious it put elderly lives in
[1:41] Jeopardy or actually resulted in death
[1:44] it's a shocking reality for thousands of
[1:46] older Americans a trend CBS News first
[1:49] reported last year was the story of
[1:51] Helen love she was attacked by a
[1:53] certified nurses assistant at a
[1:55] Sacramento facility he was angered that
[1:57] she' soiled herself
