[0:00] Direct from our newsroom in New York,
[0:02] this is the CBS Evening News with Roger
[0:05] Mudd substituting for Walter Cronkite
[0:07] and in Washington, Daniel Schorr, Barry
[0:10] Serafin, Bob Schieffer, Dan Rather in
[0:13] Springfield, Illinois, Bill Curtis in
[0:16] San Francisco, Del Vaughn in Jackson,
[0:18] Mississippi and Foster Davis in Jackson.
[0:22] Good evening. On the third day of his
[0:24] temporary wage price freeze, President
[0:26] Nixon is being confronted by a growing
[0:28] rebellion within organized labor. The
[0:30] freeze caught about 150,000 workers out

[1:26] Woodcock later said his 600,000 auto
[1:28] workers would not sit idly by if
[1:30] contract gains are wiped out after 90
[1:32] days.
[1:33] If they propose to nullify our
[1:35] contracts, we will consider those
[1:37] contracts
[1:39] no longer binding and will take any
[1:40] necessary action
