[0:04] This is the CBS Evening News

[0:09] with Dan Rather and Connie Chung.

[0:12] >> Good evening. US troops are still

[0:14] heading for the Gulf tonight wondering

[0:16] how many times this trip will be

[0:18] necessary.

[0:19] >> Saddam Hussein is still playing

[0:20] diplomatic hardball in his confrontation

[0:22] with Kuwait and the United States. The

[0:24] Iraqi army is pulling back from the

[0:26] Kuwaiti border, but at the same time

[1:04] having Saddam Hussein repeatedly pull

[1:06] their chain,

[1:07] >> I think he should be put out of power,

[1:09] killed. This guy got jobbed on the first

[1:10] time.

[1:11] >> Cracks are beginning to show in the

[1:13] alliance about what to do next. There

[1:15] was no consensus at today's meetings

[1:17] about calling for a military exclusion

[1:19] zone to keep Saddam's troops out of

[1:21] southern Iraq and away from Kuwait.

[1:23] >> The various means and techniques of

[1:25] doing that are under discussion.

[1:27] >> In fact, in Paris today the French

[1:29] Foreign Minister Alain Jupp
