[17:40] Church for allowing us to be here with

[17:42] you tonight and thank you Pastor for

[17:43] allowing me to uh give you an update and

[17:45] kind of share what God's been doing and

[17:47] then preach the word to you guys this

[17:49] evening just to kind of give you a recap

[17:51] we started the church two and a half

[17:52] years ago in the Bronx so I'm from

[17:56] Georgia Amber obviously is from here and

[17:58] so so uh there's a big culture shock

[18:00] there but God was good to us and uh he's

[18:03] been good to us so he's been faithful as

[18:06] the song said all of our days to kind of

[18:09] tell you how our store or how our church

[18:11] got started we met in a small storefront

[18:15] uh right there on the Main Avenue of our

[18:16] neighborhood and we looked and looked

[18:18] and looked all over the Bronx trying to

[18:20] find a place that would rent to us all

[18:22] over we had where we lived and we looked

[18:24] all over and everyone said no we don't

[18:26] want to church or uh there wasn't

[18:29] anything available well the place that

[18:31] we first started in God knew exactly

[18:33] that's where we needed to be and if you

[18:35] went by there today you'd think how in

[18:37] the world was there a church there we're

[18:39] in a bigger space now and I look back

[18:41] and I think how in the world did anyone

[18:42] come to this little tiny spot I to give

[18:44] you a frame of reference it was a 11 and

[18:47] a half feet by about 38 feet so we could

[18:50] fit six chairs on a row about six rows

[18:52] and we're about maxed out and so if we

[18:55] had a baptism we took out a row and so

[18:57] it was like standing room in the back

[18:59] but uh but God was so good to us uh

[19:01] during that time and it's amazing to see

[19:03] the lives that were changed just in two

[19:05] and a half years I can think of a a

[19:08] young lady named marleene who started

[19:09] coming to our church uh she was

[19:11] interested in the things of God and she

[19:13] was reading her Bible and she got on a

[19:16] phone call with a bunch of young people

[19:17] in the city and they were talking

[19:20] Doctrine but it was kind of weird so one

[19:22] of her friends said you need to find a

[19:23] good solid church and so he went online

[19:25] and he was looking for Church's

[19:27] doctrinal statements uh and she told me

[19:29] that she went through 20 Church's

[19:31] doctrinal statements until they found

[19:32] ours and he said you should go there and

[19:35] uh mind you we were a very young church

[19:36] at that point well Marlene came in and

[19:38] she says I need to be baptized I said

[19:40] that's wonderful let me hear how you got

[19:42] saved and uh she started going into a

[19:44] long explanation of um how God had

[19:48] brought her to certain points in her

[19:50] life and had brought her all these

[19:51] places U but she never had a Salvation

[19:54] testimony of a time when she accepted

[19:55] Christ as her Savior and I'll never

[19:57] forget was is uh New Year's Eve no yeah

[20:01] New Year's New Year's Eve Christmas Eve

[20:04] that's right she wanted to get baptized

[20:06] anyway it's Christmas Eve after the

[20:08] service my wife led her to Christ and uh

[20:11] the next week on New Year's Day she got

[20:13] baptized and her and another young lady

[20:15] went through discipleship with Amber uh

[20:17] the graduated discipleship and then the

[20:19] young man that she referred her to our

[20:22] church he ended up getting married and

[20:23] he took her away from our church but I

[20:26] guess that's how it happens sometimes

[20:27] but um is truly amazing and I just want

[20:30] to say it's a testimony to your church

[20:32] of the church members uh because Amber

[20:35] is such a blessing to us in the ministry

[20:38] um you know she would never get any

[20:41] acclamation or any praise but I want to

[20:44] give her just a second to praise her

[20:46] because she's good God's good and um you

[20:49] know there's so many people that she

[20:51] meets with on a weekly basis uh that she

[20:54] counsels with she's in charge of our

[20:56] children's ministry our music Ministry

[20:58] and um also our lady's Ministry she's

[21:02] doing more Ministry than I am but she

[21:05] has a lot of hats she wears and she's

[21:06] been doing a phenomenal job I think last

[21:08] week she led another lady to Christ and

[21:10] so it's it's truly awesome to see how

[21:12] God's working and it's a testament to

[21:14] your church for you know allowing people

[21:16] to serve and to use their talents and

[21:18] then to go marry a doofus and go across

[21:20] the country to start a church so praise

[21:23] God for for all that and it's it's

[21:25] exciting so we were in that small

[21:26] storefront and as soon as we got there

[21:28] like this isn't going to be big enough

[21:30] let's start looking for a new place and

[21:31] it took two years of being there before

[21:34] God opened the door uh to the place that

[21:36] we're meeting at now um and it's it's a

[21:39] lot bigger it's three times the size but

[21:41] it's still only 1350 square feet um so

[21:44] it's it's a very small still but um we

[21:46] have a now we have a children's class

[21:48] and so we have anywhere from seven to 12

[21:52] kids that come every week uh under the

[21:54] age of 12 and so now they're able to

[21:56] hear the gospel and our first uh week in

[21:58] our new building uh young little boy I

[22:00] think he's like six he came up to me

[22:02] after the service his first uh kids

[22:04] class and he looked at me and he goes

[22:06] that was

[22:07] awesome and uh he never said that to my

[22:10] preaching before but he he really

[22:11] enjoyed uh being in that kids class and

[22:14] so it was truly it's truly a blessing to

[22:16] see all God's doing but you know

[22:18] sometimes it's easy to get

[22:20] overwhelmed when uh when things don't

[22:22] seem like they should be going the way

[22:23] that they're going it's hard to find

[22:25] contentment and so this uh evening I

[22:27] want to preach a message to you on

[22:29] contentment that God has worked in my

[22:31] life and hopefully it will be a blessing

[22:33] to you as well when we were in that

[22:35] small building it was very unsettling at

[22:38] times realizing our growth was limited

[22:40] but uh but God knew exactly why we

[22:42] needed that place in the exact time and

[22:44] God opened the doors for where we're at

[22:46] now and it's truly a blessing if you

[22:47] take your Bibles and turn to Philippians

[22:49] chapter 4 with me this

[22:51] evening Philippians chapter 4

[23:00] and we'll begin reading and if you would

[23:01] please stand with us out of reverence

[23:03] for God's word we'll begin reading in uh

[23:05] Philippians chapter 4 verse excuse me

[23:07] verse number

[23:09] 10 down to verse 13 the Bible says but I

[23:12] rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at

[23:15] the last your care of me ha flourished

[23:17] again wherein you also wherein you were

[23:21] also careful but you lacked opportunity

[23:23] not that I speak in respect of what for

[23:25] I have learned and whatsoever state that

[23:28] I am am therewith to be content I know

[23:31] both how to be abased and I know how to

[23:33] abound everywhere and in all things I'm

[23:36] instructed both to be full and to be

[23:38] hungry both to abound and to suffer need

[23:41] I can do all things through Christ which

[23:43] strengthen me let's go to the Lord in

[23:45] prayer Heavenly Father Lord thank you

[23:47] for your word Lord thank you for the

[23:50] encouraging words that you have for us

[23:52] this uh evening Lord I do pray for

[23:55] contentment in my life Lord for every

[23:57] single person person that is here Lord

[24:00] father I I thank you that your ways are

[24:02] perfect Lord your timing is perfect and

[24:05] Lord sometimes we might not understand

[24:08] why things happen the way they do Lord

[24:10] we understand that you are in control of

[24:12] all things and heavenly father I do pray

[24:15] that you would speak to us through your

[24:16] word this evening and Lord help us to

[24:18] draw closer to you as a result of being

[24:20] here tonight it's in Jesus name we pray

[24:22] amen you may be seated all right so we

[24:27] are here in the book of Philippians and

[24:28] just by way of review of the book of

[24:30] Philippians was uh uh written by the

[24:32] Apostle Paul through inspiration of the

[24:34] holy spirit this church in Philippi was

[24:37] a church that was started in Acts

[24:38] chapter 16 and so as you go to Acts

[24:41] chapter 16 you see uh the church getting

[24:43] planted you know the Apostle Paul and

[24:45] Silas they went in there to Philippi and

[24:48] they looked for a synagogue to Worship

[24:50] in there wasn't any I say there had to

[24:52] be about 10 Jewish men to organize a

[24:55] synagogue and so there wasn't even that

[24:56] many Jewish men there and so they went

[24:59] down to the river and they met a lady

[25:01] named Lydia and a couple other ladies

[25:03] there that were worshiping by the river

[25:05] and he began to preach Christ and they

[25:07] got saved and uh all of a sudden a a

[25:10] demon-possessed uh lady was there and

[25:13] she was gloriously saved and people were

[25:16] upset they threw Paul and Silas in jail

[25:19] and as they're in jail uh they began to

[25:21] sing hymns and praise the Lord and if

[25:24] you ever want a book to look at to

[25:25] rejoice in all that God's done look in

[25:27] the book of Philippians it is the book

[25:29] of joy you might say Paul you're in jail

[25:32] Silas you're in jail why are you

[25:34] rejoicing because they realize it's all

[25:36] about God and so they were rejoicing in

[25:39] jail singing hymns and then an

[25:40] earthquake came and all of a sudden the

[25:42] Jailer is about to kill himself and he

[25:45] say do thyself no harm and that Jailer

[25:48] was saved in his whole household they

[25:49] were baptized added to the church and

[25:51] the church was started there and so as

[25:53] we come to the book of Philippians Paul

[25:55] is in an all familiar place he's under

[25:58] house arrest he's in jail and he's

[26:00] writing this book again and it had come

[26:02] right after his ship was wrecked on the

[26:04] way to jail how many of you would think

[26:07] it's a bad bad day if you're on the way

[26:09] to the prison house and the van that

[26:10] you're in wrecks and they throw you in

[26:12] another van and that's kind of what was

[26:14] happening with the Apostle Paul so he

[26:16] gets there to to to write this letter

[26:20] and he's rejoicing and rejoicing over

[26:23] and over again you know rejoicing is

[26:26] something that as Christians we should

[26:27] all do do but uh it starts with being

[26:30] content with where God has you in 1

[26:33] Timothy 66 it says but godliness with

[26:36] contentment is great gain if you are

[26:38] learn to be content you have great gain

[26:41] in your life if you're discontent you'll

[26:43] be a miserable person we must learn as

[26:46] Christians to be content people in

[26:48] whatsoever state that we are and so as

[26:51] we look at this passage we see

[26:53] contentment uh Benjamin Franklin said

[26:55] this contentment makes a poor man rich

[26:58] and discontentment makes a Rich Man Poor

[27:01] you know wealth is not going to bring

[27:03] contentment there are lots of wealthy

[27:05] people here in alino in Oklahoma City

[27:07] who are miserable this evening there are

[27:10] lots of poor people here in eleno this

[27:12] evening that are happier than a pig and

[27:14] mud that are extremely content and I

[27:18] hope that you're in that category I

[27:20] heard the story about a Quaker who was

[27:21] trying to teach a lesson to his

[27:23] neighbors about contentment and as he

[27:25] was trying to teach this lesson he put a

[27:27] a a a note in the paper and he said I

[27:30] have a lot of land for the most content

[27:32] person here in town I want to give it to

[27:35] the most content person well a guy came

[27:37] and he knocked on his door he said sir

[27:39] I'm here to collect the land I'm an

[27:41] extremely content person he's like I'm

[27:43] very happy with my marriage and my wife

[27:46] I'm very happy with all God's blessed me

[27:48] with my children my my my job I'm I'm

[27:51] very content I am the most content

[27:54] person the Quaker looked at him and he

[27:56] said okay if you're so content why do

[27:58] you want my land right teaching a

[28:00] valuable lesson on contentment now if I

[28:03] were to ask you this

[28:04] evening what's the one if you had

[28:07] everything that you've been wanting how

[28:09] would you be would you be fulfilled you

[28:12] bought that new house you got that new

[28:14] car you got that new job you bought you

[28:16] got everything you wanted how content

[28:19] would you be I have a feeling you

[28:21] wouldn't be any different than you are

[28:22] right now see things don't bring

[28:25] contentment but realizing our identity

[28:27] in Christ is the only thing that will

[28:29] bring contentment biblical contentment

[28:32] is uh the word that's contentment is

[28:34] basically defined as being

[28:36] self-contained so if you think about a

[28:38] city that is self-contained that has no

[28:40] need of outside resources think about

[28:43] America like 50 years ago right where we

[28:45] were self-contained we didn't need uh

[28:47] Chinese products we didn't need all

[28:49] those things we built it in house and we

[28:51] were

[28:52] self-contained that's what contentment

[28:53] is like in our lives we have no outside

[28:56] need we are content and all that God has

[28:58] given us so as 1 Timothy 66 says

[29:01] godliness with contentment is great gain

[29:04] which you notice with me this evening

[29:05] three keys to having and keeping

[29:08] contentment first of all contentment

[29:11] comes from Godly thinking so if you go

[29:14] back to chapter 4 in verse number

[29:16] 10 the Apostle Paul wrote this he said

[29:19] but I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that

[29:22] now at the last your care of me hath

[29:24] flourished again and so we see here more

[29:27] rejoicing amen If You Preach to the book

[29:29] of Philippians you're just keep saying

[29:31] rejoice in the Lord right we're going

[29:33] through this book on Sunday mornings and

[29:35] uh I love chapter three because he says

[29:37] hey don't grow weary of me saying

[29:38] rejoice in the Lord uh and so we

[29:41] shouldn't be weary of that we need to

[29:42] rejoice and it starts with how we think

[29:45] you see if you're constantly thinking of

[29:48] discontentment you will never be content

[29:50] if you say hey if I only had a wife I'd

[29:53] be content let me give you a news break

[29:56] that won't bring contentment

[29:59] if you say hey if I only had kids I

[30:02] would be content that's not going to

[30:04] bring contentment either if you say hey

[30:06] if I only had a new job I would be

[30:08] content you still won't be content you

[30:12] see our contentment starts from Godly

[30:14] thinking if you go back to verse number

[30:17] eight uh we see here it says finally

[30:19] Brethren and we see some things to think

[30:22] on it says whatsoever things are true

[30:25] you think about true thoughts or do you

[30:28] think man nobody loves me everybody

[30:30] hates me life is a drag or do you think

[30:33] man God loves me hey my family loves me

[30:36] whatsoever things are true whatsoever

[30:38] things are honest whatsoever things are

[30:40] just whatsoever things are pure

[30:43] whatsoever things are lovely whatsoever

[30:46] things are of Good Rapport if there be

[30:48] any virtue if there be any praise think

[30:50] on these things and so it starts with

[30:53] our thinking if you're constantly

[30:55] thinking negatively you will be a

[30:57] discontent person but if you remind

[30:59] yourself of how good God is and you

[31:02] think on the things that are honest the

[31:03] things that are true the things that are

[31:04] pure the things that are lovely you'll

[31:07] start to feel more content wherever you

[31:09] are the Apostle Paul realized that and

[31:12] it's amazing in verse number 10 he he

[31:15] says he rejoices in the Lord greatly and

[31:18] that if you go back to chapter verse 10

[31:20] he says that at your last your care of

[31:22] me had flourished again you see as Paul

[31:26] started this church they said sent him

[31:28] out to start more churches and as they

[31:30] sent them out Paul and Silas as they

[31:33] went out they they began to support them

[31:36] and they began to meet their needs

[31:37] physically and spiritually and they

[31:39] would bring encouraging messages to them

[31:42] and all of a sudden it

[31:44] stopped you can imagine how difficult

[31:47] that would be if you're an in discontent

[31:49] person you can imagine how the devil

[31:51] would say they don't love you they

[31:53] forgot about you they don't care what's

[31:55] happening to you nobody cares why are

[31:58] you doing this but you know we

[32:01] understand In this passage that there

[32:02] was Godly thinking that happened because

[32:05] if you look at that the last part of

[32:06] verse 10 he says wherein you are also

[32:09] careful but you lacked opportunity so he

[32:12] realized that this church didn't stop

[32:14] ministering to him because they didn't

[32:16] love him anymore they didn't stop

[32:18] ministering to him because they they

[32:20] said he doesn't need it anymore we we we

[32:22] don't care we don't love him no he says

[32:24] God reminded me that you just lacked

[32:27] opportunity because he understood that

[32:29] everything came from God God met every

[32:32] single need that he had and it was all

[32:34] from God and so he's like listen I can

[32:37] be discontent I could be angry but

[32:38] instead I have better thinking than that

[32:41] I think on things that are honest these

[32:44] people are saved because God used me to

[32:46] bring the gospel to them there's a

[32:48] church started now because God used me a

[32:51] wretched sinner the chiefest of all

[32:54] Sinners God used me and I Rejoice

[32:56] greatly

[32:58] and he reminded himself on how good God

[33:01] is and how God loves us but you know the

[33:04] opposite is true we have an enemy the

[33:06] devil hates you and he will constantly

[33:09] try to deceive you to make you think

[33:15] unloving thoughts 1 Corinthians 13 says

[33:24] right that that you know we are not to

[33:26] think evil of other

[33:28] about us They think pure thoughts honest

[33:30] thoughts true thoughts and so he's

[33:33] rejoicing greatly in the Lord you see he

[33:36] doesn't say I rejoice in you he says no

[33:37] I rejoice in the Lord he is the

[33:39] sustainer of all things and he finds his

[33:42] contentment by thinking on those things

[33:44] and how God has provided for him

[33:47] Galatians 610 says as we have therefore

[33:51] opportunity let us do good unto all men

[33:53] especially unto them who are of the

[33:55] household of faith we want to say we're

[33:58] very thankful for you all you know not

[34:01] that we desire a gift as Paul Paul said

[34:03] but we're just thankful that there are

[34:05] people in elino that read our prayer

[34:07] letters that pray for us and uh it was a

[34:09] blessing heing Miss Robbie say she's

[34:11] been praying for a lady named Bernice in

[34:12] our church who has been in our church

[34:15] for two and a half years and it's still

[34:17] lost still holding on to Catholicism

[34:19] that's a blessing that's an

[34:21] encouragement to us and to to realize

[34:24] that there are people all over the world

[34:26] that are interested in

[34:28] it's it's truly

[34:30] amazing this church met Paul's needs but

[34:33] he said hey I've learned and whatsoever

[34:34] state I'm in I'm I'm going to be content

[34:37] in job 1: 121 it says Naked came I out

[34:40] of my mother's womb and naked shall I

[34:42] return neither the lord gave and the

[34:44] Lord have taken away blessed be the name

[34:47] of the Lord how was your

[34:49] thinking the lord gave the Lord take

[34:52] away now I'm

[34:54] angry know the the Lord has helped me in

[34:57] times past but now he's not and and I'm

[34:59] just going to pck it up how do you think

[35:03] about what God has done in your life do

[35:05] you realize everything in your life

[35:07] comes from God it is all a gift from the

[35:10] Lord or do you think hey God doesn't

[35:13] care anymore it's

[35:15] over I just I no one loves me do you

[35:19] fill your Li your life with lies or do

[35:21] you think on those things that are true

[35:24] you remind yourself if you're a

[35:25] Christian here this evening have you

[35:27] reminded yourself lately on how good God

[35:29] is in Salvation and how God loved you so

[35:33] much that he sent his only begotten son

[35:36] to die on the cross for your sin I have

[35:39] news for you I wouldn't give my child

[35:41] for any of you in here but God's so good

[35:44] that he gave his only begotten son to

[35:47] die for your sin God is good remind

[35:50] yourself of the goodness of God and as

[35:52] the song was was just sung the goodness

[35:55] of God remind yourself over over how

[35:58] faithful he's been it's so easy to get

[36:01] discouraged so easy to complain and to

[36:04] think how I wish I had this I wish I had

[36:07] that but let's remind ourselves to

[36:09] remember all that God has done in James

[36:12] 1:17 it says every good gift and every

[36:15] perfect gift is from above and cometh

[36:18] down from the Father of Lights with whom

[36:20] is no variableness Nei shadow of turning

[36:23] see we we understand that everything is

[36:26] from God

[36:28] when we understand that we can be

[36:29] content hey I I I don't know where my

[36:32] next paycheck's going to come hey I I

[36:33] don't know if I'm going to be able to

[36:34] pay rent hey I don't know what's gonna

[36:36] happen tomorrow but bless God I know

[36:39] that he knows right and I can trust in

[36:41] that and I can have faith in that when

[36:43] we got into this building it was very

[36:46] overwhelming we did a complete gut of

[36:48] the building and uh very naively I said

[36:53] this might cost 10 grand we'll be done

[36:54] in a month it cost 40 Grand and we done

[36:57] in three months our lease ended on the 1

[37:00] of January but God is good he knew he

[37:03] knew all that would be orchestrated he

[37:05] knew every single detail he he spoke to

[37:08] our landlord and he said hey you can

[37:09] extend it as long as you need he knew

[37:12] exactly what we had need of God provided

[37:15] everything that we had need of I didn't

[37:18] know I mean but God knew God will supply

[37:22] all your need according to his riches

[37:24] and Glory by Christ Jesus in verse

[37:27] number 19 of this chapter like how

[37:29] Pastor put it this way this morning he's

[37:31] not going to supply all your wants he

[37:34] will supply all your needs don't get it

[37:38] confused contentment is not only found

[37:40] in right thinking but contentment

[37:42] secondly is learned verse 11 and

[37:50] 12 verse 11 not that I uh speak in

[37:54] respect of one for I have learned in

[37:56] whatsoever I am there withth be content

[37:59] See the Apostle Paul had to learn a

[38:01] valuable lesson that all of us need to

[38:03] learn it's how to be content Lord help

[38:06] me to be content and so he says in verse

[38:09] 12 I know both how to be abased and I

[38:12] know how to abound everywhere and in all

[38:15] things I am instructed both to be full

[38:17] and to be hungry to abound and to suffer

[38:20] need see he said Hey listen God taught

[38:22] me these lessons through my life if you

[38:25] think about the Apostle Paul he abounded

[38:27] quite great in the Jewish religion he

[38:29] was a Pharisee of the Pharisees you know

[38:32] he he was touching the the law he was so

[38:35] close he followed it to the tea he was

[38:37] persecuting the church he was so he had

[38:40] such righteous indignation in his heart

[38:42] that he wanted to see the early church

[38:45] eradicated until he met Jesus you see we

[38:49] we see that contentment is learned so he

[38:52] he went from having everything he could

[38:53] possibly want in the Jewish religion to

[38:55] being at the Pinnacle of everything he'

[38:58] ever studied and hoped and worked his

[39:00] way up towards to then being in a prison

[39:04] ship to being Shipwrecked to being

[39:07] without to being abased to being hungry

[39:11] to being starving think about the letter

[39:13] he he he he sent out how he wanted his

[39:16] cloak in prison how he wanted his quill

[39:19] how he had nothing he was destitute he

[39:21] had nothing but he learned how to be

[39:25] content you will never find contentment

[39:27] in things and he learned that his

[39:30] contentment is only in

[39:32] Jesus you know it's so funny how we can

[39:34] see discontentment in other people but

[39:37] we don't see it in our own life know we

[39:39] could take our kids shopping and we'll

[39:41] be like man where did these little brats

[39:42] come from you know I want this I need

[39:45] this I need that I want this I need

[39:48] this probably came from us man I wish I

[39:51] had that man I wish I had this man it

[39:54] would be nice if we had that you we can

[39:57] others but I want to ask you this

[39:59] evening are you a Content person what

[40:02] lessons did God have does God have to

[40:04] teach you to be content contentment is

[40:06] learned we need to be to understand that

[40:10] in verse 11 the Apostle Paul stated that

[40:12] in whatsoever State I am I have learned

[40:15] to be content would you be content if

[40:18] you got persecuted for what you

[40:21] believe would you be content if the

[40:24] police came in and they arrested you for

[40:26] being a Christian

[40:28] you were thrown in

[40:30] jail would you still be as content as

[40:33] you are now if your home got foreclosed

[40:36] on would you be content in any area of

[40:40] your life if the circumstances changed

[40:43] you see contentment isn't in what we

[40:45] have and what we go through contentment

[40:47] is found only in Jesus and so he

[40:49] understood that contentment is through

[40:51] my relationship with God that God loved

[40:54] me I can be content and learning that

[40:56] the secret to contentment is to accept

[40:59] what the Lord has given you to to

[41:01] understand the sovereignty of God do you

[41:04] realize that God is Sovereign that he

[41:07] has everything worked out there's

[41:09] nothing that you're going through that's

[41:11] taking God by surprise he is completely

[41:14] Sovereign and when we understand that we

[41:16] can be content God this hasn't happened

[41:19] yet but I know you're you're in control

[41:21] I'm going to be content Lord I got

[41:24] passed up by that promotion and I'm

[41:26] upset about it but you know what I I

[41:28] understand you probably have something

[41:29] better for me down the road I can be

[41:31] content you know hey I I everyone has

[41:34] forsaken me but hey God I realize that

[41:37] you still love me we can learn to be

[41:40] content in everything but it starts with

[41:43] being born again do you know Jesus

[41:46] Christ as your savior if you were to die

[41:48] tonight you know beyond a shadow of a

[41:50] doubt you would spend all of eternity in

[41:52] heaven you say I think so you're not

[41:55] going to be a very content person

[41:57] if you have your salvation settled

[41:59] that's where contentment begins but if

[42:01] you're constantly questioning and

[42:03] wondering I don't know you'll be hard

[42:05] for you to be content but once you do

[42:07] know once you have that settled that is

[42:09] the foundation of contentment in our

[42:11] life learn how to be content rest in

[42:15] your salvation understand that God loves

[42:18] you so much never lose sight of that of

[42:22] how much God loves you learn to accept

[42:25] what God's given you

[42:27] if you've gone through trials and

[42:28] tribulations accept it constantly

[42:31] questioning it isn't going to help

[42:33] anything you won't find contentment by

[42:35] asking why this happen I can't believe

[42:38] this I can't another thing when it rains

[42:41] it pours in my life just accept it God

[42:45] this is what you have for

[42:47] me Lord thank you for it Lord help me to

[42:51] to live with this Lord help me to be

[42:54] content Lord I I I need you contentment

[42:57] isn't something that you're going to get

[42:59] by osmosis you're not going to get it by

[43:01] buying something you're not going to

[43:03] going to get it by having a relationship

[43:05] you're going to get it by resting in

[43:07] Jesus Christ and understanding Lord all

[43:10] I have is you and that's all I need Lord

[43:12] help me to be content in every area of

[43:15] my life it's so easy to get

[43:20] sidetracked it's so easy to get on your

[43:22] phone and to start dreaming daydreaming

[43:25] I wish I wish I wish wish I need I need

[43:29] I need there's a survey done uh about

[43:33] the amount of needs people need there

[43:36] was a recent survey and then they

[43:37] compared it to about 50 years ago 50

[43:40] years ago the average American said they

[43:42] need about 70 things the the recent

[43:44] survey said they need over 300 things in

[43:47] their life that they need not once that

[43:49] they need I I can't live without this I

[43:52] mean how self-absorbed have we become as

[43:55] a society I need I need I need well if

[43:58] you want to learn to be content it's

[44:00] found in God's word right thinking

[44:03] learning it you know it's great to find

[44:06] content I heard about this pastor who

[44:08] was doing a visit to a little Widow lady

[44:10] and as he was going up to knock on the

[44:12] door the door kind of opened up a little

[44:13] bit and he looked in there and he saw

[44:15] that little old Widow lady sitting there

[44:17] at the table she had a glass of milk and

[44:19] a couple cookies and she was praying and

[44:22] he walked in he overheard her and she

[44:24] said Lord salvation in this

[44:27] boy I'm so you're so good to me Lord you

[44:30] know praise God I got a couple cookies

[44:32] it's the milk and I'm saved what more

[44:35] could lady you l once know how much of

[44:38] you thought Lord I don't need any you've

[44:41] been so good to me Lord whatever you

[44:44] give me that's great but I don't need

[44:46] any see the Apostle Paul had learned hey

[44:49] it doesn't matter if I basing I'm

[44:52] abounding I've learned to be hungry and

[44:54] I've learned to suffer need I I it be

[44:57] full I have learned all of these things

[44:59] not that I speak in respect of one I

[45:02] have learned in whatsoever State I am

[45:04] there would to be content I know how to

[45:05] be a based and I know how to abound

[45:07] everywhere and in all things I'm

[45:09] instructed both to be full and to be

[45:11] hungry to abound and suffer you you know

[45:14] is that your

[45:16] testimony I've learned to suffer need

[45:19] I've learned to abound I've learned to

[45:21] be full and I've learned to be hungry

[45:24] how many of us in here have not learned

[45:26] to be hunger right a little bit of

[45:29] hunger pain comes Boom the be line to

[45:32] the story right how many of you have

[45:34] learned that hey I have learned these

[45:36] things that would be your testimony if

[45:38] not start to apply it to your life start

[45:41] to evaluate what kind of things that you

[45:43] are constantly thinking about what kind

[45:45] of things do you want what would make

[45:47] you

[45:48] happy your happiness should be found in

[45:51] the Lord our happiness is not in things

[45:54] 1 Timothy 68 says and having f rment let

[45:57] us be therewith content now I'm looking

[46:00] at every one of you and I know that you

[46:01] all have rment on praise God for that

[46:04] right and I'm pretty sure that all of us

[46:05] have had a meal today or at least in the

[46:08] last week we should be pretty content

[46:10] then what more do you need think about

[46:13] how Jesus taught his disciples and he

[46:15] says look at the little birds the fowls

[46:16] of the air they didn't earn that you

[46:19] know they didn't they didn't go in the

[46:20] build all this food but your heavenly

[46:23] father has provided these things how

[46:24] much better are you than they he says'

[46:27] look at the field look at the flowers in

[46:29] the field you know they they didn't toil

[46:31] they didn't dig the ground they didn't

[46:32] do all that but your heavenly father has

[46:34] created those things how much greater

[46:37] are you than those you know we have a

[46:39] heavenly father that loves us learn to

[46:42] be content because he is in charge he

[46:45] knows all things choose to be content

[46:47] with what God has put in your life don't

[46:50] compare yourself with other

[46:52] people when you begin to compare

[46:54] yourself it's very easy to get in when

[46:58] you start to think man I wish I had what

[47:00] they had man I wish I had a church with

[47:03] a

[47:04] gym man I wish I had more than 1300

[47:07] square feet no it's real easy to get

[47:10] discontent but praise God there were 40

[47:14] something people sitting in the Bronx

[47:16] this morning worshiping Jesus and that

[47:18] they they were there that weren't in

[47:20] church before praise God that that what

[47:23] God is doing be content in whatever God

[47:26] has placing your life learn to be

[47:29] content then we see finally contentment

[47:32] brings great power verse 13 I can do all

[47:36] things through Christ which

[47:38] strengtheneth

[47:39] me God gives us the power and ability to

[47:43] do all things through him he gives us

[47:46] that power to have contentment in our

[47:48] life and difficult

[47:50] circumstances he he allows us to find

[47:53] contentment I heard about a little boy

[47:55] who broke his arm and uh he he was going

[47:58] to get the cast off of his arm and he

[48:00] went to the doctor's office and he said

[48:01] Doctor am I going to be able to play the

[48:03] piano again the doctor said yes Little

[48:05] Johnny you'll be able to play the piano

[48:07] Johnny looked at the doctor and said

[48:09] praise God I've always wanted to learn

[48:11] how to play the

[48:12] piano you know I can do all things to

[48:15] God who gives me strength does not mean

[48:17] that God is going to give you

[48:18] Supernatural power to do anything that

[48:20] you ever wanted to do right but he does

[48:23] give you the strength to have content he

[48:26] does you the strength to do his will and

[48:29] he does give you the strength to

[48:30] continue on day by day serving him and

[48:34] we need to to learn that his contentment

[48:36] brings great power in our life if you're

[48:38] a Content person here this evening you

[48:40] are more blessed than the richest man in

[48:43] the world you think about Jeff Bezos he

[48:46] has everything his heart could ever

[48:48] desire but I guarantee you if you have a

[48:51] relationship with Jesus you are more

[48:52] content than that lost man will ever be

[48:55] we need contentment we need to find it

[48:58] we need to learn it and we need to live

[48:59] it Galatians 2:20 says I am crucified

[49:02] with Christ nevertheless I live yet not

[49:05] I but Christ liveth in me the life which

[49:08] I now live in the flesh I live by the

[49:10] faith of the Son of God who loved me and

[49:13] gave himself for me would you die to

[49:15] yourself and say Lord I don't want what

[49:18] I want I want what you want Lord I I I

[49:21] want my contentment to not be in my

[49:23] wealth I don't want my contentment to be

[49:25] in my 401k I don't want my contentment

[49:28] to be where I live I want my contentment

[49:30] to be in you and you alone Lord I am

[49:33] crucified with Christ Cory ten Boom said

[49:36] this you will never know Jesus is all

[49:39] you need Until you realize Jesus is all

[49:41] you

[49:42] have you know sometimes in our society

[49:45] we have everything we could possibly

[49:47] want yet we want more then we look at

[49:50] Believers in China that have

[49:53] nothing you know we look at Believers in

[49:56] Africa are living destitute lives but

[49:59] they know Jesus Christ as their Savior

[50:01] and they wouldn't change it for

[50:02] anything you look at people all over the

[50:05] world that find their contentment and

[50:07] they are happy would you seek

[50:10] contentment in your life John 155 says I

[50:13] am the vine ye are the branches he that

[50:16] abideth in me and I in him the same

[50:19] bringeth forth much fruit for without me

[50:22] you can do nothing see without Jesus no

[50:25] power you're not going to do anything

[50:28] you're not going to be content you're

[50:30] going to be miserable with Jesus I can

[50:33] do all things through Christ which

[50:34] strengthens me be plugged into the

[50:37] source would you spend time researching

[50:40] your Bible by studying it applying it to

[50:44] your life don't look look for it for

[50:46] information but for inspiration Lord

[50:48] show me how to live my life through your

[50:50] word would you study God's word and say

[50:53] man I want to look whatsoever things are

[50:55] pure Lord help me to find things that

[50:57] are pure in my life Lord help me not to

[51:00] to to look at un unpure things Lord what

[51:03] what things are true Lord help me to

[51:04] think on Truth Thy word is truth Lord

[51:07] help me to to read your word more to

[51:10] continue on studying God's word and then

[51:13] you will find

[51:15] contentment you will never have true

[51:18] contentment until you learn to be

[51:20] content until you think on the right

[51:22] things until you realize that there's

[51:25] power in being cont your life you can do

[51:27] all things through Christ which get you

[51:29] strength this evening I want to ask you

[51:31] a few questions do you know Christ as

[51:34] your

[51:35] savior if you can answer no to that

[51:37] question let me challenge you to get

[51:38] that settled this evening know for sure

[51:41] that if you were die today that you

[51:42] would spend all of eternity in heaven

[51:44] get that settled I'm sure most of you in

[51:47] here have heard the gospel but if

[51:49] there's some that haven't Jesus loves

[51:51] you he died on the cross for your sin

[51:55] your sin was an off against the holy God

[51:57] but he loved you so much that he sent

[51:59] his only begotten son to be that

[52:02] propitiation that satisfactory payment

[52:04] for your sin that whosoever shall call

[52:07] upon the name of the Lord shall be saved

[52:10] would you put your faith in Jesus Christ

[52:11] Alone would you realize that your sin is

[52:14] going to have you go to a place called

[52:16] hell but God loved you so much that he

[52:19] didn't want to have and that he sent

[52:21] Jesus to be the substitute for your sin

[52:23] and by faith would you believe that

[52:25] Jesus died for your sin and that he rose

[52:28] again three days later Victorious over

[52:30] the grave would you get that settled

[52:32] this evening you trust

[52:35] Christ secondly would you choose to be

[52:38] content contentment is a

[52:40] choice we all have a choice to make we

[52:44] could say I'm not going to be content

[52:45] until I have this I'm not going to be

[52:47] content until I have that or would you

[52:50] just say Lord I realize everything is

[52:52] from you and I'm choosing today to be

[52:55] content

[52:57] help me not to be

[52:58] discontent may we pray something like

[53:00] this Lord when I discontented thought

[53:02] comes to my mind convict me remind me of

[53:06] the goodness of God that I might forsake

[53:09] that and be and remember what you've

[53:11] done in my life would you set a a

[53:13] thankful Journal thanking God for all

[53:16] he's done for you would you go to your

[53:18] prayer journal and look at the answer to

[53:20] prayer that God has given you would you

[53:22] remind yourself and think on those

[53:24] things that God has done in your life

[53:27] it's so easy to get distracted would you

[53:29] remind yourself to be content change

[53:31] your

[53:32] thinking think and remember on all that

[53:34] God has done don't compare yourselves

[53:37] with others that is a thief to

[53:41] content Philippians there's different

[53:43] thieves to

[53:44] Joy chapter one The Thief is is people

[53:48] right or circumstances you know

[53:50] circumstances can rob your joy now we

[53:53] see that we can be joyful in whatever

[53:55] state that we're in we can learn to be

[53:57] content we can learn to have joy

[54:00] secondly people can rob our joy maybe

[54:02] there's someone in your life that robs

[54:04] your joy well they don't have to see we

[54:08] can be content in whoever God brings in

[54:10] our

[54:11] life uh no matter what circumstances

[54:14] trials people we can be content would

[54:17] you choose this evening be content with

[54:19] every head bowed and every eye closed

[54:32] T do you know whether you are content or

[54:38] not for young people

[54:41] sometimes one of the things that robs

[54:43] your contentment is

[54:46] time you want it to come quicker you

[54:49] want it to be faster are you content

[54:52] with where you're at right now are you

[54:55] in a hurry to get somewhere else examine

[54:59] your heart tonight let God look at your

[55:02] heart and discover have I learned to be

[55:07] content or do I thirst for other things

[55:12] and I'm not content in Christ heavenly

[55:21] word help us to examine our hearts

[55:27] if we truly have contentment from God or

[60:42] Catholicism and turn unto thee and be

[60:44] fully saved we pray that you give them

[60:47] safe journey back home but we pray

[60:49] father for them that as they continue to

[60:52] do that work as we heard tonight with

[60:55] contentment they being an example of

[60:57] that we might take that upon ourselves

[61:03] and Miss Amber when they need it for
