[0:18] to Los Angeles, CALIFORNIA. WELCOME to

[0:20] the Late Late Show. I'm your host TV

[0:22] Ferguson. PLEASE SIT DOWN. RELAX. UNDER

[0:25] YOUR PANTS, TAKE YOUR SHOES OFF. TAKE

[0:27] OFF YOUR WIG. THROW IT ASIDE. YOU DON'T

[0:28] NEED IT.

[0:32] >> It's a great day for America, everybody.

[0:33] IT'S FRIDAY. THANK GOD IT'S FRIDAY. I

[0:36] LOVE THAT.

[0:41] I uh I do love Unless, of course, this

[0:44] is a repeat, in which case, uh Thank God

[0:47] it's any day CBS put in.

[0:52] No, I love Friday. I'm very happy it's

[0:54] Friday. a very, you know, sometimes I

[0:56] say it's a great day for America and

[0:57] it's not really a great day for

[0:58] American. Well, today it really is. I'm

[1:01] not kidding you.

[1:03] Well, I'm kidding you. NO, I'M NOT

[1:05] ACTUALLY. I This is true. The The What

[1:08] happened today is the FDA

[1:11] ended today the ban on silicone breast

[1:14] implants. THANK YOU, FDA. THANK YOU.

[1:17] Thank you. AND THAT I DON'T KNOW about

[1:20] where you live, but for Los Angeles,

[1:23] that's a cause FOR A PARADE.

[1:26] THAT'S WHAT WE LOVE AND FOR THE PAST 14

[1:28] YEARS IN LOS ANGELES, THEY'VE BEEN using

[1:31] saline implants.

[1:33] These are salty BAGS OF WATER.

[1:37] THAT'S DANGEROUS. YOU COULD DROWN WHEN

[1:38] YOU'RE DOING THE MOTORBOAT.

[1:43] YEAH. OH, come on. Everybody loves the

[1:45] motorboat. It's the only thing men and

[1:47] women agree on.

[1:52] Finally, something we can agree on, the

[1:54] motorboat.

[1:55] It's a a great day for those of us who

[1:57] enjoy breasts. Not such a great day.

[2:01] Not such a great day if you're uh trying

[2:03] to get the new PlayStation 3. Do you

[2:05] hear this? Computer nerds are being

[2:07] trampled, beaten, shot at. They are.

[2:10] They're they're being they're being

[2:12] wiped out trying to get one of these.

[2:14] All I can say is you should stay out of

[2:16] my way. If I want a PlayStation 3, I'm

[2:18] going to act. Take that, computer nerds.

[2:24] Oh, we'll get you. Don't you worry.

[2:27] That's them working computers.

[2:30] Uh, what else has happened? President

[2:31] Bush is in Vietnam. Uh, he's he's there

[2:34] right now. He said it's beautiful. He

[2:35] said it's changed a lot since he wasn't

[2:37] there 30 years ago.

[2:39] He hardly recognized it.

[2:43] MY

[2:45] GEE, WHEN I WAS HERE, NOT HERE YEARS

[2:47] AGO, this was all different. I'm doing

[2:50] some traveling myself after this, so

[2:51] this is a very big weekend for me. I'm

[2:53] very excited. After the show tonight, I

[2:55] am going to Italy for the Tom Cat

[2:56] wedding.

[2:59] Thank you. That's what I said myself

[3:01] when I got the invitation.

[3:05] No, I'm actually going to Tom's bachelor

[3:07] party tonight. The the wedding is

[3:08] tomorrow, the bachelor party for Thomas

[3:10] tonight. And I am excited cuz I haven't

[3:11] jumped out of a cake in years. I am

[3:13] moving. I'm going back to my old job.

[3:16] And I'll be using my I'll be using my

[3:18] stripper name, Rump Towers. UH,

[3:21] WHERE'S THE BOY?

[3:24] WHERE ARE YOU, TOM?

[3:27] NOW, Katie has been engaged before uh I

[3:30] think to uh a guy named Dawson or Greek

[3:32] or something like that.

[3:34] Tom has been married uh how many like

[3:36] he's been he's been married twice

[3:38] before. Once once to a man, Nicole

[3:39] Kidman. That's a man. Nicole Kidman.

[3:43] I

[3:50] tip your waitresses, Nicole Kid, man.

[3:52] Hey. Hey.

[3:55] No, this wedding is is a big deal.

[3:57] There's 500 people going to this

[3:59] wedding. And I actually didn't get an

[4:00] invitation.

[4:03] That's the noise I MADE WHEN I DIDN'T

[4:05] GET THE INVITATION. I went,

[4:08] it probably got lost in the mail because

[4:10] it was addressed to someone else or

[4:12] something.

[4:14] But none of uh none of Katie's

[4:16] ex-boyfriends are going or Tom's. None

[4:18] of them are.

[4:25] I'm not going to the wedding. I I try I

[4:26] actually try not to go to weddings. I

[4:28] can think of at least two I wish I

[4:29] hadn't been at. But the uh

[4:34] I was never mind.

[4:38] Now, people think that Tom Cruz is the

[4:40] bigger star, but Katie Holmes is

[4:41] actually from a very, very distinguished

[4:43] family, and people don't know she is

[4:44] actually the great granddaughter of

[4:45] Sherlock Holmes. Uh,

[4:48] yeah. Yeah.

[4:51] CHECK IT ON THE GOOGLE.

[4:54] THE INTERNET DOES NOT LIE. NEVER.

[4:59] She's the granddaughter of or the

[5:01] great-granddaughter of Sherlock Holmes,

[5:02] the fictional character, and the

[5:04] daughter

[5:06] and the daughter of the actor John

[5:07] Holmes. Um, who I saw one of his movies.

[5:11] He wasn't a very good actor, but he had

[5:12] a big part. The uh

[5:16] kid man,

[5:22] I'm sorry. I'm playing Vegas this

[5:23] weekend and I think it's kind of getting

[5:24] to me, you know. Anyway, Tom and Katie,

[5:27] very different backgrounds. Uh, so

[5:29] they've designed their own ceremony. Uh,

[5:31] it'll but, you know, they'll they'll

[5:32] still have traditional parts of it.

[5:33] It'll still end traditionally, you know,

[5:35] with a you may now kiss the beard, the

[5:36] bride. You may now kiss the bride.

[5:42] What

[5:43] was a slip of the tongue? No, I actually

[5:46] I am going to depart from the late night

[5:47] tradition. I'm actually going to say

[5:48] this. Uh, Tom and Katy, I wish you good

[5:51] luck and all the best. Sincerely, thanks

[5:52] for all the material that I've had at

[5:54] your expense. But but really uh no more

[5:56] jokes. Good luck on your wedding. I know

[5:58] you watch the show every night in Italy.

[6:00] So good luck uh with your wedding and I

[6:02] look forward to more fake babies. I

[6:04] COULDN'T HELP MYSELF. I'm sorry. That's

[6:06] really it.

[6:13] I you know I'm not going to the wind.

[6:14] But you know what I am excited about uh

[6:16] this weekend is the the new James Bond

[6:18] movie opens. It opens today in fact. And

[6:20] this new guy Daniel Craig is getting

[6:21] rave reviews as Bond. I actually

[6:23] auditioned for the role. Did you know

[6:25] this?

[6:26] >> I did. We have my audition tape. Have a

[6:28] look.

[6:29] >> James Bond auditions. Take 72.

[6:34] >> My name is James

[6:37] Bond. James.

[6:40] >> My name is James Bond

[6:42] and I'm an alcoholic.

[6:48] >> THEY NEVER GO BACK.

[6:51] THEY never they never call back. Do you

[6:54] know that the actual the the real James

[6:56] Bond is the grandson of the man who

[6:58] invented Gold Bond medicated powder?

[7:03] Check it on the internet.

[7:06] Look on THE GOOGLE. YOU'LL FIND OUT.

[7:10] THAT'S RIGHT. I'M CHANGING MY VOICE TO

[7:12] THIS FOR SOME REASON. I'M GOING TO TALK

[7:14] LIKE MY MOTHER FOR the rest of the show.

[7:17] OH YES. I OH, I'M POSSESSED BY MY

[7:20] MOTHER. OKAY. WHAT ARE YOU DOING?

[7:26] Sorry everybody. I'm back. NO, YOU'RE

[7:28] NOT. YES, I AM.

[7:31] Do you know the new Bond movie is called

[7:33] Casino Royale? Speaking of casinos, I

[7:35] will be at the Orleans Casino in Vegas

[7:37] this weekend. Shows at 8. Buy tickets

[7:38] now or you'll miss out on all the

[7:40] disappointment.

[7:44] I like to disappoint my audiences in

[7:46] Vegas cuz then they feel better about

[7:47] losing money later on. the night. I

[7:49] think it's fine. There's nothing wrong

[7:50] WITH THAT. LIKE, WELL, AT LEAST we're

[7:51] not at the Scottish car. IT'S ALL RIGHT.

[7:56] If you don't get into the shows, you can

[7:57] find me during the day. I'll beat the

[7:59] sports book cuz it's the Michigan Ohio

[8:00] State game this weekend. So, I'll beat

[8:02] the sports book. I love the giant

[8:03] screens in the sports book of Vegas.

[8:04] It's like the IMAX of Desperation.

[8:14] Ah

[8:17] the 15 games going on, people rooting

[8:19] for different events, you know. It's all

[8:21] people watching different things.

[8:22] Fantastic. You know, some guy will JUMP

[8:23] UP AND GO. YEAH. YEAH. AND ANOTHER GUY

[8:25] WILL BE LIKE, "AH, IT'S LIKE IT'S LIKE

[8:27] WHACK-A-OLE. IT'S LIKE

[8:31] I will go and I don't I don't really

[8:33] gamble though. I don't actually. It's

[8:35] not my thing cuz I do I'm Scottish, you

[8:37] know. We don't do that, you know. So So

[8:41] let me get this straight. I give you $1

[8:43] and you might give me $5 back or you

[8:47] might give me nothing back. Yeah, I

[8:49] don't think so, Paul.

[8:53] I got to watch the horse racing at the

[8:55] cuz horses are pretty. That's all. I

[8:57] might bet on the Michigan Ohio State

[8:58] game. Uh I won't say which one I'm

[9:00] picking though. I think I bet it's a

[9:02] private matter between a degenerate

[9:03] gambler and a and a crew. You know,

[9:05] it'll be cute. It's like a vote.

[9:10] When I'm in Vegas though, my days are

[9:12] free and I can't see the Bond film

[9:13] during the day. I'm I can't see for me

[9:14] there's night movies and day movies. You

[9:16] know what I'm saying? So Bond is a night

[9:18] movie. I can't see that. So I'll have to

[9:19] see the other movie that's opening this

[9:21] weekend. The Happy Feet movie.

[9:24] The animated movie about the singing and

[9:26] dancing penguins. I like that people.

[9:28] Yes, the kids LOVE PENGUINS.

[9:32] EVERYBODY LOVES PENGUINS. PENGUINS.

[9:34] Penguins look like either waiters or

[9:36] nuns.

[9:38] So that that's great. They they make you

[9:40] feel either hungry or horny. So that's

[9:43] what WHAT

[9:46] LIKE I'M the only one that gets turned

[9:47] on by waiters. WHAT?

[9:53] These are the Happy Feet movie. I'm

[9:55] going to go see. There's a new happy,

[9:56] you know, animated movie every week. I

[9:58] mean, it used to like Toy Story come out

[9:59] and then bam bam bam. But and all of

[10:01] them make a lot of money except for that

[10:03] one a couple of weeks ago, Flushed Away.

[10:05] Do you know See, you never even heard of

[10:07] the damn thing. flushed away. It was an

[10:10] animated movie set in a in a toilet.

[10:14] Who I mean, who wants to go see a movie

[10:16] SET IN A TOILET? AFTER, you know, after

[10:19] I'm done in the toilet, I look, but not

[10:20] for 90 minutes. Just, you know, it's a

[10:23] quick check. Okay, I'm good.

[10:28] Okay, I'm fine. Yeah. All right.

[10:33] Do you know what I like? These toilets

[10:35] are just like they flush on their own.

[10:38] That that is the greatest thing I have

[10:40] ever seen in my life. You just like you

[10:41] leave and the toilet just flushes.

[10:44] It's like it's great. It's like having

[10:45] your own ghost.

[10:48] The Penguin movie. I'm going to go and

[10:50] see the Penguin movie. Do you know who

[10:51] has real penguins? Actually, this is

[10:53] true. Not on the internet. Actual truth.

[10:55] Uh Wayne Newton. Wayne Newton. Uh I'm

[10:58] meeting with him this weekend and he has

[11:01] uh penguins. He you know you got I don't

[11:03] know what you call a group of penguins,

[11:05] a tribe of penguins. And I know buttload

[11:09] of penguins. I know. Anyway, he's got

[11:11] he's got a huge amount of penguin. He

[11:13] keeps penguins at his ranch. I didn't

[11:15] even know you had a penguin ranch. He's

[11:16] a penguin ranch in the desert. And

[11:19] people get mad at him when he first got

[11:20] the penguins cuz he said they don't like

[11:22] the heat, but they love the heat. They

[11:23] thrive in there's penguins everywhere in

[11:25] Vegas.

[11:28] They are. They're They're breeding like

[11:30] they're like, you know, when people say

[11:31] pigeons are the rats of the air in

[11:33] Vegas, penguins are the pigeons of the

[11:35] ground. Yeah,

[11:38] you see them in the sports BOOK

[11:45] TONIGHT. HEY, STEVE IS HERE. EVERYBODY

[11:49] is here. We'll be right back.

[13:24] nuts

[13:26] about you.

[13:28] >> Kellogg's new caramel nut crunch. Crispy

[14:54] we know it first appeared in what

[14:55] civilization? Egypt, Cree, Greece, or

[14:59] Mesopotamia? Need a hint?

[15:04] Do you think they drink from it, too?

[15:06] >> It was in Greece. Our history has been

[15:09] serving you for over 75 years. So

[15:11] remember, if it's plumbing, we have it.

[15:27] Welcome back. WELCOME. WELCOME BACK, MY

[15:30] FRISKY LITTLE PUPPIES.

[15:33] >> Don't be alarmed. I would never whip a

[15:35] puppy.

[15:38] I gently caress it and smooth its little

[15:40] head, but I would never whip a puppy.

[15:48] I wasn't meant to happen. This is meant

[15:49] to happen.

[15:52] And when that did happen, I went,

[16:01] if we ever rehearse this show, it's

[16:02] screwed. It'll never work.

[16:06] Very busy show tonight. Do we have time

[16:07] for an email? Oh, would I do?

[16:14] Let's see. Um, let's see. Let's see. And

[16:17] this is uh from Katrina in New York.

[16:19] Katarina in New York. It is. Uh, dear

[16:22] Craig, if you had the choice between

[16:24] being James Bond or a dastardly Bond

[16:27] villain like Dr. No, who would you be?

[16:29] Oh, definitely I'd be the villain. I

[16:31] mean, I mean, James Bond, first of all,

[16:32] you have to work out. No, I'm not doing

[16:34] that.

[16:36] Oh, sit ups. Oh, I have to lift weights.

[16:38] WELL, PUT THEM DOWN. OH, THEY'RE HEAVY.

[16:39] PUT THEM DOWN.

[16:41] I don't want to do that. But the

[16:42] villains are much better. You get to be

[16:44] fat and bald with a big false hand and

[16:46] everything. So, MR. BOND. AHA.

[16:50] I LIKE all that. And you get all the

[16:51] kind of Oh, wait, wait, wait.

[16:59] WAIT, WAIT. THAT WASN'T THE VILLAIN.

[17:02] That was the end of the movie. When you

[17:04] go,

[17:06] "No, this is the villain."

[17:11] The thing is about being a vaugh villain

[17:13] though, you have to be kind of like, you

[17:14] know, you have to have your your thing.

[17:16] You have to like have like your hook or

[17:17] your eye patch or something. You know

[17:18] what I'd be? I'd be feather man.

[17:27] DON'T BE ALARMED, MR. BOND. IT'S JUST A

[17:30] DEADLY FEATHER.

[17:36] YES, BOND. You have faced adversaries

[17:39] before, but never as deadly as the

[17:42] feather.

[17:45] Maybe I'll work on that. Now, listen. I

[17:46] tell you what. Um, I'm looking at People

[17:48] magazine sexiest men of the year. You

[17:50] know, looking for my dreamy Orlando,

[17:52] obviously. And

[17:54] I'm very happy to say I've MADE IT AGAIN

[17:57] TWO YEARS IN A ROW. YEAH.

[18:01] FIRST,

[18:05] last year it was, you know, the sexy men

[18:07] of late night. Uh, me and Ron Poil

[18:09] basically.

[18:11] And then look, I made uh all the

[18:13] gayhaired guys in America.

[18:18] There bomb there next to Clinton. Look

[18:19] at that.

[18:22] YEAH.

[18:28] YEAH. I think that's just the pictures

[18:30] of everybody with gray hair who's on

[18:32] television. That's pretty much it. Like

[18:34] if you had gray hair and you weren't in

[18:35] that book, you like, "Hey, what? What's

[18:37] going on?"

[18:39] Anyway, I am uh of course very excited

[18:42] about this new James Bond film's home

[18:43] today. I've mentioned it before. H and

[18:45] now we thought it would be a good time

[18:46] because of this to talk to a real spy

[18:49] from the British intelligence service.

[18:51] So, please welcome live via satellite

[18:53] from a from an undisclosed location.

[18:55] Please welcome the spy, Mr. Fred

[18:57] Willard. Everybody, Fred Willard.

[19:01] Welcome Fred.

[19:04] Thank you.

[19:10] Thank you. Thank you for being here, Mr.

[19:11] Willlet.

[19:12] >> Well, no problem, Craig. Anything for

[19:14] one of my mates from across the pond.

[19:18] >> That's the worst English accent I've

[19:20] ever heard. I You're an American, aren't

[19:22] you?

[19:23] >> Oh, bollocks. Me. Cover's blown.

[19:26] Also, Fred, I I I think I know where

[19:28] your undisclosed location is. Oh, that's

[19:31] disgusting, Ferguson. I didn't come here

[19:33] to talk about my genitals.

[19:34] >> No, no, no. I No. I That's not what I

[19:37] meant. I'm saying I I know you're in

[19:39] Paris. I can see the Eiffel Tower behind

[19:41] you.

[19:41] >> See? Yeah.

[19:42] >> Is that what that is? What an eyesore.

[19:48] >> So So do you really work for British

[19:49] Intelligence?

[19:50] >> Indeed, I'm freelance. I work for

[19:52] everybody. CIA, corporate clients, even

[19:55] the tabloids, the Martha Stewart lesbian

[19:58] orgy photos.

[20:01] That was me.

[20:05] >> I never got to see those.

[20:08] No one did. I kept them for myself.

[20:11] >> Some things are more important than

[20:13] money.

[20:13] >> God bless you. Sorry. I see you're a man

[20:15] of principle, but are you a real spy?

[20:18] >> Yep. Ask me any spy stuff you want.

[20:20] >> All right, then. Um, do spies do well

[20:23] with the ladies?

[20:25] >> Uh, yes, we do. I have a very special

[20:28] technique with women. I offer to pay

[20:30] them a $10,000,

[20:32] and after we're done, I run away.

[20:42] Does that work?

[20:44] >> No, Craig. I'm not a strong runner.

[20:48] >> What? What happens when they catch you

[20:50] and you don't have any money?

[20:51] >> Well, if I cry hard enough, they usually

[20:53] leave me alone.

[20:54] >> Oh, all right. I got to try that. Now,

[20:57] listen. In the Bond films, Q always

[20:59] gives a 007 some gadget, like an

[21:01] exploding pen or something like that. Do

[21:03] do real spies use all that stuff? all

[21:05] the time. Once in Russia, I used a shoe

[21:08] phone. In Germany, I had a watch gun.

[21:11] And in in Malaysia, I had a man lady.

[21:28] >> We still keep in touch.

[22:04] You can feel it.

[22:12] Yeah.

[25:28] WELCOME BACK. WELCOME BACK. WELCOME

[25:30] BACK, MY FRISKY LITTLE PONIES.

[25:44] I think we've run the gamut of emotions

[25:46] there. I think we're done.

[25:49] Uh my first guest tonight is uh I call

[25:51] him the double OG. He's the original

[25:54] original gangster. I call him UOG

[25:55] sometimes and then uh then I might get

[25:58] hurt. Uh, he'll be performing a song

[26:00] later from the CD Gangster Rap, which is

[26:02] in stores now. And he's got a new show

[26:04] on VH1 Rap School. Take a look at this

[26:07] clip.

[26:08] >> Take me to the beginning of the song.

[26:11] >> Straight out OF PREP SCHOOL.

[26:12] >> STRAIGHT OUT OF PREP SCHOOL. STRAIGHT

[26:14] OUT OF PREP SCHOOL.

[26:15] >> STRAIGHT OUT OF RAP SCHOOL.

[26:16] >> OKAY, DONE.

[26:17] >> I definitely felt a little gangster.

[26:20] >> All right, why don't y'all sit, relax?

[26:22] We're going to play back this one.

[26:26] The home big kind of small but I give

[26:29] all my teachers.

[26:29] >> No political figures being rep HERE

[26:31] TONIGHT. I GOT A LOT OF go down without

[26:33] a fight.

[26:34] >> I got friends, family, people that care.

[26:36] My life is in the air.

[26:39] >> City old school.

[26:42] >> Me and my crew, we back each other up.

[26:44] So step back.

[26:49] >> Ice tea everybody.

[27:10] What's up, man? What's happening?

[27:11] >> Hey, how are you?

[27:12] >> Hey, man. Happy to be here. Thanks for

[27:14] having me.

[27:14] >> We're very, very, very happy that you're

[27:16] on the show and I and I'm enjoying the

[27:18] uh the rap school.

[27:20] Why Why are you Why are you doing this?

[27:22] Why are there is there any fun? It

[27:24] definitely ain't for the money.

[27:25] >> No, no, no.

[27:26] >> Definitely. Um

[27:27] >> that's VH1.

[27:28] >> Yeah. Um they had done the show prior

[27:31] with uh Jean Simmons. They did a thing

[27:33] called a school of rock.

[27:34] >> Yeah.

[27:35] >> Which I guess was coming off of Jack

[27:36] Black's movie, but um they did that in

[27:38] England and they did that with, you

[27:40] know, uh prep school kids there. When

[27:42] they brought it to the United States,

[27:43] kids said, "Well, we're more interested

[27:44] in hip-hop,

[27:45] >> right?" So what VH1 did was really go

[27:47] out and find the least

[27:49] >> the kids that were the furthest removed

[27:51] from hiphop and said let's see if we can

[27:53] have the last person you would leave

[27:55] alone with your kids teach them. So

[27:58] >> cuz cuz it is I MEAN

[28:00] >> YOU'RE NOT YOU'RE not known for the soft

[28:02] cuddly image. I mean the original

[28:04] original gangster, right? Is that is

[28:05] that right for me to say that?

[28:07] >> Yeah. No G. You call it what you will. I

[28:08] mean my thing was that

[28:09] >> I I say oo

[28:11] >> the oo.

[28:11] >> Yeah. Yeah. The oo. Yeah. That's no good

[28:14] is it?

[28:14] >> No. That ain't good.

[28:14] >> All right. Okay. So, I the OG then. What

[28:16] about the double OG? That's good.

[28:18] >> Yeah. So, so what happens is um they

[28:21] asked me I was doing um I was hosting

[28:23] Hip Hop Honors this year, which was a a

[28:25] tribute show they do for people that had

[28:27] something to do with the creation of the

[28:29] genre. And uh I was honored the year

[28:31] before. So, they asked me to host and I

[28:32] was like, "Sure."

[28:33] >> And then this idea was bouncing around

[28:35] and they asked me where I do it. And

[28:37] first I was like, "Well, this could be

[28:38] real corny." But then I said, you know,

[28:41] why the hell not? You know, I mean, I'll

[28:42] go in and I'll take these kids and I'll

[28:45] if they I knew none of them were ever

[28:46] going to become Jay-Z or anybody like

[28:48] that, but I like they'll do their

[28:50] version and it'll also give me a chance

[28:52] to show people that hip-hop may not be

[28:54] truly what they think it is.

[28:56] >> What is hip-hop? Hip-hop now then? I

[28:58] could hardly say it. Hop hip. Uh the uh

[29:00] what what is it now? Is is it has it

[29:02] changed? I mean, the gangster thing is

[29:04] >> Well, no. Gangster is what is hip-hop is

[29:06] a music that comes from the streets. It

[29:09] was it was born in the South Bronx in

[29:11] New York, right? And it's basically

[29:12] expressing yourself over music, uh,

[29:15] using the beat and rhyme. Now, you can

[29:17] express yourself any kind of way. You

[29:19] can do party rhyming. I came from Los

[29:21] Angeles. I was involved with the gang

[29:23] scene, so I rap from there. But you see,

[29:25] when I started dealing with these kids,

[29:26] I said, "Well, none of y'all come from

[29:28] my background. So, nobody in here is a

[29:30] gangster rapper. You're going to have to

[29:31] rap about your life and the experiences

[29:34] you go through." See, that that seems to

[29:35] me like a sensible and realistic way to

[29:37] go about it because you you do get a lot

[29:39] of rappers now, especially the young

[29:40] white kids out of the suburbs who are

[29:42] rapping about, you know, oh, their

[29:43] homies and their gang stuff and you're

[29:44] like, well, I I don't really think that

[29:46] happens at, you know, in your life, you

[29:48] know, when you're delivering papers in

[29:50] that mean the mean streets of the

[29:52] suburbs.

[29:52] >> You don't get that far with it.

[29:54] >> Yeah.

[29:54] >> You don't get that far with it. I mean,

[29:55] the trick to hip hop is you have to keep

[29:57] it real. You have to be true. I mean,

[29:59] Eminem came out, but he more or less

[30:01] wrapped about living in a trailer park.

[30:02] It seemed quite honest what he was

[30:04] talking about, wasn't it?

[30:05] >> That's that's that's the key to hip-hop.

[30:06] And if you're caught out there and if

[30:08] somebody can can challenge you and say,

[30:09] "Hey, you fake." Then the music doesn't

[30:11] stand unless you're just doing basically

[30:13] pop music where you're just singing

[30:15] party and dance and whatever.

[30:16] >> And and what's what's gangster in that?

[30:18] Does gangster still exist? Is the word

[30:20] changed?

[30:20] >> Well, no. Gangster gangster rap is

[30:22] really the rap that has stood the test

[30:24] of time. I mean, when we started it back

[30:26] in the day, then NWA came, that

[30:28] transcended to Tupac, Biggie Smalls,

[30:30] that transcended to Jay-Z, Little Kim,

[30:33] Foxy Brown, 50 Cent, who right now is

[30:35] the one of the hottest rappers.

[30:37] >> Is that is that who you like right now?

[30:38] 50 Cent.

[30:39] >> 50 Cent's number one right now. And then

[30:41] you got The Game coming out of LA. I

[30:43] think what makes it stand the test is it

[30:46] is about life

[30:48] >> and it's about what people are going

[30:50] through versus let's just go out and

[30:51] have a party. And don't you play heavy

[30:53] heavy metal music as well, isn't it?

[30:55] >> Yeah, I got a I got a rock band called

[30:56] Body Count, right?

[30:58] >> Uh which did the the infamous track Cop

[31:00] Killer

[31:01] >> and um you know, I basically said I love

[31:04] metal. I've always been into rock and

[31:06] roll. And I said, what if I took my

[31:08] lyrics and my ideology, the way I see

[31:10] life,

[31:11] >> and put that into metal?

[31:14] >> Don't you think this is ironic that uh

[31:15] that you play a cop on TV?

[31:19] I don't have really any problems playing

[31:21] anybody as far as uh acting because when

[31:23] I first got my first role as an actor, I

[31:26] played a cop in the movie New Jack City.

[31:28] >> Did you go in any ride alongs with the

[31:30] real cops to find out what a police car

[31:31] was?

[31:31] >> I used to do ride alongs with the cop.

[31:35] That's what I thought. That's

[31:37] >> from the from the back.

[31:38] >> Yeah. Yeah. No, I understand. Yeah.

[31:40] Yeah. I understand. We got to take a

[31:42] break. We'll be right back. We'll be

[31:43] right back with a performance by Ice

[32:31] >> Do you think you're sponge worthy? You

[32:33] sideburns?
