[14:46] brother and so Nehemiah chapter 4 this

[14:48] morning if you're able to would you

[14:49] please stand and honor the word of

[14:51] God Nehemiah chapter number four we're

[14:54] going to read the first 10

[14:56] verses of Nehemiah chapter number four

[15:02] but it came to pass that when sand

[15:04] ballot heard that we builded the wall he

[15:06] was wroth and took great indignation and

[15:09] mocked the Jews and he spake before his

[15:15] said what do these feeble Jews will they

[16:33] prayer unto our God set a watch against

[16:36] them day and night because of them and

[16:40] Judah said the strength of the bearers

[16:43] of the burden is decayed and there is

[16:47] much rubbish so that we are not able to

[16:51] build the

[16:54] wall looking forward to this morning on

[16:56] preaching again on building and battling

[17:32] about Nehemiah chapter 4 and he says it

[17:36] this way as long as the people in

[17:39] Jerusalem were content with their sad

[17:43] lot the enemy left them

[17:46] alone but when the Jews began to serve

[17:50] the Lord and bring glory to God's name

[17:54] the enemy became active

[17:59] I want to remind you about something

[18:01] else San ballot

[18:07] others are not the

[18:12] enemy they're not the

[18:15] enemy they're being used by the enemy

[18:45] this world against spiritual wickedness

[18:48] places so when we think that we have an

[18:52] enemy we must remember what the word of

[18:55] God says about people we think that

[18:57] about and Matthew chap 5: 44 it tells us

[19:02] to love them and to pray for

[19:06] them so the true enemy was

[19:10] Satan so just to make

[19:13] clear sen balot tobah gam the others

[19:18] were being affected by the

[19:21] enemy but the people were not the enemy

[19:25] why because there's always hope that

[20:20] devil ridicule is the language of the

[20:25] devil they begin by ridiculing

[22:22] distract God's people from doing what

[22:25] God's called them to do he loves to use

[22:28] use in his toolbox of tools is

[22:32] ridicule he goes on and we see that in

[22:35] verse number six in verse number

[22:39] five four five and six nehemiah's

[22:44] response nehemiah's response we talked

[22:46] about it last week he

[22:48] prayed he prayed and when you face

[22:51] ridicule and I face ridicule we ought to

[22:55] pray and he said and acted that acted so

[22:59] they look at verse six so built we the

[23:03] wall they took

[23:07] action not only did he say that verse

[23:09] six so built with the wall and all the

[23:11] wall was joined together into the half

[23:13] thereof for the people had a mind to

[23:17] work now I want you to notice something

[23:19] about Nehemiah here in chapter four this

[23:21] is the third time that he's

[23:24] prayed third time in chapter one Verses

[23:28] 4 through 11 he prays in chapter two

[23:33] verse number four he prays you can't

[23:37] wait till the ridicule comes before you

[23:41] start developing a habit of prayer you

[23:44] have to always be in the habit of prayer

[23:47] and praying and so nehemiah's prayed

[23:51] before he's prayed in chapter 1 he

[23:53] prayed in Chapter 2 and now he's praying

[23:57] in chapter number four

[24:00] by the way if you read the book of

[24:02] Nehemiah it's not the last time he's

[24:04] going to

[24:05] pray he's got a relationship with God

[24:08] that he's going to pray so we dealt with

[24:11] that in Nehemiah chapter 4 the ridicule

[24:15] and then in verse seven look in your

[24:17] Bibles verse number seven but it came to

[24:19] pass that when s balad and tobah and the

[24:21] Arabians and the ammonites and the

[24:24] asites heard the walls of Jerusalem were

[25:05] lives they are fearful of the

[25:07] retaliation now they've got a right to

[25:10] fearful because all around them the

[25:13] north the South the East and the West

[25:16] guess what's all around them all these

[25:18] groups Samaria the ashit as the

[25:21] Philistine City all of those

[25:24] places have surrounded them so there are

[25:27] soldiers there's armies all around

[25:31] them but

[25:34] God but God he he's part of the

[25:37] storyline it's not just the enemies that

[25:40] they thought were around

[25:42] them as I was reading this week I heard

[25:44] a quote that

[25:46] Satan is the

[25:48] Sinister

[25:50] minister of

[25:52] fear Satan is the

[25:55] Sinister minister of fear

[26:00] second Timothy 1:7 For God not given us

[26:01] the spirit of fear but of power and of

[26:03] love and of a sound mind but Satan he's

[26:07] the minister of fear and when fear comes

[26:09] into your life remember this don't take

[26:14] counsel from your

[26:17] fears don't take counsel from your

[26:23] fears then we got to verse 10 and verse

[26:25] 11 and the discouragement

[26:29] came we talked about last week the the

[26:32] struggle from without and the struggle

[26:34] fromin now discouragement came look at

[26:36] verse 10 and Judah said now we didn't

[26:39] talk about it last week but I want to

[26:41] point it out Judah anybody remember

[26:44] anybody from Judah in the Old

[26:46] Testament I don't know maybe like a king

[26:52] Judah

[26:58] and had no fear because of who God

[27:03] is and didn't get discouraged because of

[27:07] said but here that same tribe that royal

[27:11] family line that's come down many a king

[27:15] Judah that line

[27:19] says verse number 10 the strength of the

[27:22] bearers of the burden is

[27:26] decayed it's decayed and there is much

[27:30] rubbish so that we are not able to build

[27:33] the walls so the discouragement

[27:36] came fatigue it happens when you're

[27:39] building and battling you're going to

[27:41] get

[27:42] fatigued it's going to

[27:44] happen and also

[27:47] frustration there was a lot of work

[27:49] still to do the work was a great work it

[27:51] was a large work there's

[27:55] frustration so we've got ridicu F

[27:59] distraction intimidation danger

[28:02] discouragement and in under the

[28:03] discouragement they face fatigue and

[28:07] frustration so now we're getting to

[28:09] nehemiah's

[28:41] upon you so in verse 13 we see

[28:50] behind the wall and on the higher places

[28:53] I even set people after their families

[28:56] with their swords their Spears and their

[28:59] bows audience participation

[30:41] happening to the people outside the

[31:02] weaponized we got two weapons the word

[32:04] them now we are brothers and sisters in

[32:10] Christ ought to be concerned about

[32:11] Brothers and Sisters in

[32:15] Christ and so he put Swordsmen in the

[32:18] lower places and the higher places and

[32:21] he had them on the

[32:24] wall and all the enemies outside

[32:28] that were being affected by the true

[32:30] enemy saw The Swordsman on the

[32:33] wall other parts of the wall they had

[32:36] Spears other parts of the wall they had

[32:39] harbingers they were in defense

[32:42] mode they were watching

[32:44] over cuz watch this when when you get

[32:51] building you may not get to

[32:53] see all out

[33:01] weaponized and they're

[33:05] watching now we also have a heavenly

[33:11] us whose weapons are greater than

[33:15] anything the world has to offer you

[33:17] getting tired of holding that sword lift

[33:33] overlooking but he didn't stop there he

[33:36] didn't stop with just putting Swordsmen

[33:39] out because if all you got are

[33:51] 14 verse 13 therefore set I in the lower

[33:55] places behind the wall and on the higher

[33:56] places I even set people after their

[33:58] families with their swords their Spears

[34:01] and their bow and I looked and Rose up

[34:03] and said unto the Nobles and the rulers

[34:04] and to the rest of the people be not ye

[34:09] afraid of

[34:12] them not because of the

[34:14] swordsman not because of the

[34:17] weapons

[34:23] remember the Lord so he encourages them

[34:26] and says I've put people on the

[34:29] wall I've armed them and they're

[34:32] invested in you because they're part of

[34:34] your family and if we look at chapter

[34:37] three they're building the section of

[34:38] the wall around where their family lived

[34:41] so nehemiah's put them working on the

[34:43] wall by their family with their family

[34:45] at their back and he's focused on that

[34:47] because he wants them to come to the

[34:50] understanding you got to remember the

[34:52] Lord got to remember the

[34:55] Lord know in our lives when we we Face

[34:59] battling we got to remember the Lord all

[38:17] remember this ridicule the distraction

[38:20] the intimidation the danger the

[38:23] discouragement Satan wanted to use these

[38:28] As Weapons to destroy the

[38:33] work but God used them as tools to build

[39:18] years of ministry

[39:20] now Satan's tactics don't really

[39:24] change they're pretty much the same

[39:28] you can go all the way back to the Book

[39:30] of Genesis and all the way through the

[39:31] New Testament and his tactics haven't

[39:35] changed but what happens is is that

[39:38] people respond to his devices because

[39:41] we're not paying

[39:42] attention 2 Corinthians 11 2:11 lest

[39:45] Satan should get an advantage of us for

[39:48] we are not ignorant of his

[39:54] devices don't be

[39:56] ignorant how

[39:59] works so we talked about last week we

[40:02] are building and we are

[40:05] battling and the building and the

[40:09] battling for us doesn't look like a

[40:11] brick trial and a

[40:12] sword but you put them together and it

[40:16] represents the word of

[40:19] God because the word of God is what we

[40:21] build with and the word of God is what

[40:23] we battle with one writer said it this

[40:27] way about about Nehemiah 4 building and

[40:29] battling it's combat with sin and labor

[40:33] for the lord it's combat with sin and

[40:36] labor for the

[40:39] Lord now we're going to see in chapter

[40:41] five another tactic that Satan

[40:47] uses but we find the

[40:50] people

[40:52] succeeding through

[40:55] prayer through work

[41:00] through weaponizing themselves for

[41:04] attack if attack

[41:06] came so they had

[41:08] success in

[41:11] building and

[41:13] battling we'll see later on they build

[41:15] the whole all the walls get rebuilt in

[41:17] 52 days that's a pretty good building

[41:22] project this building here this main

[41:24] building was built in 1980 it didn't get

[41:26] done in 52

[41:28] days it took a lot longer to

[41:32] do so how do you get success in building

[41:37] and battling well there's three

[41:38] principles found in Nehemiah

[41:40] 4 well first one's found in verse

[41:43] six the

[41:45] people had a mind to

[41:50] work if you're going to build your

[41:52] family's life your life the work of

[41:55] Ministry of God you're going to have

[41:57] have to build you're going to have to

[41:59] have a mind to

[42:01] work you're going to have to have a mind

[42:03] to get into the word you're going to

[42:05] have to have a mindset that I need to be

[42:08] building my life upon the word of God

[42:11] not upon my feelings not upon my

[42:12] thinking but upon the word of God which

[42:16] is pure which is steadfast which is

[42:19] unmovable which is inspired by God which

[42:21] has been preserved for us we have to

[42:24] have a mind to work

[42:28] but verse

[42:29] n Nehemiah 4 you'll find they had a

[42:33] heart to

[42:36] pray a heart to pray to have success and

[42:42] building and battling the way God

[42:44] intends for us to do in this Christian

[42:46] Life you have to have a heart to

[42:50] pray how's your prayer

[42:53] life is your prayer life on life support

[42:58] or is your prayer life

[43:00] invigorating this morning we had

[43:02] opportunity with the bus crew we printed

[43:05] out the all the riders that ride their

[43:08] buses we broke off into groups and we

[43:10] prayed for every Rider that rode today

[43:12] by name took time praying for them by

[43:15] name gave them five things to pray for

[43:18] them today then I encouraged every

[43:20] worker to take it home and all week long

[43:22] to pray for every

[43:23] Rider every day

[43:28] why is that important because we're

[43:30] doing spiritual

[43:31] warfare we are building and we are

[43:34] battling and building and battling one

[43:37] of the great weapons that we have is

[43:40] prayer and so we have to have a heart to

[43:44] pray a heart to

[43:47] pray Nehemiah chapter 4 verse number 20

[43:50] turn there if you would you're not there

[43:53] already Nehemiah chapter 4

[44:00] 20 in what place therefore ye hear the

[44:03] sound of the trumpet Resort ye thither

[44:06] unto us our God shall fight for us go

[44:11] back to verse 19 and I said unto the

[44:14] Nobles and to the rulers and to the rest

[44:15] of the people the work is great and

[44:18] large and we are separated upon the wall

[44:21] one far from another in what places

[44:23] therefore ye hear the sound of the

[44:24] trumpet Resort ye thither unto us Our

[44:27] God shall fight for

[44:29] us know what that

[44:32] means not only did they have people on

[44:35] the lower part of the wall with a weapon

[44:37] on the higher part of the wall with a

[44:38] weapon the people building The Wall the

[44:40] people building The Wall had a brick

[44:42] trout and they had the sword in their

[44:44] head but they also had somebody with a

[44:48] trumpet and if reinforcements were

[44:51] needed the battlecry went out and they

[44:54] came a running

[44:58] do you know what that

[45:00] means when they were building and

[45:02] battling when they were watching and

[45:05] holding on to their

[45:07] weapon they had an

[45:09] ear to

[45:11] hear they had an ear to

[45:16] hear if you if we want to have success

[45:18] in 2025 and doing what God's called us

[45:20] to do and building and battling and

[45:22] rising up and building and building

[45:24] families and building culture and

[45:25] building lives and building

[45:27] relationships and doing all the work

[45:29] that God wants us to do we have to have

[45:31] a people that have a mind to work we

[45:32] have to have a heart to pray and we have

[45:34] to have an ear to hear we got to listen

[45:37] to the God you know what is encouraging

[45:40] about Nehemiah for they're listening for

[45:42] a

[45:43] trumpet I don't know about you but we

[45:46] might get to hear a trumpet

[45:49] soon and the Lord may say come

[45:52] up and we'll be absent from the body

[45:55] here on Earth and present with the Lord

[45:58] get raptured out of

[46:00] here we could be gone for the service

[46:04] ends are you ready you ready to meet the

[46:10] Lord 1 Corinthians 1558 tells us we are

[46:14] more than

[46:18] conquerors first Corin let's go

[46:21] there and then I'm going to give you a

[46:23] few last things and we'll be done today

[47:01] battling

[47:03] some may have defensive

[47:06] positions against the

[47:09] enemy some may have defensive positions

[47:14] against the

[47:15] enemy how does that play out today some

[47:18] in the church they may not be on the

[47:23] wall building and battling

[47:27] but they're

[47:28] watching and

[47:33] praying

[47:34] watching and

[47:36] praying defensive

[47:38] positions watching and praying

[47:42] others may be building the

[47:47] wall one of the interesting

[47:51] things that wall was pretty

[47:54] thick you know what that means

[47:58] some people put the bricks on the stones

[48:00] on the inside the wall and some were

[48:03] outside the

[48:05] wall and because they were outside the

[48:07] wall putting the bricks on guess what

[48:10] they had their back turned to the

[48:16] threat but you know what they had they

[48:20] had a wall of prayer surrounding

[48:25] them so you may be building the

[48:28] wall you may be in the thick of

[48:31] it but there's somebody praying for

[48:35] you I enjoy it when people send me a

[48:39] message or they tell me in a service

[48:41] preacher I'm praying for you some of you

[48:43] I know that's a regular practice for you

[48:45] and I appreciate it so much as your

[48:46] pastor it helps me every day I couldn't

[48:50] do what God's called me to do if there

[48:51] weren't people praying for

[48:54] me so some may be in defensive positions

[48:57] others may be building the wall and they

[48:59] could be inside the wall or outside the

[49:00] wall building the wall but they need

[49:03] other people that are on the defensive

[49:04] position praying for

[49:06] them not only that Nehemiah created a

[49:09] second

[49:10] shift so for those of you that work

[49:14] second and third

[49:15] shift sorry they may have got the idea

[49:17] from Nehemiah you can blame him

[49:20] later but Nehemiah created a second

[49:23] shift it's found in Nehemiah chapter

[49:25] 4 that he had some when they slept

[49:28] others stood guard and

[49:32] worked others may

[49:35] work while others

[49:41] rest others may work while others rest

[49:46] one of the sad things in church

[49:49] statistics is that 90% of the work in

[49:52] the church is done by 10% of the

[49:54] people let's be a statistic breaker this

[49:58] year

[50:03] amen but others may work while others

[50:09] rest the people involved in the work of

[50:12] the

[50:14] ministry I look out across this morning

[50:18] and there are some people who used to be

[50:21] Sunday school

[50:23] teachers but life has transition them

[50:28] into not able to do what they used to

[50:33] do you know what God

[50:36] does he brings up the next

[50:39] group to be Sunday school

[50:44] teachers but if the Lord

[50:48] terries there's going to need to be a

[50:50] next

[50:52] group Lord terries and the Rapture

[50:54] doesn't happen there's going to need to

[50:56] be a next

[50:58] group if the Lord blesses the church and

[51:02] we grow in attendance and we need more

[51:04] teachers guess what you gonna have to

[51:06] get

[51:09] them and God's growing

[51:12] them right here in our

[51:16] congregation so some may have defensive

[51:18] positions others may be building the

[51:20] wall others may work while others rest

[51:23] but all were involved in the

[51:28] work

[51:30] building is the

[51:32] trial battling is a

[51:37] sword Our Lives we need to be able to

[51:40] handle

[51:42] both

[51:43] building and

[51:46] battling we have some desires this

[51:48] year to impact more people for the cause

[51:53] of

[51:54] Christ how know you want to see more

[51:56] people save this year say

[51:58] Amen we see lives

[52:02] changed see fam

[52:05] stronger

[52:07] see people praying

[52:11] more all that

[52:13] work of God's work is done by God's

[52:21] people it's done by God's people

[52:23] everyone everyone on the wall everyone

[52:27] doing the

[52:28] work it's done by God's

[52:32] people in order to do what God wants us

[52:35] to do we got to know how to handle the

[52:37] building part of the word of

[52:39] God and also the battling part of the

[52:43] word of God when we battle our enemy

[52:46] capital E enemy

[52:49] Satan that's the

[52:51] enemy Ephesians

[52:53] 6 chapter 12 we wrestle

[52:58] not against flesh and

[53:01] blood but against principalities against

[53:05] Powers against the rulers of Darkness of

[53:07] the world against spiritual wickedness

[53:09] in high

[53:12] places people are not our

[53:15] enemy The Devil

[53:18] is but

[53:20] unfortunately the devil attacks people

[53:33] too

[53:35] often there

[53:38] are

[53:40] casualties to Satan's

[53:43] attack and we don't want

[53:46] that we don't want that so we ought to

[53:50] pray we ought to

[53:53] love and we ought to read the word of

[53:55] God we we got to grow in our

[53:57] relationship with

[53:59] God building and

[54:04] battling for your

[54:06] family for your sons for your

[54:10] daughters

[54:12] Nehemiah reminded them of what their

[54:17] mission

[54:22] was if you have children who are unsaved

[54:27] you ought to be

[54:29] praying they'll get saved and you ought

[54:31] to expose them to the gospel as much as

[54:35] you

[54:37] can so the Holy Spirit can draw them to

[54:41] the moment of

[54:46] Salvation you ought to pray for one

[54:52] another

[54:54] Nehemiah wasn't until they started the

[54:59] work that the enemy ramped up San ballot

[55:04] toaya and guess from the

[55:06] Arabians when God's doing a work

[55:10] opposition will

[55:15] arise it's

[55:18] amazing the Arabians the ashes the

[55:24] Samaritans normally didn't get along

[55:29] but they United

[55:31] together to come against the work that

[55:33] God was doing in Jerusalem under the

[55:36] leadership of

[55:37] Nehemiah the world's really good at

[55:40] uniting to attack God's

[55:45] work so let's stay

[55:53] battle against the enemy the devil

[56:36] difficult sometimes God's growing people

[56:49] unpleasant sometimes it's heavy

[56:56] think of phone calls and got late last

[57:00] night and early this

[57:02] morning trying to encourage people as

[57:06] God's in

[57:08] control even though right now the world

[57:10] seems Out of

[57:15] Control building and

[57:19] battling it's what God's called us to

[57:21] it's the

[57:24] work next week we'll look in chapter

[57:35] selfishness that they had to

[57:38] face tonight we're going to be in

[57:44] 2 we see people

[57:47] that loved God at a heart for

[57:51] God and then Jeremiah tells him what

[57:54] happened

[57:56] and he said how did you get to where

[57:59] you're at so come back tonight and we'll

[58:06] a mind to work do you have a heart to

[58:08] pray do you have an ear to hear what God

[58:27] lives is hard and

[58:32] difficult sometimes it's

[58:34] challenging but to God be the

[58:37] glory great things he has done he will

[58:42] do and he is doing heavenly father I

[61:28] having emergency gallbladder surgery

[61:30] today so be in prayer for emberlin but

[61:33] also pray for her mom Aaron who's with

[61:35] her and with the new baby brenley at the

[61:37] same time so be in prayer for emberlin

[61:39] lighting as she's having emergency

[61:41] gallbladder surgery today and pray for

[61:43] Miss Robbie early in the morning she's

[61:45] got her surgery scheduled so pray for

[61:47] her she's got to be up at the hospital I

[61:49] think at 5:30 and surgeries at 7:30 in

[61:51] the morning so pray for that and then

[61:54] just a lot of other folks needing pray

[61:56] right now and continue to pray for them

[61:59] and you know I say it often the devil

[62:01] fights the hardest when he fears the

[62:03] most and he doesn't like what God's

[62:06] doing and so let's uh let's be in prayer

[62:11] glory and let's not let Satan use us in

[62:15] any way to hurt someone or distract

[62:19] someone from what God wants to do in
