[0:01] [music] The number one rules about
[0:03] giving money to politicians. MCI and
[0:06] Sprint. It's an enormous acquisition in
[0:08] the phone business. What does it tell us
[0:11] about the future? The ultimate dream of
[0:13] an unhappy sports [music] fan. If the
[0:16] big star won't do his job, take him to
[0:18] court. And we're going to take a closer
[0:21] look at what effect a quarter of a
[0:22] million nurses have had on American
[0:25] health advice.

[0:33] >> From ABC News World Headquarters in
[0:36] [music] New York, this is World News
[0:39] Tonight with Peter Jennings.

[1:10] ABC's Linda Douglas.
[1:12] >> Early this morning, some of Washington's
[1:14] top healthc care lobbyists hurrying to
[1:16] an exclusive private breakfast near
[1:18] Capitol Hill. Price of admission, a
[1:21] $1,000 donation to the campaign fund of
[1:23] House Speaker Dennis Hastard. Hastard
[1:25] himself here slipping in the back way.
[1:28] His discomfort was understandable. The
[1:31] fundraiser was being held just a day
[1:32] before the House takes up HMO reform, an
[1:35] issue in
