[20:22] know what's going to be happening over

[20:24] the next two weeks starting the first

[20:26] part of May our service schedule we gave

[20:29] it out to you to let you know about it

[20:31] if the city of El Reno does whether

[20:33] they're talking about doing this next

[20:35] week and opening up for church services

[20:37] to meet again we're gonna do Sunday

[20:41] night and Wednesday night in person

[20:43] services we've got the auditorium set up

[20:46] so you'll be socially distance apart

[20:48] they'll be room for you there and so

[20:50] we're have that all set up for you so

[20:52] Sunday nights and Wednesday nights for

[20:55] those that feel able and those that feel

[20:56] comfortable we've got the auditorium

[20:58] ready for you Sunday mornings we're

[21:00] gonna continue the next two weeks for

[21:02] sure to do a drive-in service for some

[21:06] of those that are elderly or at-risk or

[21:08] those that have compromised immune

[21:10] systems I still want to give you the

[21:12] opportunity to come to worship the Lord

[21:14] on Sunday and so we're gonna do the

[21:16] driving services the next two Sundays on

[21:19] Sunday morning for sure and then we'll

[21:20] evaluate after that so the next two

[21:23] weeks

[21:23] Sunday morning driving services and then

[21:26] we'll also be live-streaming

[21:28] all of our services Sunday morning

[21:30] Sunday night and Wednesday night having

[21:32] in-person services Sunday night and

[21:34] Wednesday night starting the first

[21:35] Sunday in May and so if you're able to

[21:38] come and worship with us we'll be glad

[21:39] but if you're concerned because of

[21:43] health reasons or if you're concerned

[21:45] because you're at risk it will be okay

[21:48] alright for you to just watch it on the

[30:53] number 34 this week last week we were in

[30:56] chapter 33 this week we're in Chapter

[30:59] number 34 of second chronicles thank you

[31:04] excited to see well the Lord wants to do

[31:07] in our services today

[31:09] second chronicles 34 got to begin

[31:12] reading in verse number one the Bible

[31:14] says Josiah was eight years old when he

[31:17] began to reign and he reigned in

[31:20] Jerusalem 1 in 30 years and he did that

[31:23] which was right in the out in the sight

[31:26] of the Lord and walked in the ways of

[31:28] David his father and declined neither to

[31:30] the right hand nor to the left for in

[31:33] the eighth year of his reign while he

[31:35] was yet young he began to seek after the

[31:38] God of David his father and in the 12th

[31:41] year he began to purge Judah and

[31:43] Jerusalem from the high places and the

[31:46] groves the carved images and the molten

[31:49] images they break down the altars of

[31:51] Balaam in his presence and the images

[31:54] that run high above them he cut down and

[31:57] the groves and the carved images and the

[31:59] molten images he break into pieces and

[32:01] may dust of them and it started upon the

[32:04] graves of them that had sacrificed unto

[32:06] them and he burnt the bones of the

[32:08] priests upon the air altars cleanse

[32:10] Judah and Jerusalem and so he did in the

[32:13] cities of Manasseh and Ephraim and

[32:15] Simeon even under NAFTA lie with their

[32:17] Maddox roundabout and when he had broken

[32:20] down the altars and groves and had

[32:21] beaten the graven images into powder

[32:23] cut down all the idols throughout the

[32:25] land of Israel he returned to Jerusalem

[32:28] this morning we passed out sermon notes

[32:31] for kids and a coloring page for kids so

[32:34] I hope all the boys and girls are

[32:36] working on their coloring page those

[32:39] that are younger it's about King Josiah

[32:42] that's the little boy king sitting on

[32:44] the throne there in your picture and so

[32:46] those of you that are taking notes

[32:48] follow along with us and we'll learn

[32:50] some exciting

[32:51] today about the life of Josiah let's go

[32:54] to the Lord in prayer this morning

[32:56] Heavenly Father lord I thank you for the

[32:58] opportunity to preach your word today

[33:00] would I pray that if you would please

[33:02] cleanse me of sin you dim to me yourself

[33:05] that I may get out of the way this

[33:07] morning and your word may go forth would

[33:11] I pray that you'd speak to our hearts

[33:12] challenge us from your word today may

[33:15] everything that's said and done truly

[33:17] bring honor and glory to you in your

[33:21] name I pray amen when you look about

[33:24] Josiah you think about last week

[33:27] Manasseh

[33:28] that's his grandfather and Manasseh the

[33:30] grandfather we know he did much evil in

[33:32] the eyes of the Lord so much so that he

[33:35] was the second most wicked his King in

[33:37] all the land and Manasseh he did a lot

[33:40] of evil things when we talked about it

[33:42] last week some of evil things that he

[33:44] did in Chapter number 33 and we talked

[33:46] about the need for America to come back

[33:49] to God and to come back to worshiping

[33:51] God and have that pivotal moment in

[33:53] their life like Manasseh hen but we find

[33:56] here that Josiah what he does is he

[33:58] becomes king at eight years old because

[34:01] his father did so much evil that his

[34:05] servants killed him the people who

[34:08] worked for him said he did so much evil

[34:10] that they killed him and so at eight

[34:13] years old Josiah becomes King we find in

[34:16] just a few verses after that the

[34:18] description of Josiah that when he was

[34:21] young he sought the Lord from the age of

[34:24] eight to the age of sixteen

[34:26] something happened in josiah's life that

[34:29] helped him to make godly decisions now I

[34:31] want you to notice this morning that it

[34:34] doesn't say that Josiah came from a

[34:36] godly holding them at godly decisions

[34:38] see I want to remind you of something

[34:40] very important where you grow up does

[34:44] not determine how godly you can be where

[34:49] you grow up does not determine how godly

[34:53] you can be see your past does not

[34:57] determine your future relationship with

[35:00] Jesus Christ what you've done in the

[35:02] past does not determine

[35:05] how godly you can be today and how godly

[35:07] you can be in the future your home life

[35:10] is not a determining factor when it

[35:13] comes to honoring God and worshiping God

[35:16] it says that Josiah sought the Lord he

[35:22] sought the Lord in his life so you and I

[35:24] must come to the realization I cannot

[35:27] blame my environment for how much I love

[35:30] God I cannot blame my environment for

[35:34] how much I seek after God I must make a

[35:37] personal decision to follow God with all

[35:42] my heart

[35:43] you see Josiah he's eight years old when

[35:46] he begins to reign and he does that

[35:48] which is right in the eyes of the Lord

[35:49] even though his father was a wicked man

[35:52] even though his grandfather was a wicked

[35:54] man even though he grew up in a wicked

[35:57] Kingdom now let me describe to you the

[35:59] kingdom that Josiah has been born into

[36:00] he's been born into a kingdom that many

[36:03] of the children have died because

[36:05] they've been offered to the god Molech

[36:06] in burnt sacrifices let me tell you

[36:09] about the land Josiah has grown up in

[36:11] he's grown up in a land where there's

[36:13] false idols inside the temple being

[36:16] worshiped he's grown up in a land where

[36:18] all around him is wickedness and

[36:21] idolatry but yet a young man says I'm

[36:26] gonna follow after God a young man

[36:29] determines in his heart to seek after

[36:31] the Lord

[36:33] Josiah he's eight years old he begins

[36:35] reading look if you would in verse

[36:36] number two and he did that which was

[36:39] right in the sight of the Lord and

[36:41] walked in the ways of David his father

[36:43] and declined neither to the right hand

[36:46] nor to the left then only 16 in the

[36:50] eighth year of his reign while he was

[36:51] yet young he began to seek after the god

[36:55] of David his father and in the twelfth

[36:57] year he began to purge Judah and

[36:59] Jerusalem and then it starts listing off

[37:02] the things that Josiah does in other

[37:05] words this morning your background your

[37:08] environment doesn't determine your

[37:09] godliness but secondly godliness is

[37:13] God's Word in action in your life you

[37:18] can read this book until you've read

[37:20] every single page but if you don't live

[37:23] it out all you did was read a book it

[37:27] hasn't taken root in your life it hasn't

[37:30] affected how you live then my friend I

[37:32] hate to burst your bubble but you're not

[37:34] godly you're a practicing Christian who

[37:38] reads a book if you truly believe the

[37:41] Bible then you ought to live the Bible

[37:44] somebody say Amen that's some good amens

[37:48] there but if you believe it you ought to

[37:51] live it he says if you love me keep my

[37:55] Commandments and so the Bible tells us

[37:58] that Josiah began to seek the Lord and

[38:01] in his process of seeking the Lord it

[38:03] affected his behavior it affected his

[38:06] actions can I ask you this morning is

[38:09] the word of God affecting how you live

[38:12] does the word of God affect how you live

[38:15] or are you okay to live however you want

[38:20] to live and you don't consult the Word

[38:23] of God when it comes to living I

[38:25] preached a devotion earlier this week

[38:27] and I entitled it do you know where it

[38:31] is we asked the question and Jesus was

[38:34] tempted by Satan his response was it is

[38:39] written and then I asked the question in

[38:42] the word of encouragement do you know

[38:44] where it's written and I gave out a

[38:47] reward actually I should say I will be

[38:51] giving out rewards tonight to those that

[38:54] got it right but we were limited in our

[38:59] responses I was hoping for more people

[39:03] to do the research to find out where it

[39:08] was written because if we determine

[39:11] where things are written in the Word of

[39:13] God psalm 119:11 says thy word have I

[39:16] hid in my heart that I might not sin

[39:18] against thee when we put the word in it

[39:21] affects how we live it affects how we

[39:24] act it affects how we think and watch

[39:27] this Josiah is young and he sought after

[39:30] God you

[39:31] use excuse young people I'm too young

[39:34] that doesn't work also those of us that

[39:39] have been blessed with years and were

[39:41] past the 5060 mark you can't say I'm too

[39:45] old to do that you can't say that

[39:49] because any person who is willing to put

[39:54] the word of God in their life can be

[39:57] affected by the Word of God anybody

[40:00] who's willing to do the work when we

[40:02] find Josiah is affected by what he saw

[40:05] and then his actions brought about some

[40:08] exciting things in his ministry as king

[40:11] and from the ages of 16 to 21 he begins

[40:14] to tear down the altars he begins to

[40:17] remove the high places he begins to

[40:19] abolish idolatry he begins to get rid of

[40:22] all those things that were wicked in the

[40:24] eyes of the Lord because a man

[40:27] determined in his heart to live for God

[40:31] now you and I would say wow what a good

[40:35] King what a godly King look at Josiah

[40:39] look at all he's done but if you read

[40:42] the rest of the passage there comes a

[40:45] day when Josiah has having the temple

[40:48] worship restored and they're cleaning up

[40:50] the temple that they found a portion of

[40:53] Scripture and as they found that portion

[40:56] of Scripture they read it to Josiah and

[40:58] Josiah got convicted by the Word of God

[41:01] Josiah got convicted and he responded in

[41:04] a way that he brought about revival to

[41:07] the land he said I heard the message now

[41:11] I want you to hear it and Josiah had the

[41:14] Word of God read to every leader in

[41:16] Jerusalem and then he said not only do I

[41:21] want you to hear it I want you to make a

[41:23] covenant with the Lord that we're gonna

[41:26] obey what the word says so Josiah makes

[41:31] a covenant with the people to obey the

[41:35] voice of the Lord the very next chapter

[41:38] chapter number 35

[41:40] Jiri Institute's the Passover Jiri

[41:43] Institute's godly worship

[41:44] he puts God back in his place watch this

[41:47] now one man decided I'm gonna do what

[41:53] the Word of God says and when he did

[41:55] that it affected him it affected his

[41:59] family it affected his community it

[42:02] affected his nation when godly people

[42:05] decide to live out the Word of God in

[42:09] their life it has an effect on those

[42:12] around them so here we are in 2020

[42:19] momma's and daddies does the Word of God

[42:24] have an effect on your life watch this

[42:27] that your children can see it in you now

[42:33] we know many of you say oh yes preacher

[42:36] oh yes but if I took a microphone to

[42:41] your vehicle this morning and I asked

[42:44] your children what they thought about

[42:47] that question some of you might say

[42:51] preacher don't come near my vehicle I

[42:54] don't want you to ask my kids that

[42:56] question now I'm not trying to be mean

[42:59] I'm trying to get you to think mom and

[43:01] dad our behavior our our actions speak

[43:07] whether we're living by the book or

[43:09] we're just reading the book now some of

[43:13] you you're not momma's and daddies only

[43:17] you're now grandmas and grandpas or

[43:20] Grammys and puppies or mammals and Papas

[43:23] or whatever term they've determined to

[43:25] call you so now you let me ask you this

[43:30] question if I were to ask your

[43:33] grandchildren does Grammy and poppy

[43:36] there's grandma grandpa

[43:38] Gus Mamaw how do they live this book or

[43:43] do they just read this book what would

[43:48] they say I didn't get any honks that

[43:53] must be convicting so yeah let me tell

[43:55] you this morning you cannot blame

[43:58] well I didn't grow up in a Christian

[43:59] home pastor Adam well pastor Adam I've

[44:02] only been saved for a few years you

[44:04] can't say that you can't blame that cuz

[44:06] you're as spiritual as you want to be

[44:09] you read as much scripture as you want

[44:11] to read you'll pray as much as you want

[44:15] to pray you'll sing the songs of God as

[44:17] much as you want to do it I can't make

[44:19] you your spouse can't make you your kids

[44:22] can't make you God's aren't gonna make

[44:25] you you must determine in your own heart

[44:28] and life to seek after God so how much

[44:37] seeking are you doing

[44:39] are you living out the Word of God in

[44:43] your life

[44:45] if not why not do you not have enough

[44:49] time

[44:51] well preacher I've been quarantined as

[44:55] one of our church members said on what

[44:58] word of a curse I've been stuck in the

[44:59] house with my will fill in the blank

[45:02] there maybe you say well preacher I

[45:05] haven't had enough time preacher I

[45:10] haven't been able to squeeze it into my

[45:12] busy schedule I want you to stop for

[45:17] just a moment and think if you got to

[45:21] squeeze God into your schedule I wonder

[45:25] if we would let God squeeze us into his

[45:31] or would you rather him have 24/7 access

[45:37] to you and your life and to hear your

[45:41] prayers when you pray and to respond in

[45:44] such a way when you need him to be a

[45:46] comfort hey some of you right now you're

[45:49] you're battling fear you're battling

[45:52] struggles you're overcome with anxiety

[45:55] and right now would not be a time that

[45:58] God would say well my office is

[46:01] currently closed so I'll get back to you

[46:04] after the quarantine has ended

[46:09] I'm so thankful God doesn't say well

[46:11] because of covet 19 my office hours are

[46:16] now limited he's not limited Jeremiah

[46:21] 33:3 says : to me and I will answer thee

[46:24] and show thee great and mighty things

[46:26] which thou knowest not he didn't say

[46:29] call unto me between nine and five and

[46:31] I'll answer thee call unto me between

[46:33] this hour and this hour no he said

[46:36] anytime of any day you can call unto Him

[46:39] and he will hear you and he will answer

[46:42] you

[46:44] but this morning if I were to ask you do

[46:49] you live that way or do you just read

[46:52] that in here

[46:53] do you really limit out in your life do

[46:57] you really live a way that I can call

[46:58] unto God at any time of any day when I

[47:00] need him and he'll hear me do you live

[47:02] that out in your life the Bible tells us

[47:05] God's not giving us the spirit of fear

[47:07] but of power and of love and of a sound

[47:09] mind but are we living that verse or are

[47:16] we just reading that verse are you

[47:20] listening this morning the Word of God

[47:23] should affect you and how you live and

[47:27] how you act and how you think he gave it

[47:32] to you it's God's words to you he wrote

[47:36] it for you and for me to have a

[47:39] recognization of who he is and how he

[47:43] works in the affairs of men and how he

[47:45] ministers to our life but she can't say

[47:49] preacher I didn't grow up in a godly

[47:50] home therefore I cannot or a preacher I

[47:52] didn't I didn't know my friends you

[47:55] can't determine that the only answer you

[47:58] can give is preacher I chose not to I

[48:04] chose not to let that not be an answer

[48:11] for anyone who attends Bible Baptist

[48:14] Church let us make the decision as

[48:17] Joshua said in Joshua 24 choose you this

[48:21] day whom he will

[48:22] but as for me and my house we will serve

[48:27] the Lord you must make that

[48:34] determination in your own heart I wish I

[48:37] could make it for you I wish I could

[48:39] encourage every single person to wake up

[48:41] in the morning to open up the Word of

[48:43] God

[48:43] and read it every day I wish I could do

[48:46] it for you I wish I could call you every

[48:48] morning at 6 o'clock in the morning and

[48:50] say hey get up get out of bed read the

[48:53] word it will impact your life it'll

[48:56] change your life

[48:57] but I can't do that for everybody I can

[49:01] only do that for me now I can get my

[49:03] kids out of bed say boys get up get your

[49:06] Bibles in your devotion time but I can't

[49:11] be in your house some you better be

[49:13] thankful I don't have keys to your house

[49:15] I show up you're laying in your bed all

[49:19] comfy and asleep and all of a sudden the

[49:22] preacher leans in and says good morning

[49:25] it's time to get up it's time to read

[49:29] the Word of God

[49:30] you better be thankful I ain't got keys

[49:32] amen

[49:33] some of you be scared if I walked in the

[49:36] room said get up read the word but you

[49:42] don't need the preacher to do that you

[49:45] don't need me to do that cuz you got the

[49:48] Holy Spirit living inside you and he

[49:52] says get up and read my word he says get

[49:58] out of bed and spend time in God's Word

[50:01] he says be faithful to the house of God
