[0:46] Good evening everyone. [music] I'm Carol
[0:48] Simpson. It is an amazing tale of
[0:51] determination and luck. Nine men stuck
[0:54] deep beneath the ground, rescued early
[0:56] this morning from a coal mine in
[0:58] Somerset, Pennsylvania. Loved ones and
[1:01] colleagues had feared the worst. Six of
[1:04] the miners are back home. Three are
[1:06] still being treated. Tonight, ABC's John
[1:09] Yang reports from a hospital in nearby
[1:12] Johnstown. John
[1:14] >> Carol, the doctors say these miners are
[1:16] in remarkable shape, suffering no more
[1:18] than mild hypothermia and dehydration.
[1:22] And they're beginning to tell the tale
[1:23] of their ordeal, talking about a wall of
[1:26] rushing water so hard and so fast it
[1:29] left them pinned up against the wall of
[1:31] the minehaft and gasping for breath.
[1:36] Minor Blaine Mayhew said he had only one
[1:38] thought during his 77 hours underground.
[1:41] This is it.
[1:44] That I didn't think I was going to see
[1:46] my wife or my kids again. And the only
[1:49] day in my life I never kissed
