[0:00] think ic's of a certain level of
[0:02] experience let's say 8 to 10 years of
[0:04] experience really start to hit the
[0:06] ceiling of leadership or management as
[0:09] the only path for them because levels
[0:12] have been set up in that way and I think
[0:16] it's a big problem it is not the same on
[0:18] the engineering side it's a very common
[0:21] ladder for high performance Engineers to
[0:24] continue on an icy track it is just a
[0:26] much less common model for PMS I think
[0:30] it's because product leaders have not
[0:31] been creative enough when it comes to
[0:33] how to structure their product teams and
[0:35] so it's something I've really focused on
[0:38] is ensuring that I have a ladder an IC
[0:42] ladder that goes all the way up to the
[0:43] SE Suite it's totally defined and I
[0:46] actually there's a chief product
[0:48] Innovation officer that is seite
[0:51] executive level person that reports to
[0:54] me that is an icpm and is fabulous and
[0:57] has been at the company for many years
[0:59] and it's been really effective role so
[1:02] you know I think that IC path is really
[1:04] important and I also believe that even
[1:07] if you Branch into management as a
[1:09] product leader you should still have
[1:11] some pretty good icpm skills and still
[1:13] get your hands on the work today I want
[1:15] to share an interview of CLA V ex Chief
[1:17] product officer of color and optimize
[1:20] CLA believes that is finally time for
[1:22] the individual contributor product
[1:24] manager to shine we spoke about why PM
[1:27] performance theater needs to end how to
[1:29] pursue the super in CPM career path and
[1:32] how in cpms can use AI to excel at their
[1:36] job Clea has so many hot ticks and I
[1:38] think
