[0:03] This is the CBS Evening News

[0:07] with Dan Rather and Connie Chung.

[0:11] >> Good evening. US forces in Haiti have

[0:13] suffered their first combat casualty.

[0:16] >> It happened in a small town in southern

[0:18] Haiti. A US Army Green Beret was shot

[0:20] today apparently by a Haitian wearing a

[0:22] military uniform and using a military

[0:25] weapon, though US authorities have been

[1:17] tied behind their backs.

[1:21] Loudspeakers blared in Creole,

[1:23] "Everybody stay inside your house." But

[1:26] it didn't take long before the operation

[1:28] had an audience and people seem to be

[1:31] enjoying the show.

[1:32] The troops ran around the corner to the

[1:34] Palace of Justice, came across some
