[0:56] subject of a national debate tonight. A
[0:59] debate involving race and taste. Don
[1:02] Imus, who's made a career out of saying
[1:03] the outrageous, admits he went too far
[1:06] when he made racially charged remarks
[1:08] about a women's college basketball team.
[1:11] Imus works for CBS. His national radio
[1:13] program is simulcast by MSNBC. Tonight
[1:16] MSNBC said it's suspending the program
[1:19] for two weeks beginning next Monday.
[1:21] Amid calls for his firing, Imus went on
[1:23] Reverend Al Sharpton's radio show today
[1:26] to apologize and explain himself. We
[1:29] have two reports tonight beginning with
[1:30] Richard Schlesinger. And a word of
[1:32] caution, you may find some of the
[1:34] language offensive.
