[0:00] to what's been going on over the last
[0:02] four or five hours.
[0:04] >> Well, the sirens stirred up things quite
[0:07] a bit here and you can understand that.
[0:09] Uh, but we have talked to Saudis who are
[0:12] in our vicinity and they seem genuinely
[0:14] pleased. There's been a strong will here
[0:17] for some time to go to war uh to to wipe
[0:20] out as they see it the threat to the
[0:22] kingdom. And you yourselves have been
[0:26] sent to the shelters a few times
[0:29] >> twice during the past several hours. Air
[0:31] raid warnings went off. We were told by
[0:33] the Marines that a Scud missile alert
[0:36] was in effect. Uh everybody was
[0:37] evacuated and sent into the basement
[0:40] with the gas masks that we've all been
[0:43] issued here by our representative
[0:45] companies.
[0:45] >> Can you hold it up a little higher?
[0:47] >> Yeah. I don't know if you can see that.
[0:48] >> Yeah, I can.

[0:53] most part, the the masks were what were
[0:55] being carried by everyone here.
[0:57] >> Our medical editor, Tim Johnson, having
[0:59] done a study of this over the last
[1:01] several days, told me that the gas masks
[1:03] issued to US forces in the Gulf were not
[1:06] up to the par of America's allies in the
[1:08] Gulf. Have you heard anything about
[1:09] that?
[1:10] >> I've heard that same criticism. And in
[1:12] fact, the gas masks that we purchased
[1:15] for our people here are of British
[1:16] design, if that tells you anything.
[1:19] What else, Bill? What about uh military
[1:21] activity elsewhere in the province? Have
[1:23] you been able to get a handle on that?
[1:24] Has the joint information bureau there
[1:26] given you
