[0:44] Obama is taking a major step aimed at

[0:46] reducing greenhouse gases and cleaning

[0:49] up the environment new Nationwide rules

[0:52] that will cut the amount of pollutants

[0:53] cars and light trucks can put out and

[0:56] increase the mileage they'll have to

[0:58] achieve per gallon of fuel our chief

[1:00] White House correspondent chip Reed has

[1:03] details in a dramatic change in how cars

[1:06] and light trucks are regulated the

[1:08] president tomorrow will announce new

[1:10] national standards on fuel efficiency

[1:12] and tailpipe emissions a plan even some

[1:15] environmentalists weren't expecting so

[1:17] soon this is an enormous announcement uh

[1:20] that we will finally get national

[1:21] standards that accelerate fuel economy

[1:23] standards under the president's plan by

[1:25] 2016 cars would be required to average

[1:28] 42 m a gallon light trucks 27 for a

[1:31] fleet average of about 35 m a gallon a

[1:34] significant increase over today's

[1:36] standard of 25 the mileage requirements

[1:39] are expected to stimulate development of

[1:41] cleaner burning vehicles and reduce

[1:43] harmful tailpipe emissi
