[0:00] Thomas Jefferson changed the court. Good
[0:02] evening everyone. The anthrax attacks
[0:04] continue today. Confirmation that two
[0:06] postal employees have died as a result
[0:09] of inhaling anthrax. Two others who
[0:11] worked at the same facility have been
[0:13] hospitalized with inhalation anthrax.
[0:15] Both tonight are in critical but stable
[0:18] condition. Authorities in New Jersey say
[0:20] they have confirmed a case of anthrax
[0:22] inhalation there as well. The woman
[0:25] employee worked at the same mail center
[0:27] that handled letters sent to Senator Tom
[0:29] Dashel, Tom Brokaw, and the New York
[0:32] Post. Late today, a White House mail
[0:34] screening facility, also testing
[0:36] positive for anthrax spores. None of the
[0:38] employees who work at that facility
[0:40] tested positive for anthrax exposure.
[0:43] John King joins us now from the White
[0:45] House with more on that story. John Lou,
[0:47] good evening to you. That facility is
[0:49] located at a military installation, the
[0:50] Anacostia Naval Yard, a few miles from
[0:53] the White House. All White House mail
[0:55] even before September 11th was brought
[0:57] to that facility for additional security
[0:59] checks. We are told a very small trace
[1:01] amount of anthrax spores found in a
[1:03] slitting machine, a machine that opens
[1:05] the White House mail so that it can go
[1:06] through additional security tests. No
[1:09] powder at that site at all. So the
[1:11] operating assumption we are told now is
[1:13] that a letter or letters became
[1:15] contaminated at the previous stop. All
[1:17] the White House mail also goes to the
[1:19] Brentwood facility in the District of
[1:20] Columbia, the workplace of those two
[1:22] gentlemen
