[0:03] Afghan president Hamid Karai is blaming
[0:06] this week's violence in his country on
[0:07] Islamic militants living in the
[0:09] mountains of neighboring Pakistan same
[0:12] region where Taliban fighters are
[0:13] believed to be hiding Osama Bin Laden
[0:16] over the past two days militants have
[0:18] attacked us and Canadian Forces and
[0:20] Afghan towns in two Southern provinces
[0:23] more than 100 people have been killed
[0:25] most of them Taliban but 15 Afghan
[0:28] police an American civilian and a
[0:30] Canadian Soldier also died the killings
[0:32] marked the most violence period in
[0:34] Afghanistan since the fall of the
[0:36] Taliban in 2001 so why now journalist
[0:39] and CBS News consultant Jerry Van djk
[0:41] joins us with some insight good morning

[0:49] uh suicide bombing in GNE just outside
[0:51] of American Military Base in the South
[0:53] this tremendous battle that took place
[0:55] further east in Kandahar just north of
[0:57] Pakistan's blistan Province we had a
[1:00] suicide bomber in harat today or
[1:02] yesterday which is right near the
[1:03] Iranian border all over the country we
[1:05] had attacks on girls schools in Bak Shan
[1:08] and in Mazza Sharif Valk province in the
[1:10] north all of a sudden throughout
[1:11] Afghanistan it seems that everything is
[1:14] picked up all of a sudden but it is
[1:15] building has been building for a long
[1:17] time now what does that mean about the
[1:18] Taliban are they regrouping the Taliban
[1:21] never really went away what really
[1:22] happened was Americans felt and a lot of
[1:25] observers felt throughout
