[0:00] us tonight of Oklahoma. Senator Coburn,
[0:02] thanks a lot for coming on.
[0:03] >> Glad to be with you, Tucker. It's been a
[0:05] long day.
[0:05] >> Yeah, I I bet it has been. You've been
[0:07] in the in the Roberts hearings all day
[0:09] long. Um, I think you're doing a this
[0:11] legislation is a great idea. Someone
[0:13] needs to oversee where this money is
[0:14] spent, but why should the federal
[0:16] government rebuild the battered area in
[0:18] the first place? Philosophically, why is
[0:19] it the federal government's
[0:20] responsibility to do that?
[0:21] >> Well, I don't think that that's what
[0:22] we're talking about right now,
[0:23] rebuilding. What we're talking about is
[0:25] meeting the needs of those people who
[0:27] have just been tremendously overwhelmed
[0:29] by the the greatest natural tra tragedy
[0:32] that this country's ever seen. Uh so I
[0:36] don't think the decision to rebuild by
[0:38] your tax dollars yet has been made.
[0:40] >> But $62 billion I mean that's not just
[0:42] food and water. I mean it's got to be
[0:44] going to infrastructure.
[0:44] >> Well I think that that raises the whole
[0:46] question is nobody knows and that's
[0:50] nobody knows where it's going. Nobody
[0:51] knows where came of where we got this
[0:53] estimate. And and the idea is is that we
[0:56] need to know and we need to know how the
[0:58] money is going out and it needs to be
[0:59] watched as it goes out rather than
[1:01] looked at after the fact. And so myself
[1:04] and Senator Obama uh put together a bill
[1:06] that both the majority leader and the
[1:08] minority leader of the Senate support
[1:10] and hopefully will come come through and
[1:12] it creates a chief financial officer and
[1:14] overseer for all t
