[0:00] destruction.

[0:02] Jerry Peterson, CBS News, Bak Ray.

[0:06] >> Israel's chief hostage negotiator says

[0:08] he still expects progress on an exchange

[0:10] of hostages, including Americans, held

[0:13] in Lebanon, but the expected release of

[0:15] American Joseph Cypio today did not

[0:18] materialize. Bob Simon has more from Tel

[0:21] Aviv.

[0:22] Israelis now revealed that this scene at

[0:24] their border with Lebanon was part of a

[0:26] carefully choreographed deal and that

[0:28] Hezbollah has not come through with the

[0:30] goods until it does. Israelis saying the

[0:33] road to further releases will remain

[0:35] blocked. Perez Aquayar had worked out

[0:37] all the steps. This stage involved the

[0:40] return of nine Hezbollah bodies and the

[0:42] release of 51 prisoners in exchange for

[0:45] complete information on two Israeli

[0:47] soldiers missing since 1986. The

[0:50] Israelis got what they needed on one,

[0:52] enough information to pronounce him

[0:53] dead. But Hezbollah short changed them

[0:56] on the other.

[0:57] >> I have no doubt in my mind that the

[0:59] information required is in their hands.

[1:02] >> So why aren't they supplying?

[1:03] >> Because it seems that they want to

[1:06] extort some more.

[1:07] >> Despite the impass, Israelis believe the

[1:09] Iranians want to get out of the hostage

[1:11] business and all they're doing now is

[1:13] haggling over price. The Israelis seem

[1:15] to be suggesting that if Hezbollah just

[1:18] provides a little more information about

[1:19] a soldier who's almost certainly dead,

[1:22] they will release more Shiites and that

[1:24] could open doors for more of the

[1:25] Westerners in Lebanon. Bob
