[0:31] Good morning. Uh let me make a few
[0:33] remarks uh on behalf of Pat and his mom
[0:36] and dad, John and Kathy, and sister
[0:39] Maggie, I wanted and all the Craig
[0:40] Hospital staff, I wanted to welcome you
[0:42] all uh here for a very happy event. Uh
[0:46] it's fitting that Pat's going home on
[0:48] Independence Day weekend
[0:50] because he's well on his way to becoming
[0:51] independent and is now ready to leave
[0:53] the hospital and continue his treatment
[0:55] on an outpatient basis.
[0:57] Beginning next week, he'll come back for
[0:59] daily therapy which includes
[1:01] occupational therapy, physical therapy,
[1:04] speech and language therapy school
[1:07] tutoring therapeutic recreation,
[1:09] individual and group exercise classes,
[1:12] and a number of other activities. Uh
[1:15] Pat's goal and Craig's goal is to help
[1:17] prepare Pat to return to school uh in
[1:19] mid-August.
[1:21] Um as you can see, Pat has made terrific
[1:23] progress in all aspects of his
[1:25] rehabilitation uh since the last time
[1:28] you all were here. Uh he's now walking
[1:30] with the assistance of a forearm crutch
[1:32] and a a solid plastic leg brace. He only
[1:36] uses a wheelchair now for very long
[1:38] distances and soon won't need that
[1:40] either. Uh he's making great progress in
[1:42] all of his other therapies as well.
[1:45] Uh Pat Ireland is a remarkable young man
[1:48] who continues to demonstrate his high
[1:50] levels of intelligence
[1:52] determination, and work ethic and has
[1:55] been an inspiration to all of us.
