[12:17] can take it to him in prayer and

[12:19] communicate with him if you have your

[12:21] Bibles go to Psalm

[12:23] 25 Psalm 25 tonight continuing our

[12:27] series on prayer prayer is

[12:30] important and ought to be practiced by

[12:33] every

[12:35] believer ought to be part of your

[12:37] everyday life spending time with the

[12:39] Lord in prayer so Psalm 25 verse number

[12:43] one Psalm 25 verse number

[12:46] one David the psalmist here is

[12:50] writing and In this passage are some

[12:54] good thoughts and some things for us to

[12:57] consider when it comes to prayer

[13:00] and so David writes unto us in Psalm 25

[13:02] verse number one unto thee Oh Lord do I

[13:05] lift up my soul oh my God I trust in

[13:10] thee let me not be ashamed let not my

[13:13] enemies triumph over me yay let none

[13:16] that wait on thee be ashamed let them be

[13:20] ashamed which transgress without cause

[13:24] show me thy ways oh Lord teach me thy

[13:27] paths lead me in thy truth and teach me

[13:31] for thou art the god of my salvation on

[13:35] thee do I wait all the day remember oh

[13:39] Lord thy Tender Mercies and thy loving

[13:41] kindnesses for they have been ever of

[13:45] old remember not the sins of my youth

[13:48] nor my

[13:49] transgressions according to thy mercy

[13:51] remember thou me for thy goodness sake

[13:54] oh Lord good and upright is the Lord

[13:59] therefore will he teach sinners in the

[14:02] way the meek he will guide in judgment

[14:06] and the meek will he teach his way all

[14:10] the paths of the Lord are mercy and

[14:13] Truth unto such as keep his Covenant and

[14:17] his

[14:17] testimonies for thy name's sake oh Lord

[14:20] pardon mine iniquity for it is great

[14:25] what man is he that feareth the Lord him

[14:28] shall he teach in the way that he shall

[14:30] choose his soul shall dwell at ease and

[14:34] his seed shall inherit the

[14:37] earth the secret of the Lord is with

[14:40] them that fear Him and He will show him

[14:44] them his Covenant mine eyes are ever

[14:47] toward the Lord for he shall pluck my

[14:49] feet out of the

[14:51] net in our passage

[14:54] tonight we could continue on through the

[14:57] rest of the passage and we we make a

[14:59] mention of it but we're going to really

[15:00] focus in on those first 11 verses

[15:05] tonight and see what the Lord has for us

[15:08] this evening let's go to the Lord in

[15:10] prayer tonight de Heavenly Father Lord I

[15:12] Thank you for the opportunity to preach

[15:14] your word tonight Lord I pray if you

[15:16] would please cleanse me of sin Empty Me

[15:19] of myself that I might get out of the

[15:21] way tonight and your word may go forth

[15:25] Lord I pray that you'd speak to our

[15:26] hearts tonight challenge us from your

[15:28] word

[15:29] help us to consider David and then to

[15:33] consider us and to consider

[15:36] you help us this evening Lord we pray in

[15:40] your name

[15:41] Amen in Psalm 25 in verse number one

[15:46] David's writing a Psalm at this time and

[15:49] it is believed to be during the time of

[15:52] absalom's rebellion against

[15:55] him so David's on the Run we we kind of

[15:58] know some of that timeline by the

[16:00] writing style that is here in fact in in

[16:03] Hebrew it's very interesting this very

[16:05] poetical Psalm in Hebrew every verse is

[16:08] a different letter of the Hebrew

[16:10] alphabet in sequential order so a Al

[16:13] Alpha and then all the way down and so

[16:15] each verse in Hebrew now I don't read

[16:19] Hebrew and I don't speak Hebrew and so I

[16:22] just wanted to share that with you it's

[16:24] an interesting thought of the poetical

[16:26] style of Psalm 25 five but David writes

[16:30] unto thee O Lord do I lift up my soul a

[16:36] thought for us to remember when it comes

[16:39] to

[16:40] praying is the

[16:43] direction of our

[16:46] prayers the direction of our prayers

[16:50] David writes unto thee Oh Lord do I lift

[16:52] up my soul when we're praying we're

[16:55] praying to God we're not praying to the

[16:58] son

[16:59] we're not praying to uh Allah who's dead

[17:04] it's not real we're not praying to some

[17:07] man we're praying to God

[17:10] Almighty and David writes unto thee Oh

[17:12] Lord so some thoughts to consider when

[17:14] you pray remember who you're praying to

[17:17] the direction of our

[17:20] prayers I want you also to notice when

[17:23] it comes to David here especially in

[17:25] verse number one he says do I lift up My

[17:31] Soul David just isn't

[17:34] praying just not just saying words he is

[17:38] going through an act that is from his

[17:41] very soul and as you read Psalm 25

[17:45] you'll see

[17:46] emotion you will see trusting you will

[17:50] see all these different displays of

[17:53] someone who's pouring out their heart to

[17:57] the Lord when you and I go to God In

[18:00] Prayer don't let it be

[18:03] routine let it be from our soul pouring

[18:06] our soul out to him last week we talked

[18:10] about praying like Jesus in The Garden

[18:12] of Gethsemane and he is emotional when

[18:15] he prayed God wants to hear how you

[18:20] feel he didn't give you emotions not to

[18:23] use them when you

[18:25] pray he gave them to you so you would

[18:28] use them them God wants to know when

[18:31] you're angry God wants to know when

[18:33] you're hurting God wants to know when

[18:34] you're overwhelmed and David pours out

[18:37] his soul he says do I lift up my

[18:40] soul number two thought on prayer

[18:43] tonight is found in verse number two he

[18:45] says oh my God I trust in

[18:51] thee if you want to pray the way you

[18:54] ought to pray you got to trust the one

[18:56] you're praying to

[18:59] you have to trust the one you're praying

[19:03] to David writes I trust in thee let me

[19:07] not be ashamed let not my enemies

[19:09] triumph over me David trust in the

[19:14] Lord it's real difficult to pray if you

[19:20] don't trust

[19:21] God if you don't have faith in him it

[19:24] becomes very difficult to pray but in

[19:28] David's life as it's revealed to us we

[19:31] ought to be able to say I trust in the

[19:34] Lord I have faith in God when I go to

[19:38] the Lord in prayer I ought to trust that

[19:40] he hears me I ought to trust that he

[19:43] cares for me I got to trust that he's

[19:45] got the best for me in mine I've got to

[19:49] trust him and so trusting the one you're

[19:52] praying to in verse number three David

[19:55] says yay let none that wait on thee be

[20:00] ashamed let them be ashamed which

[20:02] transgress without cause so verses 1

[20:05] through S are David's first

[20:08] prayer and in the middle of that verse

[20:11] number three he goes from praying about

[20:14] his needs to praying for

[20:17] others and if you want to have some

[20:20] thought on prayer you ought to know the

[20:22] direction of your prayer you ought to

[20:23] trust the one you're praying to and it

[20:25] ought to be part of your prayer life is

[20:27] praying for others

[20:30] don't just pray for

[20:32] yourself pray for others and so David

[20:35] illustrates for us even though absalom's

[20:38] rebelling even though there's chaos in

[20:41] the kingdom and we know that because he

[20:43] gets to the end of the chapter look at

[20:45] verse 22 he says redeem Israel oh God

[20:49] out of all his

[20:52] troubles his last words of his prayer

[20:55] was to redeem Israel because there's a

[20:58] civil War taking place absalom's got his

[21:01] crowd and David is on this side and

[21:03] there's turmoil in the land so David's

[21:06] got a heart to pray some thoughts on

[21:09] prayer verses 1 through S or David's

[21:12] first prayer as I mentioned verses 8

[21:14] through 10 are his meditative

[21:19] thoughts his meditative thoughts and

[21:21] then in verse 11 he prays verses 12

[21:25] through 15 are more meditative thoughts

[21:29] verses 16 through the end of the chapter

[21:32] is another prayer and we know that by

[21:35] the language of the chapter and how who

[21:37] he directs the prayer to but it is

[21:41] interesting that in the middle when we

[21:43] get to verse 11 that in his meditative

[21:46] thoughts about God something comes up

[21:48] and he needs to deal with it so there's

[21:51] a Praying for others notice verse number

[21:55] three y let none that wait

[21:59] on thee be

[22:02] ashamed let none that wait on thee be

[22:05] ashamed let them be ashamed which

[22:08] transgress without cause SO

[22:11] waiting on the

[22:15] Lord goes hand in hand with trusting

[22:21] God is very difficult to wait on the

[22:25] Lord if you don't trust him

[22:30] think about it it's very difficult to

[22:33] wait on the Lord if you don't trust

[22:36] him but if you have had trust in the

[22:39] Lord and you trust him it becomes more

[22:45] successful in waiting on god notice I

[22:48] didn't say easy because easy is not the

[22:50] right

[22:52] word you just become more successful on

[22:55] waiting on God when you have a trust in

[22:58] him I think of Proverbs 35 and6 which

[23:01] tells us trust in the Lord with all

[23:05] thine heart and lean not unto thine own

[23:08] understanding in all thy ways

[23:10] acknowledge Him and He Shall direct thy

[23:13] path so he says let none that wait that

[23:15] wait and that trust in verse two go hand

[23:19] in hand verse

[23:22] four show

[23:24] me thy ways oh Lord

[23:29] so David's praying and in this situation

[23:33] he could have prayed get rid of

[23:36] absum fix it God he could have prayed

[23:40] very specifically into the way of God

[23:44] fix it God helped God changed the

[23:50] circumstances but instead David prays

[23:53] verse four show me thy ways oh Lord

[23:58] number four thought on prayer tonight

[24:01] dependence on God's

[24:03] leadership for

[24:06] life when you and I pray we ought to

[24:09] remember we are dependent on God for his

[24:12] leadership for our life we can't do it

[24:15] on our

[24:17] own left to ourselves we will create a

[24:22] mess but thanks be to God he can take

[24:25] your mess and make it into a Beautiful

[24:28] Mess

[24:29] message but David Cries Out show me thy

[24:33] ways oh Lord so he's dependent on God

[24:36] trusting the Lord leads to

[24:40] showing from God when we trust him he

[24:45] shows

[24:46] us his

[24:48] ways why is that because when we don't

[24:51] trust him we're not looking for his ways

[24:54] we are self-sufficient and

[24:56] self-dependent instead of trusting and

[24:59] leaning on the Lord so David prays show

[25:02] me thy ways oh Lord teach me thy

[25:07] paths then he continues on Lead Me in

[25:10] thy truth and teach me for thou art the

[25:14] god of my salvation on thee do I wait

[25:19] all the day there's that wait word again

[25:24] that wait word goes with that

[25:26] trusting so trust of the Lord leads to

[25:29] showing so David asked God to lead him

[25:32] Lead Me verse five lead me that phrase

[25:36] Lead Me is found 11 times in Psalms that

[25:40] David wrote about God David asked God in

[25:43] his prayers 11 times throughout the Book

[25:46] of Psalms lead

[25:50] me what does that reveal to us David

[25:53] sought the Lord for leadership in his

[25:57] life David's a man of authority he's a

[26:00] King David's a man that has people under

[26:03] him as far as the kingly rule David's a

[26:06] man who answers for a multitude of

[26:09] people but yet he still says God I need

[26:13] you to lead

[26:14] me I can't do it on my own Lead Me So 11

[26:18] times in Psalms David uses the words

[26:22] lead me in this prayer time also it says

[26:24] in the text he said Lead Me in thy truth

[26:27] and teach me David prays teach me 14

[26:32] times in the

[26:33] Psalms teach

[26:35] me this is the King this is the one who

[26:38] wrote many Psalms this is the one who is

[26:42] a leader of man that's described as a

[26:45] man after God's Own Heart and he's

[26:46] saying God teach me in other words David

[26:50] has a spirit that he doesn't know

[26:52] everything and he needs God's

[26:54] instruction so he asked God to teach me

[26:58] 14 times throughout the Psalms David

[27:00] prays teach me Lord teach me he

[27:04] continues on verse six remember oh Lord

[27:08] thy Tender Mercies we'll get to that in

[27:10] just a moment but verse five back to

[27:13] five teach me for thou art the god of my

[27:15] salvation on thee do I wait all the day

[27:20] to wait on God as we said earlier is to

[27:23] trust

[27:25] him keep your eyes on on the Lord for

[27:30] guidance and

[27:32] Direction keep your eyes on the Lord for

[27:36] guidance and direction we're not going

[27:38] to do it tonight for sake of time I've

[27:40] used the illustration multiple times

[27:42] many of you are familiar with it where I

[27:45] have two young men walk across the front

[27:46] of the auditorium and walk back and I

[27:48] tell them to walk in step with one

[27:50] another and the first time they do it

[27:53] they're not in Step they're out of Step

[27:55] why because one of them is not pay

[27:58] attention to the one that represents the

[28:00] Lord the one that represents God I tell

[28:03] the other one all right this one

[28:04] represents the Lord you stay in step

[28:07] with him so you know what happens he's

[28:09] paying attention to where God steps

[28:12] that's where he steps he tries to stay

[28:14] in step with God why by paying attention

[28:17] to where God is going and where God is

[28:20] leading if you and I aren't pay

[28:32] [Music]

[28:37] so we started off with some thoughts on

[28:40] prayer and we gave you those four but

[28:43] then the chapter

[28:58] in prayer so David's prayed through

[29:00] these first verses and now he gets to

[29:02] verse number six he still prayed he says

[29:06] remember oh Lord thy Tender Mercies and

[29:11] thy loving kindness

[29:27] for e

[30:22] and things God will do so look at David

[30:24] verse six remember oh Lord thy Tender

[30:27] Mercies thy loving kindnesses for they

[30:30] have been ever of old remember not the

[30:34] sins of my youth nor my transgressions

[30:37] that's how we kind of know that phrase

[30:38] there my youth we know David's not a

[30:41] young man when he wrote this song A

[30:43] little bit older in life nor my

[30:45] transgressions according to thy mercy

[30:48] remember thou me for thy goodness sake

[30:52] oh

[30:54] Lord so David as he's praying in vers s

[30:58] he's remembering the Lord's Tender

[31:01] Mercies he's remembering the Lord's

[31:03] loving kindness he's remembering that

[31:06] the Lord's forgiven him he's reminding

[31:08] himself of the mercy he's reminding

[31:11] himself that God did it not because of

[31:14] David but because God is good so he

[31:17] reminds himself of that so when you and

[31:20] I pray there ought to be a help for us

[31:23] to remind ourselves to bring to mind

[31:26] what God has done how do we do that past

[31:32] experiences past

[31:35] experiences of what God has done will

[31:38] help you in your prayer life

[31:43] today remind yourself of prayers he's

[31:46] answering some people do that by keeping

[31:49] a prayer

[31:50] Journal they write their request down

[31:53] and then next to that request they have

[31:55] the word answer

[31:58] and guess what you can do if you prayer

[32:01] Journal you can go back and you can say

[32:03] look what God's done look what God's

[32:07] done look what God

[32:53] I remember a time in my life we we were

[32:55] in youth ministry and money was super

[32:59] tight and it was a week where we didn't

[33:01] have a lot of grocery money and when our

[33:04] kids were little some of you can testify

[33:06] to this diapers are

[33:09] expensive they are and when you have

[33:12] multiple kids in diapers it's no

[33:15] fun and so I remember this time of we

[33:18] needed diapers for two of the boys we

[33:20] needed groceries for the week and I

[33:22] thought I don't know how it's going to

[33:23] get done I don't know how it's going to

[33:26] get done my wife gave me a list of all

[33:29] the things that we needed for the

[33:32] house and I went in the

[33:35] store with our limited budget money for

[33:42] groceries now some of you it's easier

[33:45] for you to see it today but this was uh

[33:52] 2010 this is before the stores put all

[33:55] their coupons online

[33:58] this was before if you were poor you

[34:00] couldn't afford to buy the paper to get

[34:02] the coupons come on you know what I'm

[34:04] talking about so it was one of those

[34:06] moments so I go into the store and my

[34:08] wife's got a list and everything

[34:35] now the next

[34:37] week is a tight week

[34:40] again tighter than the week before and I

[34:44] was thinking all right what are we going

[34:45] to

[34:46] do I pulled into the parking lot we

[34:49] lived in the house we lived in was in a

[34:51] subdivision right behind a grocery

[34:54] store I pulled in the parking lot of the

[34:56] grocery store

[34:58] and I said Lord I don't know how we're

[35:01] going to do it this

[35:02] week and I opened the door brother

[35:04] scooter and there on the ground was a

[35:07] gift

[35:09] card I picked it up I took it inside I

[35:11] took it to customer service and I said

[35:14] found this gift card in the parking lot

[35:16] I said oh you can keep

[35:17] it they said there's probably nothing on

[35:23] it there was

[35:25] $75 on it

[35:28] I got all the groceries plus extra

[35:32] stuff now you say well that's just a

[35:35] coincidence no that's

[35:39] God so listen some of those past

[35:44] experiences of what God has done will

[35:47] encourage you in your prayer life

[35:49] another thing that will bring to mind

[35:52] what God has done and what God will do

[35:54] is the promises from his word

[35:58] word if you've read the word and you

[36:00] know what God says in his word it'll

[36:03] encourage you in your prayer

[36:06] life David is remembering the Lord and

[36:11] who the Lord is he reminds himself of

[36:15] that so then let's look at verse eight

[36:16] these verses 8 through 10 are meditative

[36:19] verses that he writes for us good and

[36:23] upright is the Lord therefore will he

[36:27] teach sinners in the way the meek will

[36:31] he guide in judgment and the meek will

[36:34] he teach his way all the paths of the

[36:38] Lord are mercy and Truth unto such as

[36:42] keep his Covenant and his testimony so

[36:45] he's talking about God how good God is

[36:49] the things that God does the praise that

[36:52] he's given to God then in verse

[36:56] 11 for thy name's sake oh Lord pardon

[37:00] mine iniquity for it is great and then

[37:03] he goes right back into meditating on

[37:06] God so he's meditating on the Lord and

[37:10] then the it reminds him of his

[37:13] iniquity probably more than likely the

[37:16] iniquity committed with Bas Sheba the

[37:18] sin

[37:19] there and it brings to him that he still

[37:22] is sorry to God now remember absalon's

[37:25] Rebellion is part of the punishment

[37:27] because of his

[37:29] sin absalom's

[37:32] sin and his other son's

[37:36] sin and the losing of the child is all

[37:40] connected as the punishment for David's

[37:43] sin so David in this moment where

[37:45] Absalom is against him and even though

[37:47] he's praying and he's thinking about the

[37:48] goodness of God when you get a proper

[37:50] view of who God is it makes you realize

[37:53] who you are we can see it in Isaiah

[37:56] chapter 6

[37:58] when Isaiah sees the Lord high and

[38:00] lifted up his train fills the temple and

[38:03] above him stood the seraphim each one

[38:05] having six wings with Twain he covered

[38:07] their feet with Twain they covered their

[38:08] face with Twain They did fly and they

[38:10] cried holy holy holy is the Lord God of

[38:13] all all Lord God of hosts and he goes

[38:16] through this

[38:17] scene he sees God for who he

[38:20] is Isaiah's response is woe is me for I

[38:26] am undone

[38:27] I'm a man of unclean lips and I dwell in

[38:30] the midst of people of unclean lips he

[38:34] sees God at humbles

[38:37] him here's a prayer help for

[38:40] you we talked about bring to mind what

[38:43] God has done and what God will do by our

[38:45] past experiences and the promises from

[38:47] his word number two tonight keep your

[38:50] sin account

[38:53] clear keep your sin account clear turn

[38:57] over to to Psalm

[39:00] 66 you underline verses in your Bible

[39:03] you ought to underline verses 18 and 19

[39:06] of Psalm

[39:11] 66 Psalm 66 verse number

[39:18] 18 if I regard iniquity in my heart the

[39:24] Lord will what's the last three words

[39:28] not hear

[39:31] me sin in my heart and I continue in the

[39:37] Sin the Lord will not hear me notice the

[39:41] punctuation there the thought continues

[39:43] but verily God hath heard me he hath

[39:47] attended to the voice of my prayer

[39:50] blessed be God which hath not turned

[39:52] away my prayer nor his Mercy from me so

[39:55] what has happened he got his heart right

[39:58] and God will hear your prayer when you

[40:00] want to get your heart right but if you

[40:02] want to continue in your sin he will not

[40:07] hear your

[40:09] prayer keep your sin account

[40:14] clear let's think about it tonight in

[40:16] your prayer life you got sin in your

[40:19] heart regarding iniquity in your heart

[40:22] your prayers sound like Charlie Brown's

[40:24] teacher

[40:28] can't

[40:30] hear because of our

[40:32] iniquity but God is faithful he'll Clean

[40:35] us

[40:36] up and if you pray to get clean he'll

[40:39] hear your

[40:40] prayer but if you're praying to get what

[40:42] you want and you don't want to get

[40:46] clean you will not

[40:50] hear so make sure you keep your sin

[40:52] account

[40:54] clear David continues on as he talks

[40:58] about God he

[41:01] says that thou for my goodness sake oh

[41:04] Lord verse 8 good and upright is the

[41:08] Lord David takes God at his word by

[41:14] faith one of the things that'll help us

[41:16] in our prayer time is God's word is true

[41:20] and we believe it by faith

[41:29] some people say God it's God's word I

[41:32] believe it therefore I can trust

[41:35] it you don't doesn't matter if you

[41:37] believe it or not it's God's word it can

[41:40] be trusted

[41:43] period you say well I don't believe well

[41:46] sorry God's word is true whether you

[41:49] believe it or not the truth of God's

[41:51] word is not dependent upon your belief

[41:53] God's word is truth

[41:55] period it stands on

[41:57] alone so David writes about good and

[42:01] upright is the

[42:03] Lord now let's see what the lord is good

[42:06] now remember this here's another help

[42:09] for our prayer time and our prayer life

[42:11] God is

[42:13] good not because he does good but

[42:16] because he is good listen God is good

[42:20] not because he does good but because he

[42:23] is good let me tell you how good he is

[42:26] look at verse eight good and upright is

[42:29] the Lord therefore will he teach sinners

[42:32] in the

[42:34] way think about that God is so good that

[42:38] even when I'm sinning he still wants to

[42:40] teach

[42:42] me he doesn't throw me away and say oh

[42:45] you messed up I'm done with you now we

[42:48] have a tendency to do that with people

[42:50] don't

[42:51] we fool me

[42:54] once fool me twice come on people do

[42:58] you're wrong oh I'm done but God's not

[43:02] that way with you aren't you thankful

[43:04] for that that God is good he instructs

[43:08] he teaches sinners in the way he knows

[43:12] where you're at and he knows what you

[43:14] need all you got to do is trust him for

[43:16] direction and instruction I think it

[43:18] mentioned that earlier in the chapter

[43:20] teach me thy way for thou art the god of

[43:24] my salvation teach me lead me show me

[43:27] me so he teaches

[43:30] Sinners but also the meek he teaches and

[43:34] he guides if you want to know how to

[43:37] live life go to

[43:39] God if you come in a humble Spirit he'll

[43:42] teach you he'll guide you he'll show you

[43:46] what you need David prays and he's

[43:49] meditating on

[43:51] this the meek he will guide in judgment

[43:54] and the meek will he teach his way all

[43:57] all the paths of the Lord are mercy and

[44:01] truth so all the paths for those who

[44:06] keep his Covenant and testimonies are

[44:09] mercy and Truth obedience to God and His

[44:14] word brings about mercy and

[44:17] truth so I wrote it this way God's

[44:21] lesson book for us includes Mercy

[44:27] grace and truth no matter the load for

[44:33] the

[44:35] student God's lesson book includes Mercy

[44:38] grace and truth no matter the load for

[44:43] the

[44:44] student no matter how difficult life may

[44:47] be God's lesson book for you includes

[44:51] Mercy Grace and Truth he wants to guide

[44:55] you teach you and instruct you he's got

[44:59] mercy and he's got Grace no matter how

[45:03] heavy the load that you're carrying

[45:05] God's got enough mercy and enough Grace

[45:08] and enough truth of the word of God to

[45:10] guide us

[45:12] through so some helps and praying

[45:15] remember God is good not because he does

[45:17] good but because he is good that's his

[45:22] character but in the middle of his

[45:24] meditative thoughts on the goodness of

[45:26] God God David's sin comes back to

[45:30] mind verse 11 David prays for God pardon

[45:35] my iniquity for it is

[45:38] great verses 12 through 15 he meditates

[45:42] again on

[45:43] God what man is he that feareth the Lord

[45:47] him shall he teach in the way that he

[45:50] shall

[45:50] choose his soul shall dwell at ease and

[45:54] his seed shall inherit the earth

[45:57] the secret of the Lord is with them that

[46:00] fear Him and He will show them his

[46:03] Covenant mine eyes are ever toward the

[46:05] Lord for he shall pluck my feet out of

[46:09] the net verses 16- 22 he has his

[46:13] concluding prayer that he prays we're

[46:16] not going to get into that prayer

[46:17] tonight for sake of

[46:20] time but David's going through a

[46:23] difficult moment in his

[46:24] life the Kingdom's a mess his own son is

[46:28] out to take over the kingdom there's a

[46:31] rebellion in the land his home has been

[46:35] overturned David is out of the palace

[46:38] he's on the run there are those that are

[46:41] mocking David there are those that are

[46:44] along the way in other Psalms and other

[46:46] portions of scripture we see that there

[46:48] are those that are crying out against

[46:50] him and the crowd was

[46:53] loud sometimes in our hearts The Voice

[46:56] can be

[46:59] loud about our

[47:02] failures about our

[47:04] shortcomings about our problems and you

[47:07] can listen to the voices and choose not

[47:11] to

[47:13] pray but no matter where you're at you

[47:17] can

[47:19] pray you can go to God as a Believer and

[47:23] pray you got to remember something you

[47:27] got to trust the one you're praying

[47:31] to don't just go into the motion of

[47:36] praying but go to the heart decision of

[47:45] praying dependence on God's leadership

[47:49] for

[47:50] Life David asked God to lead him to

[47:54] teach him to show him he says

[47:57] sometimes I've got to wait on

[48:00] him we've grown up in a instant

[48:05] Society if you got to wait more than two

[48:08] minutes for your order in the Drive-Thru

[48:10] you're

[48:12] angry if you go to Chick-fil-A and it's

[48:14] wrapped around the building and you're

[48:16] having to wait out in the Target parking

[48:18] lot you get

[48:21] frustrated you get you're like it's it's

[48:24] too long

[48:27] if you got to wait for your

[48:30] coffee you get

[48:32] angry it's probably because you haven't

[48:35] had your

[48:35] coffee but you're angry some of you have

[48:38] to have coffee to stand in the line at

[48:39] Starbucks to get coffee because it takes

[48:42] them so

[48:43] long you stop at Dunkin' Donuts to get

[48:46] coffee to stand in the line at Starbucks

[48:47] to get

[48:51] coffee but our

[48:54] life sometimes God is Not

[48:58] instantaneous in the answer to our

[49:01] prayers and that brings

[49:08] difficulty because we struggle When God

[49:12] says that dreaded answer of

[49:16] wait excuse me when God hears our

[49:20] prayers he usually often times answers

[49:24] in one of three ways

[49:28] yes we like that one

[49:32] no we don't like that one but we'll get

[49:35] over it and then the dreaded one

[49:38] wait we don't like that one we don't

[49:42] like to

[49:44] wait and listen waiting on the Lord

[49:49] strengthens your trust in the

[49:53] Lord a faith that cannot be tested is a

[49:59] faith that cannot be

[50:01] trusted a faith that cannot be tested is

[50:06] a faith that cannot be

[50:08] trusted our faith in God should have

[50:12] permission to be

[50:15] tested why because it strengthens our

[50:18] trust in

[50:21] him but you know what's difficult when

[50:23] it comes to prayer time when your sin

[50:26] account it's not

[50:28] clear when your sin account is not clear

[50:30] when you regard iniquity in your heart

[50:32] it says he will not

[50:38] here so what have you prayed for this

[50:40] week but you continued in

[50:42] iniquity guess what you didn't hear

[50:45] it I didn't say it the word says it if

[50:48] you're regarding iniquity in your heart

[50:49] if you're continuing in sin you have

[50:51] unconfessed sin in your life God has

[50:52] convicted you of that sin and you know

[50:54] that it's sin and you don't deal with it

[50:56] your prayers are just bouncing off the

[50:59] auditory

[51:01] walls wherever you're praying you're

[51:03] praying out loud it just bounces off the

[51:07] wall because of your

[51:10] iniquity now listen though here's the

[51:12] amazing thing if you have iniquity in

[51:14] your heart and you want to get right and

[51:15] you go and you pray to God guess what

[51:17] he'll hear that

[51:20] prayer he'll clean you

[51:23] up here's the amazing thing about God

[51:26] God is so merciful that sometimes even

[51:28] when we still regard iniquity in our

[51:30] heart sometimes he still

[51:33] chooses to work for our good because of

[51:39] him not because of anything we

[51:42] did not because of

[51:45] us but because of him

[51:52] his some thoughts on prayer from the

[51:55] life of David when you consider David in

[51:57] this difficult moment in this difficult

[51:59] time he could not help but remember God

[52:03] remember what God had done remember the

[52:06] promises of his word that he would teach

[52:08] us he would show us he would lead us all

[52:11] throughout our

[52:12] lives we've got to

[52:15] remember what God has

[52:18] done because it'll encourage you to keep

[52:24] pray now

[52:27] as I've gotten

[52:29] older I used to be able to recall all

[52:32] the things that God has

[52:35] done but now that I've gotten older I

[52:38] got to write them down

[52:40] more if I don't write them down I will

[52:44] forget

[52:46] them one of the reasons why is God is

[52:51] more gracious than I deserve and more

[52:55] gracious than you deserve

[52:57] God is good all the time all the time

[53:00] God is good and we got to remember what

[53:04] he has done you know what else helps me

[53:06] in my prayer life reminding myself of

[53:10] what his word says and the promises that

[53:13] are in me when you're feeling alone

[53:17] remind yourself he said I'll never leave

[53:19] thee nor

[53:21] forsake when you're

[53:24] overwhelmed the word of God says lead me

[53:26] to the rock that is higher than

[53:28] I when you feel burdened down with all

[53:31] the Affairs of Life casting all your

[53:34] care upon him because he carth for

[53:38] you see my friend you've got to remind

[53:41] yourself the promises of his

[53:44] word so how's your prayer life

[53:48] tonight could it be that we are not

[53:53] trusting who we're praying to could

[53:56] we're not not could it be we're not

[53:57] depending on him for leadership for

[53:59] everyday life could it be that we're

[54:02] struggling with waiting on him and what

[54:05] he has for us could it be that we don't

[54:08] remind ourselves of what he has done and

[54:10] what he will do through his word could

[54:13] it be that our sin account is not

[54:16] clear so our faith is

[54:19] weak remember God is still

[54:23] good even though we are

[54:28] even though we give in to sin way too

[54:32] often God is still a god of grace and

[54:37] mercy don't forget his number one

[54:41] attribute which is his

[54:45] Holiness how holy is God there is a

[54:49] being that God

[54:51] created that flies around the throne

[54:54] room of God cry in out his

[54:59] Holiness do you think he wants to

[55:02] emphasize that he's a holy

[55:05] God we love the part that God's love and

[55:08] God is merciful and God is gracious but

[55:11] don't forget his love his mercy and his

[55:14] grace flows from the Throne of his

[55:18] Holiness he said be ye holy for I am

[55:24] Holy

[55:27] you want to be like

[55:28] God you got to be

[55:31] holy you got to keep that sin account

[55:36] clear what has been charged on your sin

[55:39] account this

[55:44] week what debit what credit has been

[55:47] charged on your sin account this

[55:51] week now we don't live in years ago

[55:56] where the Catholic Church would sell you

[55:58] an Indulgence so you could ahead of time

[56:02] pay for the sin that you wanted to

[56:05] do by the way that was just a money

[56:09] pyramid scheme that wasn't God's

[56:13] permission to sin God never gives

[56:16] permission for people to

[56:19] sin it's contrary to his

[56:23] character he never gives permission to

[56:27] he tells us to be holy for I am

[56:31] Holy so what's the charges this

[56:35] week I got good news he can clear the

[56:40] debt he can clear it for you first John

[56:42] 1: N if we confess our sins he's

[56:44] faithful and just to forgive us our sins

[56:46] and to cleanse us from all

[56:48] unrighteousness he can clear the

[56:51] debt here's the problem though sometimes

[56:54] the debt isn't singular it involes

[56:56] involves other

[56:57] people so to properly clear the debt you

[57:00] can ask God for forgiveness but God

[57:02] would also say in his word to get

[57:04] forgiveness from the

[57:07] person that

[57:09] hurt you don't like that part be much

[57:12] easier if I could just pray to God in my

[57:14] room and get it right with God and then

[57:16] that would be good but God is the god of

[57:21] reconciliation and he's given us the

[57:23] ministry of reconciliation

[57:26] he forgives and he wants us to be

[57:28] reconciled together just as he's

[57:31] reconciled together with us he wants to

[57:33] restore your relationship with others

[57:36] that's a humbling process but God wants

[57:40] that so keep your sin account clear

[57:42] would you bow your heads

[57:44] tonight close your eyes for just a

[57:50] moment What

[57:52] charges are on your sin account this

[57:55] week CU I honestly hope that it's just

[57:59] from this

[58:00] week really I would hope that there's

[58:03] nothing on your

[58:05] account but I know we're

[58:08] flesh so what's on your account tonight

[58:11] that God needs to clean your the

[58:16] charges have you been continuing in sin

[58:20] Romans 6 that Grace May abound God

[58:22] forbid he says in his

[58:24] word tonight how's your prayer life your

[58:28] sin account's not clear prayer life's

[58:30] not going through tonight you need to

[58:32] get it right don't wait don't hesitate

[58:34] get it right you're like me you might

[58:37] realize I need to pray

[58:39] more I need to be involved more in the

[58:43] power of prayer I need to be involved

[58:44] more in the exercise of

[58:47] prayer maybe tonight you have a hard

[58:49] time praying because you have a hard

[58:50] time trusting God because he keeps

[58:53] saying wait wait on the Lord

[58:58] tonight whatever your need is God wants

[59:01] to hear from you through the formula of

[59:05] prayer now I think it's best if you move

[59:09] whether it's sitting in a chair or

[59:11] moving around in your chair or coming to

[59:13] an altar I just think it's best to

[64:22] intern will be preaching so you pray for

[64:23] him as he preaches next week Wednesday

[64:26] and being exposed to more Ministry stuff

[64:51] praying for them but don't say it if you

[64:52] don't mean it say you're praying for

[65:10] pray for her and then just be in prayer

[65:13] for all the folks in the church lots of

[65:16] exciting things happening and so be in

[65:18] prayer for one another good to have

[65:19] those that were traveling back home

[65:27] and didn't go traveling we're glad

[65:28] you're here too all right and I've heard

[65:31] nothing from Ben and Audrey and so in

[65:33] case you're wondering we haven't heard

[65:34] anything from them and so they're having

[65:36] a great time on their honeymoon and so

[65:39] if we're not hearing from them that's

[65:40] good news and so you pray for them as

[65:42] they're away on their honeymoon and then

[65:43] they're traveling back and so thankful

[65:46] for their new life together so you be in
