[0:01] No concession. I'll get out if you'll
[0:04] get out. We passed that.
[0:09] >> This is NBC Nightly News with Tom Bro.
[0:12] Tonight, America at war.
[0:16] Good evening. President Bush does not
[0:18] expect Operation Desert Storm to be long
[0:20] and drawn out, and he made it clear
[0:22] today that a ground war may be
[0:24] necessary. The president's personal
[0:26] assessment came as he announced that
[0:28] Defense Secretary Dick Cheney and
[0:29] General Coen Powell, the chairman of the

[1:05] members of Congress who want to avoid a
[1:07] ground war. And I remember before
[1:10] January 16th
[1:13] uh there was the same feeling. Please
[1:15] let the sanctions work. I mean I can
[1:17] understand the feeling on the hill. I
[1:19] can understand those who say let air
[1:21] power do it alone. But I'm going to make
[1:24] these calls. Uh these are these are the
[1:26] responsibilities of the of the
[1:28] commander-in-chief. Again and again, the
[1:30] president said he will not hesitate to
[1:32] start a ground war, even if i
