[0:04] >> A spectacular eclipse of the sun at

[0:06] midday today. Highly visible across a

[0:09] big chunk of the American South.

[0:17] reported by Tom Brokoff.

[0:19] Good evening. It's easy to see why

[0:22] ancient civilizations were so terrified

[0:24] by a solar eclipse. Even today when we

[0:27] know so much about this phenomenon, it's

[0:29] still a very spooky experience. Today's

[0:32] near total eclipse was a spectacular

[1:36] >> After the few seconds of maximum

[1:37] eclipse, the beads caused by the sun's

[1:40] light shining through the moon's
