[0:56] last week we left off with a battle in
[0:58] heaven
[0:59] and michael the archangel prevailed over
[1:01] the dragon satan
[1:03] and satan was kicked out of heaven the
[1:05] accuser of the brethren no more
[1:08] we also talked about last week that
[1:10] happened during the middle of the
[1:11] tribulation
[1:12] period so now we're in verse number 13
[1:15] of revelation chapter number 12. now
[1:18] again
[1:19] let me get give you some insight to who
[1:22] we're talking about
[1:24] revelation chapter 12 the woman is
[1:27] referencing the nation of israel and so
[1:30] it's not a
[1:31] literal woman it's the nation of israel
[1:33] the man child
[1:35] that's referenced in revelation chapter
[1:37] 12
[1:38] is jesus christ the dragon the bible
[1:41] tells us in chapter 12
[1:43] is satan the stars that fell when the
[1:47] dragon's tale
[1:49] those are angels a third of the host of
[1:51] angels that fell with satan
[1:53] now remember this one-third fell
[1:57] two-thirds remain so for every one evil
[2:00] angel
[2:01] there are two good angels so just to
[2:04] encourage you today it may seem like
[2:06] satan's forces
[2:08] are large and having victory but they're
[2:11] outnumbered and they're going to lose
[2:14] now let's dive into our text today verse
[2:16] number 13.
[2:18] now when the dragon saw that he was cast
[2:20] unto earth
[2:21] he persecuted the woman which brought
[2:23] forth the man child
[2:25] and to the woman were given two wings of
[2:28] a great eagle
[2:29] that she might fly into the wilderness
[2:31] into
[2:32] her place where she is nourished for a
[2:35] time
[2:36] and times and half a time from the face
[2:39] of the serpent
[2:41] and the serpent cast out of his mouth
[2:43] water
[2:44] as a flood after the woman that he might
[2:47] cause her to be carried away of the
[2:49] flood
[2:50] and the earth helped the woman and the
[2:52] earth opened her mouth
[2:53] and swallowed up the flood which the
[2:55] dragon cast out of his mouth
[2:58] and the dragon was wrath with a woman
[3:00] and went to make war with a remnant of
[3:02] her seed
[3:04] which keep the commandments of god and
[3:06] have the testimony
[3:08] of jesus christ now again we reference
[3:12] the woman being israel the man child
[3:14] being christ
[3:16] and the dragon being the serpent
[3:19] the devil now as we continue on
[3:22] in our chapter today we find this
[3:25] very important truth that there is a
[3:29] place notice if you would in verse 14
[3:32] the woman were given two wings of a
[3:34] great eagle
[3:35] that she might fly into the wilderness
[3:38] into
[3:38] her place where she is nourished for a
[3:41] time
[3:42] times and a half a time from the face of
[3:45] the serpent
[3:46] and so there's a place prepared by god
[3:50] for the nation of israel to flee
[3:54] now you'll notice as it gives a
[3:56] description
[3:57] that she might fly into the wilderness
[4:00] did you know that from genesis to second
[4:03] chronicles
[4:04] 19 different wildernesses
[4:08] are referenced as a part of the jewish
[4:12] history now there are others as
[4:14] well as the old testament carries on
[4:17] but it's the wilderness now the
[4:19] wilderness here is a place of
[4:21] safety now there are a lot of places as
[4:24] i mentioned in the old testament called
[4:26] that
[4:27] but again i personally believe that the
[4:30] wilderness of
[4:31] edom is what god has prepared
[4:35] for the nation to flee into the
[4:37] wilderness of edom has a city
[4:39] called petra the greek word for petra
[4:42] means
[4:43] rock it's a 25 mile squared
[4:46] city and it can only be entered through
[4:49] a narrow gorge that is 18
[4:51] feet wide at its widest point
[4:55] now in the city of petra there are
[4:57] god-made and man-made
[4:59] caves formed by these people called
[5:02] the nepatians now the nepatians went
[5:05] into the caves
[5:07] and they even carved a five-storey
[5:11] building in the cave walls they started
[5:14] at the top
[5:16] and they worked their way down not only
[5:19] that
[5:19] the nephitians also built a 5 000
[5:23] seat coliseum now
[5:26] petra gets six to ten feet of snow per
[5:29] year and i'll come back to that in just
[5:31] a moment
[5:32] so this city of petra these rock cliffs
[5:35] we know in scripture it talks about
[5:37] multiple times then fleeing into the
[5:40] rocks
[5:41] and the finding safety in the rocks
[5:44] that's why i believe this is to be the
[5:46] city of petra
[5:48] also as they flee here
[5:51] it's petra is now part of the
[5:54] which was esau
[5:55] part of his land it's also in jordan
[5:58] there was a peach treaty i do not
[6:00] remember the year
[6:01] but there was a peace treaty which
[6:02] opened up the land of jordan to the
[6:04] nation of israel
[6:06] and they were able to fly and go into
[6:09] jordan to the city of petra
[6:11] in fact when that treaty was signed they
[6:14] opened up travel
[6:15] mills i believe the readings that i read
[6:18] was almost 10 times
[6:20] more tourist activity from the nation of
[6:23] israel than before
[6:24] and many of those people went to petra
[6:27] now it's interesting
[6:28] because in history we've discovered this
[6:31] that christians have been going in and
[6:33] hiding bibles in the caves in petra but
[6:36] also the muslims have been going in and
[6:38] removing the bibles
[6:40] as quickly as the christians have hidden
[6:42] them there
[6:43] now why are they hiding bibles there
[6:45] they're wanting the nation of israel to
[6:47] turn to god
[6:48] and so they have been hiding scriptures
[6:51] in the walls and in the caves of petra
[6:54] but as you look at it it's a great
[6:57] possibility that the city of petra
[7:00] is the place that god has prepared
[7:03] in matthew 24 verse number 20 it says
[7:06] this
[7:06] about their flight out of
[7:09] of of jerusalem when trouble sometimes
[7:13] will come they're leaving israel matthew
[7:15] 24
[7:16] 20 says but pray that your flight be not
[7:19] in
[7:19] winter neither on the sabbath day now
[7:22] matthew 24 is talking about the
[7:25] tribulation period the second coming
[7:27] of jesus christ has nothing to do with
[7:29] the rapture
[7:30] it's all tribulation second coming
[7:34] but it talks about their flight be not
[7:36] in winter as i mentioned to you petra in
[7:38] the winter time
[7:39] gets six to ten feet of snow
[7:43] six to 10 feet of snow per year can you
[7:45] imagine trying to come in
[7:47] through the cave the gorge there 18 foot
[7:50] wide at the widest point with all that
[7:53] snow
[7:54] stacked up on top of it also what's
[7:56] interesting
[7:58] this is just a side note if you were to
[8:00] go to the nation of israel today
[8:02] you could not fly in on a friday night
[8:05] or a saturday morning
[8:07] because an observance of the sabbath all
[8:09] flights are grounded in and
[8:12] out of israel friday night evening time
[8:15] through saturday morning time because
[8:17] they observed the sabbath day
[8:19] so it's interesting when matthew 24 20
[8:22] says
[8:22] neither that your flight be on the
[8:24] sabbath day
[8:26] it's interesting now the great eagle
[8:28] here
[8:29] all throughout scripture there are
[8:31] references to eagle and god's protection
[8:34] with the wings of an eagle that he might
[8:37] fly them in with us so
[8:38] symbolically it is the eagle's wings the
[8:42] protection of god
[8:43] god's got a plan he has not revealed his
[8:46] plan
[8:47] to satan he has not revealed his plan
[8:50] to john he has not revealed his plan yet
[8:53] to the nation of israel
[8:55] but god's got a place and god's got a
[8:57] plan
[8:58] to protect the nation of israel during
[9:00] this time in the tribulation period
[9:02] it's also worth noting that there's a
[9:05] stream a perennial stream that runs
[9:07] through petra
[9:08] and provides water there all the time as
[9:11] god
[9:12] would use that to give water to the
[9:15] nation
[9:16] during this time there are commentators
[9:18] that i've read that believe
[9:19] that possibly god could even send down
[9:22] manna once again
[9:24] and send manna down to petra for them to
[9:26] have food i don't know that personally
[9:29] i don't see that anywhere in scripture
[9:31] but i can tell you this
[9:33] god's got a plan to take care of his
[9:35] people
[9:36] you'll notice it says in that verse also
[9:39] that she is nourished for a time
[9:40] and times and half a time from the face
[9:43] of the servant now a time
[9:44] is one year times is two years
[9:48] and half a time is a half a year so one
[9:51] year
[9:52] plus two years plus a half a year equals
[9:55] three and a half years 1260 days
[9:59] 42 months and so god is
[10:02] protecting them now daniel chapter 7
[10:05] verse 25
[10:06] tells us and he shall speak great words
[10:08] against the most high
[10:09] and shall wear out the saints of the
[10:11] most high and think to change the times
[10:14] and laws and they shall be given into
[10:15] his hand until a time
[10:17] and times and the dividing of times now
[10:20] if you divide a time
[10:21] in half so we have time
[10:24] times and a half so daniel 7 25 so in
[10:27] this passage in revelation 12
[10:29] god is using language that he's used
[10:31] with the nation of israel
[10:33] in times past in prophetic language with
[10:36] the eagles
[10:37] and prophetic language with the
[10:38] wilderness and prophetic language with
[10:40] the times time and a half
[10:42] everything god's doing is centered
[10:43] around the nation of
[10:45] israel now you'll notice the serpent
[10:48] satan he cast out of his mouth water
[10:52] as a flood after the woman that he might
[10:54] cause her to be carried away
[10:56] of the flood so he's
[11:00] pouring out anything he can now we know
[11:02] in the middle of the week the
[11:03] abomination of desolation takes place
[11:05] we know in the middle of the week that
[11:08] the antichrist and the false prophet and
[11:10] the beast are doing everything they can
[11:11] to destroy the nation of israel it's all
[11:14] centered around
[11:15] destroying them so it would make logical
[11:17] sense
[11:18] that satan is at his highest point here
[11:21] pouring out
[11:22] everything he can against
[11:25] this group of people the nation of
[11:27] israel
[11:28] in isaiah 17 verses 12 through 14 the
[11:31] bible says this woe to the multitude of
[11:33] many people
[11:34] which make a noise like the noise of the
[11:36] sea and to the rushing of nations
[11:39] that make a rushing like a rushing of
[11:40] mighty waters
[11:42] the nations shall rush like the rushing
[11:45] of many waters
[11:47] but god shall rebuke them and they shall
[11:49] flee
[11:50] far off and shall be chased as the chaff
[11:52] of the mountains before the wind and
[11:54] like a rolling thing before the
[11:56] whirlwind
[11:57] and behold at evening tide trouble and
[11:59] before the morning
[12:00] he is not this is the portion of them
[12:03] that spoil us and a lot of them that rob
[12:05] us
[12:06] now many people believe different things
[12:08] about the flood
[12:10] here my personal belief again this is my
[12:13] personal belief of what i've studied and
[12:16] what i've read my personal belief is i
[12:18] believe this is a group
[12:19] of soldiers an army a flood of soldiers
[12:22] attacking and they're coming over
[12:26] into the land of petra petra is at a low
[12:28] point
[12:29] the dead sea backing that area the dead
[12:31] sea being the lowest point on earth
[12:34] i believe the eight the army is coming
[12:36] over into attack the nation of israel
[12:39] and in their attacking just as god did
[12:42] before to those who opposed his people
[12:46] we find here that the earth opens their
[12:48] mouth swallows up the flood
[12:50] which the dragon cast out of his mouth
[12:52] so the words of
[12:53] satan and good inciting violence against
[12:56] the nation of israel
[12:57] these people going together now you and
[12:59] i know for many many years
[13:02] there have been people against the
[13:04] nation of israel the anti-semite
[13:06] attitude the destruction that they
[13:08] wanted for the land of israel has been
[13:10] prevalent all throughout history and if
[13:13] you don't
[13:14] know that history you should go back and
[13:16] read history
[13:17] and you'll discover this history repeats
[13:20] itself
[13:21] if you fail to learn from history
[13:23] history will repeat itself
[13:25] so this nation this army comes against
[13:28] israel and in number 1632
[13:30] this is what god did to the enemies of
[13:33] the nation of israel this is what god
[13:34] did
[13:35] number 16 32 and the earth opened her
[13:38] mouth and swallowed them up
[13:39] and their houses and all the men that
[13:42] appertained unto korra
[13:43] and all their goods so this army is
[13:46] swallowed up
[13:47] now i can definitively tell you
[13:50] this is not the battle of armageddon in
[13:53] the battle of armageddon in revelation
[13:55] 19
[13:56] we know that though that army is slain
[13:59] by the sword of christ's mouth
[14:01] which we'll discuss in more detail later
[14:03] when we get to chapter 19.
[14:06] but it ends in chapter 17 the dragon was
[14:09] wroth with the woman and went to make
[14:11] war with the remnant of her seed
[14:13] which kept the commandments of god and
[14:15] have the testimony
[14:16] of jesus christ he's not defeated here
[14:18] satan is not defeated
[14:20] his army is defeated but he is not he
[14:23] still fights against the nation
[14:25] and all those that have accepted christ
[14:27] as their
[14:28] savior here in our text we conclude with
[14:31] this god's got a plan for the nation of
[14:33] israel
[14:34] god's got some preparation for israel
[14:36] he's got a place
[14:37] for israel he's got some protection for
[14:40] israel
[14:41] and even though satan will do everything
[14:43] he can
[14:44] he will not prevail against
[14:47] god's plan for the nation of israel
[14:50] so i encourage it revelation chapter 12
[14:54] god's got a great plan i look good at it
[14:57] and i believe it to be petra
[14:59] but there are others now you can have a
[15:00] differing opinion but this is what i
[15:02] believe and i shared with you why i
[15:04] believe it
