[13:23] chapter number four tonight Mark chapter

[13:26] number four last week we preached a

[13:29] message dealing with storms and we're

[13:31] going to have message number two dealing

[13:33] with storms from Mark chapter number

[13:36] four and we're again reading in verse

[13:38] number 35 and we'll read down to the end

[13:41] of the chapter uh verse 41 there so if

[13:44] you're able would you please stand in

[13:45] honor of the word of God as we read from

[13:48] Mark 4 tonight verses

[13:52] 35-41 we get to verses

[13:55] 35-41 Jesus has had a full day of

[13:59] ministry and we'll talk about it more

[14:01] here in just a

[14:02] moment but in verse 35 and the same day

[14:08] when even was come he saith unto them

[14:10] let us pass over unto the other side and

[14:14] when they had sent away the multitude

[14:16] they took him even as he was in the ship

[14:20] there were also with them other little

[14:22] ships and there arose a great storm of

[14:25] wind and the waves beat into the ship so

[14:29] that it was now

[14:30] full and he was in the hinder part of

[14:32] the ship asleep on a pillow and they

[14:35] awake him saith unto him Master carest

[14:39] thou not that we

[14:41] perish he arose and rebuked the

[14:46] wind and said unto the sea peace be

[14:51] still and the wind ceased and there was

[14:54] a great

[14:56] calb he said unto them why why are ye so

[15:01] fearful how is it that ye have no

[15:06] faith they feared exceedingly and said

[15:10] one to another what manner of man is

[15:13] this that even the wind and the Sea obey

[15:19] him sometimes in our life we go through

[15:24] storms tonight with the Lord's help we'd

[15:27] like to preach

[15:29] on other side

[15:32] storms other side storms you may be

[15:38] seated sometimes in our life we go

[15:42] through the word of God and we don't

[15:44] pause and consider all that's happening

[15:47] sometimes we get into a narrative and we

[15:49] just take it as it is and don't really

[15:53] consider all the stuff that's going on

[15:55] around

[15:56] it and in mark chapter

[16:00] 4 it's nearing the end of Jesus's day it

[16:03] says the same

[16:06] day and so when you go back and you look

[16:09] at what Jesus did on this day and you go

[16:12] and you look at the harmonies of the

[16:14] Gospel in Matthew Mark and Luke that

[16:17] record this day Jesus's day started with

[16:21] him casting out

[16:23] demons and the Pharisees saying that he

[16:26] had the power of be elub we see that in

[16:28] Mark chapter

[16:29] 3 and then the scribes and Pharisees

[16:32] came to him seeking a

[16:34] sign and there are uh some spiritual

[16:38] demons that are around that he has to

[16:41] deal with

[16:42] again later on in the day his family

[16:45] rejects him his mother and his brothers

[16:49] and he recognizes he says that his

[16:51] disciples are his

[16:53] family and then after that he begins the

[16:56] first of the Kingdom parables

[16:59] so he begins teaching all the multitude

[17:03] of people that's around and he begins

[17:06] with the Seer and he teaches on who the

[17:08] sewer the parable of the sewer and then

[17:11] the parable of the bushel and the

[17:14] Candlestick and then the parable of the

[17:16] seed the parable of the tears the

[17:20] parable of the Mustard Seed the parable

[17:23] of the leaven and the kingdom and then

[17:26] he explains the parable of the tears and

[17:29] then he teaches the parable of the

[17:31] treasure then he teaches the parable of

[17:33] the pearl of great price then he teaches

[17:37] the parable of the net and Compares it

[17:39] to the kingdom then he teaches the

[17:41] parable of the

[17:44] householder and after all

[17:47] that we get to where we're

[17:50] at the amazing thing is the day doesn't

[17:53] end in verse 41 he goes into chapter 5

[17:57] in chapter 5 he finishes the day casting

[17:59] out

[18:01] demons what a heavy

[18:03] day in fact Mark chap 4 is the only

[18:07] portion of scripture in the New

[18:08] Testament that it records Jesus

[18:12] sleeping no other we know that he slept

[18:15] at times but it's not recorded for us

[18:18] but here in Mark 4 we find him being

[18:21] tired and

[18:23] weary those of you that are teachers and

[18:26] teach all day it wears you out

[18:29] preachers that preach three or four

[18:31] times in a s in a Sunday it it's

[18:34] draining I listed for you a whole lot of

[18:36] Parables that he taught Miracles that he

[18:41] did it's no wonder he's

[18:44] tired in verse 35 the same day when even

[18:48] was come he saith unto them let us pass

[18:51] over unto the other

[18:55] side when they had sent away the

[18:57] multitude they took him even as he was

[19:00] in the ship there were also with him

[19:03] other Little

[19:06] Ships he takes off and he gets into the

[19:10] boat and he's going to go to the other

[19:14] side now the disciples are in for a boat

[19:17] ride of a

[19:19] lifetime now Jesus is going to take a

[19:23] nap that's why we sometimes joke on

[19:25] Sundays that Sunday is a saint day in

[19:28] between morning service and evening

[19:30] service is your time to be a saint

[19:33] Sunday afternoon is nap

[19:36] time one guy said you be like Jesus take

[19:40] naps and tried to use this passage for

[19:43] that but the disciples get into a

[19:47] boat and Jesus says let us pass over

[19:50] unto the other

[19:53] side they did not know what he

[19:57] knew they could not see what he

[20:00] saw but they got into the boat and the

[20:04] amazing thing is they experienced

[20:07] fisherman he gets in the boat and he

[20:10] trusts them

[20:11] enough to take a

[20:16] nap Jesus trusted the disciples enough

[20:20] that he put his head on a

[20:22] pillow and went to

[20:25] sleep so number one tonight

[20:30] the disciples they get in the boat they

[20:32] get in the ship they're taking them to

[20:33] the other side verse 37 there arose a

[20:36] great storm of

[20:41] wind we know the account here that's

[20:43] given to us number one thought tonight

[20:47] the other side of serving Jesus will

[20:53] sometimes be

[20:55] stormy in order for them to get to the

[20:57] other side where they needed to be where

[21:00] Jesus wanted them to be where Jesus was

[21:02] going to go and cast out demons and

[21:05] change a man's life for

[21:09] eternity was going to go through a

[21:11] storm so the other side of serving Jesus

[21:14] will sometimes be stormy other times

[21:17] they got in the boat and went to the

[21:18] other side and there was no

[21:20] storm but this time it was stormy the

[21:25] other side of serving Jesus will

[21:26] sometimes be stormy letter A

[21:29] weariness may be

[21:32] present you're going to do what God

[21:34] wants you to do you may sometimes get

[21:37] weary and the

[21:39] Jesus man side was

[21:44] weary weariness was

[21:48] present the letter be tonight Jesus is

[21:51] sending us writing with us growing with

[21:56] us through the other side side

[22:00] Journey the disciples are in the boat

[22:02] they're on their way to the other side

[22:05] and in the journey that they're

[22:07] taking his presence is near it's in the

[22:12] boat the presence of Christ on board

[22:16] does not guarantee a smooth

[22:20] passage if you're going to do what God

[22:22] wants you to do and sometimes Journey to

[22:24] the other

[22:25] side sometimes it's not smooth

[22:30] sometimes the presence of Christ on

[22:32] board he's on the

[22:34] ship and the waves were

[22:37] tossing the waves were sinking

[22:41] them but he's

[22:45] napping the presence of Christ on board

[22:48] does not guarantee a smooth passage he

[22:51] does not promise protection from the

[22:54] storm but his presence in the

[22:59] storm he does not promise protection

[23:02] from the storm but his presence in the

[23:06] storm he knew the weather forecast it

[23:09] didn't catch Jesus by

[23:12] surprise he knew the

[23:15] wind the waves they would

[23:18] face and he knew what his purpose was

[23:20] when he said let us pass over unto the

[23:23] other side now he had enough trust in

[23:25] them to take a nap

[23:28] but they didn't trust his word to go to

[23:30] the other

[23:31] side because the circumstances of life

[23:33] began to get difficult and

[23:38] hard so in verse 37 there arose a great

[23:42] storm of wind and the waves beat into

[23:47] the ship so that it was now

[23:52] full and he was in the hinder part of

[23:54] the ship asleep on a

[23:56] pillow they awake him him and say unto

[23:59] him

[24:00] Master carest thou not that we

[24:05] perish Master carest thou not that we

[24:09] perish now we know what their problem is

[24:11] they don't have faith they're battling

[24:14] fear so number two tonight in other side

[24:17] storms when fear and faith

[24:20] Collide call out to the

[24:23] master when fear and faith Collide call

[24:27] out

[24:29] to the

[24:30] master now here's the amazing thing the

[24:34] disciples are fearful the disciples are

[24:40] afraid but the storm had no Terror for

[24:45] Jesus they were terrified of the wind

[24:48] they were terrified of the waves and

[24:50] they were terrified of the water in the

[24:52] boat but didn't bother

[24:55] Jesus how can you be in a boat in a stor

[24:58] St with wind and waves and not feel the

[25:02] terror of the

[25:03] storm there's two things that I

[25:06] see number one he was in the father's

[25:11] care he was in the father's

[25:14] care Jesus pillowed his head trusting

[25:16] his disciples to steer steer the boat

[25:20] but he knew at the end of the day he's

[25:22] in the father's

[25:23] care he did not

[25:25] worry cuz he was in the father's care

[25:30] talking with brother Charlie Sunday

[25:32] night about Sunday school Sunday morning

[25:34] on worry in the adult class and my heart

[25:37] was

[25:38] stirred cuz sometimes we do struggle

[25:41] with worry do we

[25:43] not sometimes it gets

[25:48] heavy but we're in the father's

[25:51] care the storm had no Terror for him for

[25:54] he was in the father's care and number

[25:55] two he was doing the father's will

[25:59] he wanted him to go to the other side he

[26:02] had a plan on the other

[26:04] side and even the storm was terrifying

[26:07] to others it had no Terror for him

[26:11] because he was in the father's care

[26:14] doing the father's

[26:17] will also he was greater than the

[26:22] storm we see him rebuking the

[26:26] wind and saying unto the to see peace be

[26:31] still that's

[26:33] interesting sometimes you come across

[26:35] words and you pay attention to

[26:37] them the word here he

[26:40] rebuked the

[26:42] wind is an interesting

[26:46] phrase he said Peace to the sea but he

[26:50] rebuked the

[26:52] wind the Greek word that's there is used

[26:55] 23 times in the New Testament

[27:00] 16 of those times it is used when

[27:03] demonic forces are being rebuked by

[27:06] Jesus now in Ephesians chapter 2 verse

[27:10] number two we see that Satan is the

[27:14] prince and power of the

[27:20] air why did he need to rebuke the

[27:24] wind because the wind didn't come from

[27:27] him

[27:30] he allowed the

[27:31] wind but the prince and power of the air

[27:35] had influenced the storm which drove me

[27:38] to look for

[27:39] opportunities when Satan had used

[27:42] weather

[27:43] phenomenon to have an effect in people's

[27:46] lives and it drove me to the Book of Job

[27:50] chapter one and verse number 12 when

[27:54] Jesus granted Satan

[27:57] power to affect job's life and later on

[28:01] in the chapter we see that one of the

[28:04] tools that he used was a

[28:08] whirlwind to destroy part of job's

[28:12] family he used a whirlwind he sent the

[28:16] wind to bring destruction but I I got

[28:19] excited though when I read Ephesians

[28:22] 22 because it says he's the

[28:25] prince he's not the king he's just the

[28:29] prince in other words he can't do it

[28:31] unless God allows it nothing enters your

[28:35] life that hasn't crossed the desk of God

[28:38] so we find he's the prince in power

[28:40] there so he rebuked the wind but he said

[28:44] peace be

[28:49] still

[28:51] fear and

[28:53] faith

[28:55] cancel each other out

[29:00] if we have

[29:01] fear we have no faith but if we have

[29:08] faith we have no

[29:13] fear second Timothy 1:7 For God not

[29:16] given us the spirit of fear but of power

[29:19] and of love and of a sound

[29:23] mind when your faith and your fear

[29:26] collide

[29:29] they cancel each other

[29:31] out so make sure your faith is stronger

[29:34] than your

[29:35] fear so what happened is their Terror

[29:40] proved their lack of

[29:43] trust their terrified response to the

[29:46] storm they were

[29:48] in exemplified their lack of trust in

[29:53] the master of the

[29:55] sea cuz Jesus says to

[29:58] them in a way why who are excuse me why

[30:03] are you so fearful how is it you have no

[30:06] faith Jesus says why couldn't you trust

[30:09] me I said we're going to the other side

[30:13] why could you not trust

[30:16] me the sad part happens in verse 41 look

[30:19] at it if you

[30:21] would and they

[30:24] feared exceedingly

[30:28] what are they

[30:31] fearing what are they fearing now

[30:33] there's no more wind there's no more

[30:37] waves they're fearing

[30:40] Jesus they transferred Their Fear from

[30:43] their storm to their fear of the

[30:47] Savior

[30:50] wow how could that happen in a

[30:54] believer's life that they were fearful

[30:57] they said one another what manner of man

[30:58] is this that even the wind and the Sea

[31:01] obey him now if you remember in our

[31:04] introduction we talked about all the

[31:08] things that Jesus had done that day you

[31:12] remember casting out

[31:16] Devils giving signs to the

[31:19] scribes rejected by his family and all

[31:23] the Parables of the Kingdom he taught

[31:26] just who saw it

[31:28] all the

[31:34] disciples you can you can be under the

[31:38] greatest teacher Jesus

[31:40] Christ and still struggle with fear and

[31:44] faith because it is a

[31:47] battle to battle fear vers your faith

[31:50] they will cancel each other out so you

[31:52] need to

[31:53] exercise your faith

[31:58] number three

[32:00] tonight your

[32:02] storm or God's

[32:06] storm now we know in our

[32:09] text Jesus told him to go the other side

[32:12] Jesus knew the storm was coming the way

[32:14] he rebuked the wind it's my personal

[32:17] opinion that Satan saw Jesus sleeping

[32:19] and thought Now's the Time to get

[32:21] him so I'm going to stir up the wind

[32:25] you'll notice it's a storm of wind and

[32:27] the the storm of wind affected the

[32:30] waves and when the wind was rebuked and

[32:33] stopped the waves were

[32:38] peaceful but in our lives we must

[32:41] consider is it your storm or God's

[32:45] storm storms can be sent from

[32:49] God God can send storms into your

[32:54] life storms can also be allowed by God

[32:59] and delivered by the

[33:02] devil as our case in Mark chapter 4

[33:06] storms can be allowed by God and

[33:08] delivered by the devil but also number

[33:11] three today storms can be of our own

[33:15] creation of fear feelings and

[33:18] Disobedience to

[33:20] God sometimes the storms come because

[33:23] it's our own

[33:26] fault sometimes God allow ows it and

[33:29] it's delivered by the devil other times

[33:31] God sent

[33:33] it so if he sent the

[33:36] storm what does he want to do in the

[33:38] storm well he wants to bring

[33:41] peace to God appointed

[33:44] storms for the growth of our

[33:47] relationship with him did you listen to

[33:50] that he wants to bring peace to God

[33:54] appointed storms for the growth of our

[33:57] relation relationship with

[34:00] him but he wants to

[34:03] rebuke the devil and self-made storms to

[34:08] teach us about

[34:12] him now not all storms come to disrupt

[34:17] your

[34:18] life some come to clear your

[34:23] path not all storms come to disrupt your

[34:26] life some come to clear your

[34:31] path and in your life

[34:34] tonight God wants to take you to the

[34:36] other

[34:39] side sometimes that path to the other

[34:41] side is

[34:43] stormy it's

[34:46] difficult and sometimes weariness can be

[34:51] present but remember Jesus is sending us

[34:54] through the storm he's riding with us Us

[34:58] in the storm he's growing us through the

[35:02] storm and he wants to take us to the

[35:05] other

[35:07] side of the

[35:09] storm remind yourself the presence of

[35:12] Christ on board does not guarantee a

[35:17] smooth

[35:19] passage sometimes in our Christian Life

[35:22] you can be doing exactly what God wants

[35:24] you to do where he wants you to do it

[35:27] when he wants you to do it and still

[35:29] experience Rough

[35:34] Waters because God doesn't promise

[35:36] protection from

[35:38] storms but his presence in the

[39:08] knows that the Tempest is

[39:39] courage in these two things that Jesus

[39:55] will he's greater than the St

[40:00] Satan he rebuked the wind he said peace

[40:05] still and when your fear and your faith

[40:09] cancel each other

[40:20] pray in the midst of your storm

[40:26] pray and then trust in the Lord with all

[40:32] thine heart and lean not unto thine own

[40:36] understanding in all thy ways

[40:39] acknowledge Him and He Shall direct thy

[40:48] 2025 we get to the other side where the

[40:50] Lord may have us go it may be a stormy

[40:54] ride

[40:57] but the

[40:58] master is in the

[41:00] boat with us so take courage you're in

[41:05] the father's

[41:07] care and you're doing the father's will

[41:10] even if it's

[41:12] stormy it's just

[41:17] temporary and in case you've

[41:19] forgotten this world is not your home

[41:23] you're just passing through your

[41:26] Treasures are laid up somewhere beyond

[41:29] the

[41:29] blue the Angels beckon you from the

[41:32] Heaven's open Shore I can't feel at home

[41:37] in this world

[41:40] anymore but how about it

[41:48] life is it a god-appointed

[41:52] storm sometimes they

[41:54] are is it a storm that God's allowing

[42:46] and he wants to help us become more like

[43:00] wind and deal with us because of things

[43:05] done be sensitive to the still small

[43:09] voice of the Savior dear heavenly father

[45:30] in late last night and uh are just wore

[45:33] out from traveling all day and so as you

[45:36] know if you've ever taken a long trip it

[45:37] wears you out and so but they did text

[45:40] to say be thankful to the church for

[45:43] being prayerful for them they appreciate

[45:45] it and the other family appreciates it

[45:48] as well I continue to pray for the many

[45:51] requests that are in our church uh the

[45:54] cases and everything going on with Joe

[45:56] and P

[45:58] wind

[45:59] borns the whites Tim and Leah Rick

[46:03] Franklin recovering from his knee

[46:05] surgery um got a good report yesterday

[46:08] from my mom uh she got her Staples taken

[46:11] out yesterday her doctor put her on um a

[46:17] different type of therapy so instead of

[46:20] going to physical therapy every hour on

[46:23] the hour she has therapy exercises she

[46:25] does to do and so she's been doing that

[46:29] regularly and then they have a ice

[46:31] machine where they ice her knee and then

[46:32] she gets to rest for about 10 to 15

[46:34] minutes and then she's got to do it

[46:35] again and so she's been doing that but

[46:37] when she went she was able to get the

[46:40] bend flexion that they were wanting her

[46:42] to get I think it was 110 degrees that

[46:44] sound right Jen 110 degrees of Bend and

[46:47] then she was able to lay it down flat

[46:50] and so praise the Lord for that I think

[46:52] that's just two weeks after surgery so

[46:54] it's going really well so keep praying

[46:56] for her how many you know brother Jeff

[46:58] copes brother Jeff cops he's been here

[47:00] before preached for us um his

[47:03] father-in-law Pastor Chester Thrift um

[47:06] passed away this morning 84 years old

[47:09] brother Thrift uh was my mom's Pastor

[47:13] when she got saved and so we've known

[47:16] brother Thrift a long time but you pray

[47:17] for the thrift family H but also for the

[47:20] copes family Miss Pam cops by Jeff's

[47:23] wife and then there with her dad and

[47:26] with the family and they're getting

[47:27] Arrangements ready so be in prayer for

[47:29] them if you would uh we' greatly

[47:31] appreciate that so any prayer requests

[48:29] nervous about the surgery but she's in

[48:35] morning at 7:30 is her gallbladder or

[48:39] gallstone surgery all right any other

[49:22] because she's ready to get out of there

[49:25] and she'd rather be home but she's still

[50:36] ever get to talk to them they are pretty

[50:39] excited and very thankful for all of our

[50:41] Sunday school teachers who are devoting

[50:43] their time to teach them so be in prayer

[50:46] for their teachers this month and so

[50:50] also pray for the kids but also for the

[50:51] teachers the junior Church teachers

[50:53] preschool teachers during the second

[50:55] hour all of them so pray for for our

[50:56] children's ministry uh we're looking

[50:58] forward to exciting things for them so

[52:24] that are having updated test here done

[52:47] ministries Lord I'm thankful for the

[52:49] teachers who give it their time to study

[52:52] the word of God to prepare a lesson and

[52:55] to deliver that to their age group and

[52:58] their class and Lord that they're having

[53:00] an impact on them Lord I know we heard

[53:03] it on the bus Sunday as we recapped and

[53:06] many of them talking about what they

[53:07] learned in Sunday school and we're

[53:08] thankful for that Lord I pray tonight as

[53:11] we go our separate ways that you keep us

[53:13] safe Lord I pray that you'd bind Sai in

[53:16] keeping far from this place Lord that

[53:19] everything that happens over the next

[53:21] few days would bring Glory To You Lord

[53:27] that we'll be having where Church

[53:30] meetings and different special meetings

[53:32] Lord I pray you'd work in those
