[0:03] Troops and equipment stacked up all over
[0:05] Europe tonight. Bad weather in Bosnia.
[0:07] We'll give you the view from on high.
[0:10] From the Pentagon tonight, orders to
[0:12] expand the search worldwide for racism
[0:15] and hate groups in the US Army. Another
[0:18] kind of war at home, the war on drugs.
[0:20] New evidence for losing as teenager use
[0:23] is way up. And our American closeup, a
[0:26] soldier soldier. General Bill Nash, the
[0:29] man in charge of US troops in Bosnia, a
[0:32] big job.
[0:33] >> From NBC News, this is a special edition
[0:37] of NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokoff.
[0:40] Reporting tonight from Frankfurt.
[0:43] Good evening. The American military, the
[0:46] most powerful and sophisticated fighting
[0:48] force in history, met its match today.
[0:51] The weather in Europe, heavy fog in the
[0:53] mountain valleys of northeast Bosnia.

[1:03] is stalled right over Bosnia. There are
[1:06] no signs it will break up soon. Rail
[1:09] lines are in bad shape. The mountain
[1:11] roads into Tusla mean long, dangerous
[1:14] trips, especially for this many troops
[1:16] and heavy equipment. So, the advanced
[1:19] forces for the big buildup are stalled
[1:21] tonight. They're beginning to stack up
[1:24] all over Europe. We begin with NBC's Tom
[1:26] As.
[1:28] >> NATO planners knew Bosnia's winter might
[1:31] disrupt its mission, but fog and
[1:33] freezing temperatures have practically
[1:35] paralyzed it.
[1:37] Weather forecasters say there'll be more
[1:40] bad weather through the weekend. And
[1:42] after Monday, another storm system could
[1:44] make things worse. Uh $6
