[0:01] well as we reported earlier Hurricane

[0:04] Gloria is taking aim at the Carolina

[0:06] Coastline reporter Tim Lake joins us now

[0:10] live update from Wrightsville Beach

[0:12] North Carolina waiting tonight under the

[0:14] hurricane warning

[0:17] well Sally and Peter as you can see the

[0:19] the wind is picking up a little bit here

[0:20] we're getting gusts probably about 40

[0:22] miles an hour just about an hour and a

[0:25] half ago it started raining here it's

[0:26] been basically dry all the time but if

[0:29] you look behind me you can see that the

[0:31] surf is picking up tide is about five to

[0:34] ten feet above normal and we're getting

[0:36] some flooding at the end of Wrightsville

[0:38] Beach Wrightsville Beach is right next

[0:41] to Wilmington North Carolina and this is

[0:43] uh if you can remember about a year ago

[0:45] where Diana ripped through and people

[0:48] here are very aware of what a hurricane

[0:50] can do at eight o'clock this morning

[0:52] civil defense people on this island

[0:54] asked the people to evacuate and by two

[0:57] o'clock this afternoon some 4 000 people

[1:00] were gone from this island and it looks

[1:03] pretty much like a ghost town right now

[1:04] selling Peter except for us crazy

[1:06] reporters Tim what about the traffic I

[1:08] bet it's bumper to bumper right now

[1:10] uh traffic everybody's gone really uh

[1:13] most of the traffic is in the Wilmington

[1:15] area now and people trying to find

[1:16] hotels but this island has been

[1:18] virtually uh clean wiped clean since

[1:21] about two this afternoon when do you

[1:22] think it's going to hit one of the

[1:24] estimates there

[1:25] they're saying the glory if it's going
