[0:00] This is NBC Nightly News, Sunday, August
[0:03] 6th with Jessica Savage reporting from

[0:22] >> Good evening. Pope Paul V 6th, the
[0:25] leader of the Roman Catholic Church,
[0:26] died today. He was 80 years old. The
[0:29] Vatican says the Pope died of a heart
[0:31] attack at his summer home in Castell
[0:33] Gondalfo outside Rome. John Chancellor
[0:36] has a special report on the life of the
[0:37] 80-year-old Pontiff. But first, a report

[1:01] time now. It was learned only recently
[1:03] that during the kidnapping and murder of
[1:05] his close personal friend Aldo Morrow,
[1:07] he had to be given heart stimulants.
[1:09] Earlier in the year, he was bedridden
[1:10] with influenza and viral infections.
[1:14] Just yesterday, the Pope's personal
[1:15] physician ordered the Pontiff to bed for
[1:17] a complete rest because of a flare up in
[1:19] a recurring arthritic condition. It was
[1:22] that problem that kept him from
[1:23] delivering his usual Sunday blessing
[1:25] this morning. Later in the day, the Pope
[1:27] was receiving mass at his bedside when
[1:29] the heart attack came. After the heart
[1:32] attack, the
