[0:00] reliable. Oh,
[0:08] this is a CBS News special report.
[0:16] The president at the United Nations from
[0:20] CBS News headquarters in New York. Here
[0:22] is Bob Schaefer.
[0:24] >> And good morning. President Bush is
[0:27] about to make his fifth appearance
[0:29] before the United Nations General
[0:31] Assembly. More than 160 world leaders
[0:34] are here in New York for the opening
[0:35] session. There will be three days of
[0:37] meetings to talk about reforming the UN
[0:40] and fighting world poverty. This
[0:42] morning, the president will give them
[0:44] his view of the world, including his
[0:45] plan for spreading democracy in Iraq and
[0:48] beyond. There is widespread opposition
[0:51] among many of these world leaders, of
[0:52] course, to the war in Iraq, where the
[0:54] death toll continues to rise. Just
[0:57] today, one of the worst days ever in
[0:59] Baghdad, bombs and gunmen kill more than
[1:04] 150 people and wounded more than 500,
[1:07] most of them day laborers, in attacks in
[1:10] and around the city of Baghdad. Back in
[1:13] New York, the president will be
[1:14] introduced to the general assembly this
[1:16] morning by the secretary general of the
[1:18] UN, Kofi Annan. He is speaking right
[1:21] now. For more on what we can expect the
[1:24] president to say, we want to call in our
[1:26] CBS News chief White House
[1:28] correspondent, John Roberts. John, uh,
[1:30] what's the president going to tell us
[1:31] this morning?
[1:32] >> Uh, good morning, Bob. A lot of what the
[1:33] president will say this morning will be
[1:35] what you would expect him to say to the
[1:37] United Nations. He'll talk about Iraq.
[1:39] He'll talk about global threats
[1:40] including terrorism, nuclear
[1:42] proliferation. He'll talk
