[0:08] about his record.
[0:10] John McCain's about-face on George Bush
[0:13] wins him boos at the alternative
[0:16] convention.

[0:31] >> This is the CBS Evening News.
[0:35] With Dan [music] Rather reporting from
[0:37] the Republican National Convention in
[0:39] Philadelphia.
[0:42] >> Good evening from the city of brotherly
[0:43] love and the cradle of freedom. The

[1:07] dogged by questions about what Newt
[1:09] Gingrich says is his very conservative
[1:11] voting record in the Congress. Cheney
[1:14] says he might vote differently today on
[1:16] some issues. Abortion rights is not
[1:19] among them. Republican delegates here
[1:21] and George Bush himself out on the road
[1:23] are playing from the same script.
[1:25] Accentuate warm and fuzzy. No
[1:27] ad-libbing, please, and no controversy.
[1:30] Against that backdrop, CBS's Bill
[1:31] Whitaker is covering Governor Bush's
[1:33] pre-convention barnstorm through key and
[1:36] closely contested states, including
[1:38] today's stops in Ohio.
