[0:00] Jeff Gianola and Julie Emory. Week
[0:02] nights on [music] Coin 6 News.
[0:06] >> Fizz or fizzle. Last minute sales may
[0:09] put the bubble back in the economy. The
[0:12] president's apparent double standard for
[0:14] the axis of evil. Threats and silence.
[0:17] Iraq plays a name game in the UN weapons
[0:20] search. And questions multiply about the
[0:22] clone claim from a farout cult.
[0:31] This [music] is the CBS Evening News
[0:35] with Salia Shurus.
[0:37] >> Good evening everyone. [music] With only
[0:39] a few days left until the new year,
[0:41] President Bush in his weekly radio
[0:43] address today outlined a road map for
[0:45] 2003 while claiming a number of
[0:47] accomplishments over the last 12 months.
[0:50] Topping his list, the war on terrorism
[0:52] and sustained pressure on Iraq to

[0:57] Bush claimed credit for improvements in
[0:58] the faltering economy and promised
[1:00] sustained economic growth. We begin on

[1:05] the economy is fairing. Here's Jim
[1:07] Aosta.

[1:12] new year, consumers are putting some
[1:15] fizz in an economy that's been a bit
[1:18] flat.
[1:18] >> Will they drink a $100 bottle of wine?
[1:21] Maybe not. Maybe it'll be a $20. Maybe
[1:24] it'll be a $40. The wine and champagne
[1:26] industry has something to toast. Its
[1:28] sales are on the rise. But while Bubbly
[1:31] is booming, holiday shopping has dropped
[1:34] just about anywhere else. They've seen
[1:36] their nest egg shrink. So of the income
[1:38] that they do get, they're spending a
[1:41] little bit less and saving a little bit
[1:43] more.
[1:44] >> It's a lonely bright spot like strong
[1:46] home
