[0:02] A CBS News investigation breaks the
[0:04] story. New evidence Firestone and Ford
[0:08] knew about dangerous tires long before
[0:11] they say they did.
[0:13] New revelations, how Hollywood uses
[0:16] children to test market violence. And
[0:19] wait till you hear what this woman has
[0:21] to do to pay for prescription drugs.
[0:24] Eye on America, giving credit where
[0:27] credit is long overdue.
[0:34] This is the CBS Evening News with Dan
[0:37] Rather reporting from CBS News
[0:39] headquarters in New York.
[0:42] Good evening. There is new trouble
[0:43] tonight for Firestone and Ford. Saudi
[0:45] Arabia has just banned the import of all
[0:48] Firestone tires. And court documents
[0:51] obtained by a CBS hard news
[0:53] investigation raise new serious
[0:55] questions about what both companies knew
[0:58] and what they claim they knew and when
[1:01] about potentially dangerous tire
[1:03] problems. CBS's Sharyl Attkisson has
[1:05] been digging behind the company's
[1:07] testimony into the evidence and has
[1:09] exclusive new information.
[1:12] CBS News has obtained documents held
[1:14] secret for more than 2 years in a
[1:16] Brunswick, Georgia federal courthouse.
[1:18] Today a judge granted a motion initiated
[1:21] by CBS News to unseal the documents.
[1:24] They show both Ford and Firestone knew
[1:26] about problems with ATX tires at least 2
[1:29] years before they were recalled. The
[1:31] documents are from the case of Danny Van
[1:33] Eaton who died after a Firestone tire
[1:36] shredded on his Ford Explorer.
[1:38] The officer said he did a magnificent
[1:40] job getting it off the road.
[1:43] You know, pulling and he almost had it
[1:44] off the road. He didn't hit either side
[1:46] of the street.
[1:48] And then it just flipped.
