[18:55] uh looking forward to our annual

[18:59] so that'll be happening next Sunday

[19:03] well Nehemiah chapter 1 if you're able

[19:06] of God we're going to read the first 11

[19:08] verses of Nehemiah chapter number

[19:15] one Bible says the words of Nehemiah the

[19:18] son of hackelia came to pass in the

[19:20] month chiso in the 20th year as I was in

[19:23] shushen the palace that haniah one of my

[19:27] brethren came he and certain men of

[19:29] Judah and I asked them concerning the

[19:31] Jews that had escaped which were left of

[19:34] the Captivity and concerning

[19:37] Jerusalem they said unto me the remnant

[19:40] that are left of the Captivity there in

[19:43] the province are in great Affliction and

[19:47] reproach the wall of Jerusalem also is

[19:50] broken down the gates thereof are burned

[19:54] with fire and came to pass when I heard

[19:57] these words

[19:59] that I sat down and wept and mourned

[20:03] certain days and fasted and prayed

[20:07] before the god of heaven and said I

[20:10] beseech thee Oh Lord God Of Heaven the

[20:15] Covenant and mercy for them that love

[20:22] Commandments let thine ear now be

[22:36] word may go forth Lord I pray that you'd

[22:39] speak to our hearts today challenge us

[22:42] from your word Lord if there's someone

[22:44] here today that does not know you as

[22:46] Savior May today be their day of

[22:49] salvation Lord in your name I pray amen

[22:52] thank you for standing you may be

[22:55] seated in Nehemiah chapter number one

[23:00] Nehemiah has been in Persia captivity

[23:03] he's in the The Winter Palace which is

[23:06] in the southern part of

[23:08] Iran and he's there with Artic Xerxes

[23:11] the king under the Persian

[23:15] Empire and it's been about 90 years

[23:18] since the first group of captives went

[23:20] back it's been about 14 years since Ezra

[23:23] the scribes gone back and became the

[23:25] governor of the

[23:27] region and neiah is in his service to

[23:31] the King of Persia as a servant he's the

[23:34] cup Bearer which means usually people

[23:36] who were the cup bearers were of a a p

[23:41] person who they would look at as

[23:43] favorable to be in the presence of the

[23:46] king they would look at them as a NIC

[23:49] looking person many of them were well

[23:52] articulated could able to communicate

[23:55] well and Nehemiah is there

[24:23] question in verse number

[24:25] two concerning the Jews that had escaped

[24:29] which were left to the

[24:30] Captivity and concerning

[24:35] Jerusalem now if you've been in the word

[24:37] of God any length of time you've looked

[24:38] in

[24:39] Nehemiah and you've probably heard

[24:41] messages preached about Nehemiah and the

[24:44] construction project of building the

[24:47] walls and sometimes we can read over a

[24:50] passage of scripture and not really

[24:52] pause give it much thought really

[24:56] consider all that's taking place

[24:59] place so he asked about the people

[25:02] first and then he asked him about

[25:05] Jerusalem

[25:07] second verse three this is what they

[25:10] said the remnant the people that are

[25:13] left of the

[25:15] Captivity there in the province are in

[25:18] great

[25:19] Affliction and

[25:21] reproach the people are in great

[25:24] Affliction and reproach and as you study

[25:27] through Nehemiah there are enemies and

[25:29] adversaries that are working against

[25:31] those that are there they're in a

[25:33] desperate situation and next Sunday when

[25:35] we get into chapter two even more we'll

[25:39] see the the the tear down of the city

[25:41] and the destruction that's there in

[25:43] somewhat of an apathy that came across

[25:46] the people as they saw it day after day

[25:49] after day after day the destruction of

[25:53] the city of Jerusalem and yet they did

[25:55] not take

[25:57] action Z rubbable had gone back years

[25:59] previously and had started the project

[26:01] of rebuilding the temple and they had

[26:03] rebuilt the temple but it was not what

[26:06] it was under Solomon's day when Babylon

[26:09] came in and destroyed the land and took

[26:11] him into captivity they had destroyed

[26:13] Solomon's templed and carried out many

[26:15] of the things there and zerubabel had

[26:17] rebuilt it but it wasn't the same it

[26:20] wasn't like it used to

[26:22] be and there were people in the book of

[26:25] Hagi complaining because it wasn't like

[26:28] it used to be even though they never saw

[26:31] what it used to

[26:33] be there were people in the book of Hagi

[26:36] complaining that it was not like

[26:38] Solomon's and they were not old enough

[26:40] to have seen

[26:44] Solomon's it's kind of like people who

[26:46] complain today that it's not like it

[26:47] used to be in our

[26:49] world but they don't know what it used

[26:51] to be

[26:52] like and sometimes we can get so

[26:55] discouraged can we not as we see the

[26:58] people in this world and the situation

[27:01] of our land the situation of this

[27:05] world and we can get kind of

[27:09] discouraged and we can almost get an

[27:11] apathetic

[27:13] Spirit of seeing it day after day after

[27:19] day I did a study just this

[27:23] morning I I combed over social media for

[27:26] 30 minutes this morning

[27:29] looking for posts from people excited

[27:31] about being in church

[27:34] today but you know what the overwhelming

[27:37] post that I saw today was the ban of

[27:40] tick

[27:41] tock more people posted today about the

[27:45] ban of tick tock than they did about

[27:47] being in church today and being in God's

[27:50] house or talking about the word of God

[27:53] there were screenshot after screenshot

[27:55] after screenshot about the ban of tick

[27:58] talk but yet there are people that say

[28:00] they're going to church this morning

[28:02] didn't talk about hey I'm excited to be

[28:04] in God's house today I'm excited I've

[28:06] been praying this morning for God to

[28:08] work in a mighty way no none of those

[28:09] things but there's the ban of Tik

[28:12] Tok and in our world if we're not

[28:14] careful we'll get caught up in the dis

[28:17] the distress and the discouragement and

[28:19] the apathy of this world and the

[28:21] sinfulness of

[28:25] it and we won't respond like

[28:27] tenderhearted

[28:30] Nehemiah I've entitled the message today

[28:33] let's be tenderhearted like

[28:36] Nehemiah so I want you to look what

[28:39] happens said un me the remnant that are

[28:42] left of the

[28:43] Captivity there in the province are in

[28:46] great

[28:48] Affliction and

[28:50] reproach then he said the wall of

[28:53] Jerusalem also is broken down and the

[28:57] gates thereof are

[28:58] burned with

[29:00] fire now more than likely Nehemiah has

[29:03] not been

[29:05] there the first wave of captivity was in

[29:09] 605 this is

[29:11] 444 he may not have ever journey to

[29:14] Jerusalem we don't have't recorded that

[29:16] he's been there before but he's got a

[29:19] passion about the people that are there

[29:22] and he's got a desire about his homeland

[29:25] where his family's from and when he

[29:28] hears about the

[29:30] people and when he hears about the

[29:33] city he responds in verse number four it

[29:37] came to pass when I

[29:40] heard these

[29:42] words that I sat

[29:44] down wept and

[29:47] mourned certain

[29:49] days and fasted and prayed before the

[29:54] god of Heaven

[29:58] chapter two he arrives at the

[30:01] city chapter one he's just heard about

[30:04] it and hearing about people in reproach

[30:09] and people that he cares about facing

[30:12] adversarial attack and people that are

[30:15] in a discouraging State when he hears

[30:19] it it affects

[30:22] him when you hear about the

[30:26] world does it affect

[30:31] you when you hear about people slipping

[30:34] out into

[30:35] eternity and possibly dying and spending

[30:38] eternity in hell does it affect

[30:41] you does it bother

[30:47] you some of you have

[30:50] a practice of still getting the

[30:54] newspaper the only reason you really get

[30:56] the newspaper is so you can look in the

[30:58] obituaries to see if your name's

[31:01] there but no

[31:04] we I subscribe to a digital subscription

[31:07] of our local Town

[31:12] paper when you see

[31:14] people you hear of people going out into

[31:18] eternity what does it do to

[31:24] you when you hear about unsaved

[31:26] people

[31:28] dying what does it do to

[31:34] you we're at the church planning

[31:36] conference this past week there a

[31:39] particular Church planner was trying to

[31:42] get some funds to get a piece of

[31:47] property and they had made an offer on

[31:50] this

[31:53] property and they got a call as they

[31:56] were heading into their their meeting in

[31:58] a community center that as they were

[32:00] heading into service they got a call

[32:01] from the realister saying someone else

[32:04] has made a greater

[32:05] offer so in their service that morning

[32:08] they begin to pray that God would

[32:09] intervene and God would

[32:12] help after church that night they got a

[32:15] call back from the realtor and said they

[32:19] took your offer even though it was less

[32:26] money the next day he had opportunity

[32:29] what had happened is the lady had passed

[32:31] away her family had decided to sell the

[32:35] property they were going to split it up

[32:38] be amongst the four remaining

[32:41] children he went in to talk with the

[32:44] family this is what the family said Mom

[32:48] hated

[32:51] God but we wanted to see a church

[32:55] there so we took your offer

[33:00] when I heard the story I was

[33:03] excited they got opportunity to build a

[33:05] church building there God had provided

[33:07] for it and my heart was instantly

[33:11] grieved because there's a lady who used

[33:13] to live on that property that hated

[33:16] God and is probably more than likely

[33:18] spending eternity in

[33:21] Hell Lamentations chapter 3 tells us

[33:24] mine eye affected mine heart but

[33:27] sometimes our ears can

[33:30] too Nehemiah

[33:33] hears he hears a situation in the land

[33:36] it affects him in such a

[33:38] way that he sits

[33:42] down he

[33:44] weeps and he

[33:47] Mourns then he fasted and prayed before

[33:51] the god of Heaven now you remember at

[33:52] verse number 11 we read he's the king's

[33:55] cup

[33:56] Bearer and every day he's in the

[33:59] presence of AR Xerxes the king if

[34:02] anybody had power to help it have been

[34:05] art xeres they were the PowerHouse of

[34:08] the

[34:09] day but Nehemiah felt it was more

[34:12] important to go to the god of Heaven in

[34:15] fasting and praying then to go right to

[34:18] Art EX Xerxes and ask now some of you

[34:20] know the rest of the story you know what

[34:22] happens in chapter

[34:25] 2 in chapter 2 verse one it came to pass

[34:28] in the month Nan in the 20th year of art

[34:32] exer Nan's the month of

[34:36] April December through April he's

[34:41] praying and he's

[34:43] fasting for God to work for God to do

[34:47] something and for God to give him favor

[34:50] as the end of verse 11 in the sight

[34:52] Grant him Mercy in the sight of this man

[34:55] talking about AR exer he's praying and

[34:57] asking God as Only God Can to do

[35:00] something for the people in the land and

[35:03] he prays for four months day after day

[35:07] and recorded here in verse number five

[35:09] through verse number 11 is a powerful

[35:12] prayer and I believe if you and I want

[35:14] to have a tender heart like Nehemiah we

[35:17] ought to pray like Nehemiah look at

[35:19] verse number five and said I beseech

[35:22] thee Oh Lord God Of Heaven the great and

[35:25] terrible God that keepeth the Covenant

[35:27] and mercy for them that love him and

[35:31] observe his Commandments let thine ear

[35:34] now be attentive and Thine Eyes Open

[35:36] that thou mayest hear the prayer of thy

[35:41] servant which I pray before thee now

[35:45] day and

[35:47] night if you want to have a tender heart

[35:50] about the people in your world the

[35:53] people in your sphere of influence the

[35:55] people you work with the people that are

[35:58] in your family if you want to have a

[36:00] tender heart towards them it's not a

[36:02] one-day

[36:05] prayer it's not a one- Day prayer it has

[36:08] got to be a continual season in your

[36:12] life of praying for

[36:15] them you say well God hasn't done it yet

[36:18] don't quit

[36:20] praying keep praying if you're going to

[36:23] have a tender heart like Nehemiah you

[36:25] got to pray day and night

[36:28] now look what he prayed

[36:30] for he said I prayed for those the

[36:33] children of Israel thy servants and

[36:35] confess the sins of the children of

[36:39] Israel which we have sinned against thee

[36:42] both I and my father's house have sinned

[36:47] the first step in being a tender-hearted

[36:49] individual about people when you hear

[36:52] about the situation of the land and the

[36:54] distress that they're in Step number one

[36:57] is to make sure your heart's

[36:59] clean you can't pray for others with a

[37:02] dirty

[37:05] heart you got to make sure your heart's

[37:07] clean it says that he confessed his sins

[37:11] and their sins he's concerned about

[37:15] people and the first thing he's

[37:16] concerned about is they're

[37:18] Sinners we got to realize all have sin

[37:22] and come short of the glory of God

[37:23] everybody in here is a

[37:25] sinner now some of us get the joy of

[37:28] being saved Sinners I'm thankful for the

[37:31] time of Salvation in my life that I'm a

[37:33] saved

[37:35] sinner but I still struggle with sin

[37:37] even though I'm saved just because you

[37:40] get saved doesn't mean you're going to

[37:41] stop sinning but you should start

[37:44] sinning less often now that you're

[37:48] saved but we find here that he confesses

[37:52] in his prayer he confesses his sin he

[37:55] confesses their sin before God

[37:58] because it's against God when we sin the

[37:59] word sin means to miss the

[38:02] mark everybody's a

[38:06] sinner was talking with a pastor

[38:10] yesterday I've been working on a

[38:13] individual that's been visiting their

[38:14] church trying to talk to them about the

[38:16] Lord went through the whole Plan of
