[0:15] You [music] are watching CBS News
[0:17] continuing coverage of Showdown in the
[0:19] Gulf. From CBS News headquarters in New
[0:22] York, [music] here is Dan Rather.
[0:26] Deeper we go into day two of the Gulf
[0:28] War. Here are among the storylines of
[0:30] the hour. The US loses another war
[0:32] plane, its second officially and the
[0:34] Allies fifth officially. Iraq hits
[0:37] Israel with eight conventional warhead
[0:39] Scud missiles. No Israeli retaliation
[0:42] yet, but neighbor Jordan goes on its
[0:45] highest military alert. Another wave of
[0:48] Allied war plananes blasts Iraq, hitting
[0:50] back for the Scut attack on Israel.
[0:52] USF-16s took off from their bases in
[0:55] Saudi Arabia to carry out President
[0:57] Bush's order to hit Iraqi targets again.
[1:00] Mr. Bush gave the order to retaliate for
[1:02] Iraq's missile attack against Israel.

[1:11] tonight, but only a dozen minor injuries
[1:14] are reported, and it turned out that
[1:15] none of the Saddam Hussein missiles were
[1:18] tipped with any chemical warheads. This
[1:21] is typical of the damage that was caused
[1:23] by those Scud missiles. In Washington,
[1:26] Israel's ambassador said his country had
[1:28] warned that Saddam Hussein was capable
[1:30] of such a move. We knew that this was a
[1:34] calculated risk.
[1:39] We have now
[1:41] unfortunately
[1:44] been forced to give the proof
[1:46] that this actually happened.
[1:50] Iraq uh Israel's chief of staff, the
[1:52] chief of the Israeli military staff says
[1:54] the Iraqi attacks warrant an Israeli
[1:56] response, but so far there is no sign
[1:59] tha
