[0:03] >> Good evening. This is the CBS Evening
[0:05] News. Dan Rather reporting. President
[0:07] Reagan and his aids had another
[0:09] explanation today for their arms to the
[0:11] Ayatollah deal. This time they said
[0:13] perhaps $30 million in money from the
[0:16] secret sale was laundered through Swiss
[0:18] banks, then sent to Contra rebels in
[0:21] Central America. This may have been
[0:23] illegal. President Reagan says he was
[0:26] not informed, didn't know all that was
[0:28] going on. He forced two White House

[0:59] there was a part of the Iran deal he
[1:01] hadn't known about.
[1:02] >> I was not fully informed on the nature
[1:04] of one of the activities undertaken in
[1:06] connection with this initiative. This
[1:08] action raises serious questions of
[1:10] propriety. Did
[1:11] >> you make a mistake in sending arms to
[1:13] Tyrron, sir?
[1:14] >> No. And I'm not taking any more
[1:16] question.
[1:17] >> The president then left it to Attorney
[1:18] General Me to drop the bombshell.
[1:21] Certain monies which were received in
[1:24] the transaction between representatives
[1:27] of Israel and representatives of Iran
