[10:48] anything else when Dr Jack KES gave that

[10:50] invitation it was very clear to me that

[10:52] God's will for my life was to be in

[10:53] full-time Christian Service uh the video

[10:56] is going to tell you that I enrolled in

[10:57] H Anderson College in September of 20 I

[10:59] graduated in January of5 with a

[11:01] bachelor's of Science and missions uh

[11:03] for me two big things number one I'd

[11:05] only been saved for a little over a year

[11:07] when I went to Bible College and then

[11:09] number two I graduated single so I was

[11:11] not ready I was not prepared for

[11:13] anything but um uh my wife uh I did not

[11:16] even meet her until

[11:18] 2018 and we got married in 2019 five and

[11:21] a half months later because I knew what

[11:22] I wanted by then uh and she was

[11:24] definitely it uh her testimony very

[11:27] briefly is she's missionary Mark

[11:28] Bachman's old daughter so she was born

[11:31] into a missionary's home she was born in

[11:33] Germany she was raised in Germany as a

[11:35] matter of fact the way her dad did fow

[11:37] was every five years he' come to the

[11:39] United States for six weeks so when she

[11:42] turned 18 on her 18th birthday she came

[11:44] to the United States but she had only

[11:45] been there about two or three times in

[11:47] her entire life so it was a bit of an

[11:48] adjustment for her uh born into a good

[11:51] solid Christian home she got saved at a

[11:52] young age baptized at a young age uh

[11:55] taught how to be a soul owner at a young

[11:56] age was homeschooled and if you know

[11:58] anything about Germany

[11:59] uh the laws in place that was a battle

[12:01] she they had to appear before the German

[12:03] Supreme Court three different times

[12:05] because her dad refused to put her into

[12:07] the public uh school system there and

[12:10] God was very good to them and God worked

[12:11] on his heart to transition from being a

[12:13] missionary to Germany to uh being a

[12:15] missionary in a I'll just call it a

[12:16] Middle Eastern country where he's been

[12:18] for the last 10 years so he's been a

[12:19] missionary for 30

[12:21] years uh 20 in Germany and then 10 in

[12:24] this Middle Eastern country when he came

[12:26] to the United States uh for a brief

[12:27] period of time he taught at h College my

[12:29] wife was his secretary when he got when

[12:31] he left to go to that Middle Eastern

[12:33] country she didn't join him she went to

[12:35] Ron o Baptist Church of Ron Oak Indiana

[12:37] which was pastored by her grandfather

[12:39] for 33 years and uh she taught in the

[12:42] Christian School over there and uh uh as

[12:45] pastored Now by a man my name of Mike

[12:47] tar um her her grandfather is still

[12:50] there as Pastor am merus doing a good

[12:51] work there reaching people for Christ

[12:53] but uh we met in 2018 married 2019 Lord

[12:57] has blessed we've had a child every year

[12:58] so

[12:59] uh our daughter Karina is h four she's

[13:02] right there our son Barrett is three

[13:05] there he is I don't think they're here

[13:06] but my son Henry is two our son Alex is

[13:09] one and uh you know new year new child

[13:12] so we're expecting it end in December so

[13:14] y'all pray for us CU we're going on

[13:15] deputation with four kids that are four

[13:16] years of age and younger and if you've

[13:19] ever been on a road trip with one or two

[13:20] kids for one or two hours you can kind

[13:22] of empathize a little bit of what it

[13:23] might be for us uh let me tell you this

[13:26] about the video real quick it's a bit

[13:28] out of date it's going to say that

[13:30] Nigeria is home to 213 million people at

[13:34] this point in time Nigeria is home to

[13:35] 235 million people it's going to say

[13:38] it's the seventh most populated country

[13:40] in the world at this point it's the

[13:41] sixth what's even more sad to me is the

[13:43] fact that staticians that predict

[13:45] population growth the same people that

[13:47] predicted India was going to surpass

[13:49] China in population those exact same

[13:51] people say in Nigeria by the year 2050

[13:53] will double its population and tie the

[13:56] United States as the third most

[13:57] populated country in the world

[14:00] but geographically speaking they're the

[14:01] sides of Texas and Oklahoma put together

[14:04] so if you could just stop for a moment

[14:06] imagine what would America be like if

[14:08] everybody only lived inside Texas and

[14:10] Oklahoma you got an idea of how compact

[14:12] together they

[14:13] are uh we were there from January 27 to

[14:16] April 27 we were there for three months

[14:19] and I can tell you this that 44% of

[14:21] their population almost half of their

[14:22] population is 14 years of age and

[14:24] younger they have the lowest life

[14:26] expectancy of any country in the entire

[14:28] world the average Nigerian does not live

[14:30] past 53 uh during our time there my wife

[14:33] and I we saw a lot of people saved uh

[14:35] and uh God gets all the glory and honor

[14:36] for that but it's wide open over there

[14:38] as an adult man in the United States I

[14:40] do not feel comfortable in the least

[14:42] going up to a child in a public place

[14:44] whether it be a park or wherever and

[14:46] just start witnessing to them it's not

[14:48] appropriate in our culture it is

[14:49] appropriate over there as a matter of

[14:50] fact it's encouraged there's adults so

[14:53] it say go over to that that because it's

[14:54] obvious that we're not from that area

[14:56] and they'll say go over to that man and

[14:57] ask him why he's here and if you start

[14:59] witnessing to him that would make them

[15:01] so happy it's wide open over there the

[15:03] public schools are open over there you

[15:04] can preach a gospel in the public

[15:06] schools it's it's amazing how open it is

[15:09] uh veteran missionary David masy has

[15:11] been in Nigeria at this time uh 20 uh 30

[15:14] years video is going to say 28 but at

[15:16] this point it's 30 um and we arrived in

[15:19] the country about 11 hours shy of the

[15:21] 28th anniversary and on that anniversary

[15:24] service they had 817 in attendance 171

[15:29] first time visitors 68 people got saved

[15:31] in the service and six people got

[15:33] baptized he has no assistant pastor he

[15:36] has no co-pastor he has a Bible

[15:37] Institute where he'll train people for

[15:39] the ministry but so far even if they

[15:41] joined his staff temporarily uh they've

[15:43] gone out to start their own independent

[15:44] work uh brother masi has been used to

[15:47] the Lord to start 10 different

[15:48] Independent Baptist churches in Nigeria

[15:50] and what my wife and I are doing we're

[15:51] doing the same thing we're raising

[15:52] support to work alongside of him for a

[15:54] period of time before we start our own

[15:56] independent work which would be a soul

[15:58] oneing uh

[15:59] discipleship uh Independent Baptist

[16:01] Church uh we do want to start an

[16:03] orphanage at some point that's not why

[16:04] we're going we're there we're going

[16:06] there to start churches but at some

[16:08] point it'll be a Ministry of the church

[16:09] at a later date and uh the Lord has

[16:12] tremendously blessed our deputation uh

[16:14] at this point in time we've already had

[16:15] our Visa interviews we put January 23rd

[16:18] as the date that we're leaving so we're

[16:20] less than three months away from being

[16:22] back in Nigeria uh don't to be working

[16:25] uh with brother masty and I can tell you

[16:27] um we have worked really hard uh we were

[16:30] there for the 28th anniversary and we

[16:32] want to be there for the 30th

[16:33] Anniversary if we leave on the 23rd

[16:36] that's going to get us there for the

[16:37] 30th Anniversary so if you take one of

[16:38] our prayer cards and you want to know

[16:39] what to pray for them about pray for our

[16:41] safety as we travel pray for our health

[16:43] you know we really don't get sick days H

[16:45] and pray that we could raise our support

[16:46] we greatly would appreciate it let me

[16:48] just speak to you from my heart for

[16:49] about one

[16:50] minute um we financed the trip to

[16:53] Nigeria ourselves we took we had one

[16:55] supporting Church um our church took up

[16:59] a love offering as well for us to help

[17:00] def phas some of the cost but we paid

[17:01] for the planing tickets we didn't have a

[17:04] regular employment income for three

[17:05] months and I can tell you that's word

[17:07] the Lord knit our heart if it was up to

[17:09] me we'd be there right now uh but um

[17:12] brother masty said when I was getting

[17:14] advice from him that it took him three

[17:15] years of deputation then he said don't

[17:16] worry about that that was 30 years ago

[17:19] things have changed it's a lot easier

[17:20] and I'm very grateful for that because I

[17:22] am 42 years of age and I can tell you

[17:23] right now I have no desire whatsoever to

[17:25] spend another year or two of my life

[17:27] trying to raise support to get back

[17:28] there

[17:29] uh we went on my daughter's thirdd

[17:30] birthday and she loved it but try having

[17:33] a conversation with a three-year-old

[17:34] about deputation support visas they have

[17:36] no idea what you're talking about they

[17:37] just know my friends are here I like it

[17:39] here I don't want to go when we have

[17:40] prayer time at night I asked her what

[17:42] she wants to pray for most of the time

[17:44] she say the pray that we could get back

[17:45] to Nigeria so you can go ahead and play

[18:02] Nigeria it is home to over 213 million

[18:05] Souls many of which have been blinded by

[18:08] false preachers teaching either a false

[18:10] version of Christianity or

[18:13] Islam it is the seventh most populated

[18:16] country in the world but sadly only a

[18:18] small handful of gospel preaching

[18:21] missionaries some of the largest cities

[18:23] in the world are located here Legos 16

[18:27] million ibadan 5.8 million cono 5

[18:32] million Abuja 2.7 million banine City

[18:37] 2.5 million and port hardcour with 2.3

[18:43] million my name is Jeremy Barker and in

[18:46] January of 1999 I trusted Christ I

[18:49] enrolled in house Anderson College in

[18:51] September of 2000 and graduated in

[18:54] January of

[18:55] 2005 I've had the desire to go to the

[18:57] mission field for some time and in March

[18:59] of 2022 began praying more seriously

[19:02] about it four months later I could see

[19:04] God leading us to Nigeria so we sold our

[19:06] house our vehicles and whatever else we

[19:09] could to finance a three-month mission

[19:11] trip to the

[19:12] country for most of that time we stayed

[19:15] and worked with veteran missionary David

[19:16] masy in Port harcour but we did take a

[19:19] 10-day trip to see the work of

[19:21] missionary Mark Holmes in Abuja while in

[19:24] the country I was able to attend a

[19:26] prison ministry seminar go so with both

[19:29] veteran missionaries and Nationals

[19:31] preach in various settings including

[19:33] church services before bus visitation

[19:35] and Seminary Chapel I was able to visit

[19:38] a place that houses Christian converts

[19:40] that have fled their homes due to

[19:42] persecution and speak to them beneath a

[19:44] mango tree through an interpreter I had

[19:47] the opportunity to teach Sunday school

[19:48] in two different cities I took a day to

[19:51] tour the facilities of an orphanage and

[19:53] meet with the staff and the

[19:55] children I visited The Villages for two

[19:57] different church plans to help them have

[19:59] a big day for their anniversary Services

[20:02] I got to sit in some of the classes of a

[20:04] Bible Institute and also a seminary for

[20:07] hours I was able to meet with four

[20:09] different missionaries and many national

[20:11] pastors to get

[20:13] advice David masy has been in Nigeria

[20:16] for 28 years and we are raising support

[20:18] to go back and work alongside him for a

[20:21] period of time before starting our own

[20:23] independent work including Soul wining

[20:27] discipleship Church planting and

[20:29] starting an

[20:30] orphanage the people of Nigeria are open

[20:33] to the gospel and everywhere we went

[20:35] they were asking for

[20:36] missionaries will you please support us

[20:38] so that we can go back and continue to

[20:40] reach the Nigerian people also will you

[20:43] please pray that we can raise the

[20:45] support we need quickly we are willing

[20:48] to go we just need your help

[21:10] all want their lives to count for

[21:13] something to leave their Mark when life

[21:18] is through but vain

[21:21] Pursuits will come to nothing time will

[31:29] morning if you're thankful for the Lord

[31:38] where was a garden into which he entered

[31:40] and his disciples and Judas also which

[33:17] upon my heart and we're going to preach

[33:19] from this text and also referencing the

[33:21] other two gospel accounts that we're

[33:23] going to look at today I want to

[33:26] challenge us to put us in the word word

[33:28] to see ourselves in the text but more

[33:31] importantly see the hero that Jesus is

[33:35] in the text this morning so let's go

[33:37] Lord in prayer today there Heavenly

[33:38] Father Lord I Thank you for the

[33:40] opportunity to preach your word today

[33:41] Lord I pray if you would please cleanse

[33:42] me of sin and EMP me myself that I might

[33:45] get out of the way this morning and your

[33:46] word may go forth Lord I pray that you'd

[33:48] speak to our hearts challenge us from

[33:50] your word today Lord help us to pause

[33:53] and consider your word and to see

[33:55] ourselves Lord if there's someone here

[33:56] today that does not know you as savior

[33:58] May today be their day of salvation in

[34:01] your name I pray amen thank you for

[34:03] standing you may be

[34:06] seated this is the last

[34:10] evening that Jesus has on

[34:13] Earth this is his time uh before the

[34:17] crucifixion that he's here uh in the

[34:19] garden and he's praying with the

[34:21] disciples and he's he's he's done much

[34:24] work the verse here says that he

[34:26] resorted there it it wasn't a pleasant

[34:29] experience being in the garden it's very

[34:32] agonizing time in the life of our savior

[34:35] and he prays as it were great sweat

[34:38] drops of blood and the difficulty he has

[34:41] and the moments there where he asked his

[34:43] disciples watch ye and pray with me and

[34:46] they were there and they fell asleep and

[34:49] he came to him again and said Watch and

[34:51] Pray L you enter into temptation and

[34:53] they fell

[34:55] asleep and the third time he wakes them

[34:57] up and the other gospel accounts tell us

[34:59] right as he's waking them up here comes

[35:01] Judas the betrayer with the

[35:04] soldiers and as they come the gospel

[35:07] accounts tell us that Jesus went out to

[35:10] meet them he wasn't

[35:15] hiding he knows what's ahead he knows

[35:18] all things the Bible says that Jesus

[35:21] went out to meet them and he as they

[35:23] came to him he meets them and he tells

[35:25] them asks them the question who are who

[35:28] seek ye let's go over very quickly to

[35:31] Matthew chapter 26 i' like to read to

[35:34] you from Matthew

[35:35] 26 and then we'll also go over to

[35:39] Luke John's account of

[35:42] the Peter cutting off the ear of malus

[35:46] is the only one that includes the names

[35:48] we'll talk about that here in just a

[35:49] moment Matthew 26 verse number 51 if

[36:04] garden and verse number

[36:06] 49 forth with he came to Jesus said hail

[36:18] and they laid hands on Jesus and took

[36:20] him and behold one of them which were

[37:50] his right ear Jesus answered and said

[37:52] suffer ye thus far he touched his ear

[37:56] and healed him

[37:58] then Jesus said un the chief priests and

[38:00] captains of the temple and the elders

[38:01] which were come to him be ye come out as

[38:04] against a thief with swords and staves

[38:06] when I was daily in the with you in the

[38:08] temple you stretched forth No Hands

[38:10] against me but this is your hour and the

[38:14] power of

[38:16] Darkness power of darkness in our

[38:19] scripture readings we find that Jesus is

[38:23] ready to go to the cross

[38:28] they come to to take him he he meets

[38:30] them there he questions them before they

[38:32] could question

[38:34] him whom seek ye and they said Jesus of

[38:39] Nazareth and the Jews of that day to

[38:43] insult someone they would insult those

[38:45] from Nazareth it was one thing to be

[38:47] From Galilee but to be from Nazareth was

[38:50] a public insult and so the response of

[38:53] Jesus from Nazareth culturally is trying

[38:56] to be insulted and Jesus's

[38:59] response is that I

[39:02] am

[39:03] he now in our in our Bible in our King

[39:06] James Bible we have words that are in

[39:09] italics the words that are in italics

[39:11] are for English congruity of the

[39:14] scripture and so in English we had the

[39:17] word he to help us understand what he's

[39:19] talking about so when Jesus said I am he

[39:23] was referencing the name of god Jehovah

[39:26] God I am like he said to Moses I am if

[39:30] he was just making a declarative

[39:31] statement I am he it wouldn't have had

[39:34] the same effect but because he's

[39:36] referenced himself as God they fell

[39:38] backward and fell down because Jesus is

[39:43] God he he's the savior he he's God and

[39:46] so he speaks I am and they fall backward

[39:50] and notice the in John it gives the the

[39:53] the text tells us that Judas was with

[39:56] them before he was with the disciples

[39:58] and with Jesus but now there's been a

[40:00] line drawn and he's on the other side it

[40:02] says he stood with them he's not with

[40:05] Jesus and the disciples anymore he's

[40:07] made up his mind he's made his choice

[40:09] and he's with them and then we find as

[40:12] Jesus's response they fall on their face

[40:14] they fall backward and then they arise

[40:17] in this moment and he says whom seek ye

[40:19] they said Jesus of Nazareth again and he

[40:21] says I am

[40:23] he but then he pauses right after that

[40:26] look if you would in verse verse number

[40:27] eight of John chapter

[41:09] verse number 12 and he says to the Lord

[41:11] I Thank thee that I've lost none except

[41:12] for the son of predition which is

[41:14] judas's scariot so he's wants them to go

[41:17] away Jesus put himself between the

[41:20] disciples and the armed

[41:23] mob Jesus places himself between the

[41:26] disciples and the arm mod and he says

[41:28] you're after me you're not after

[41:31] them you're after me let them go their

[41:36] way so the scripture might be fulfilled

[41:39] let them go their

[41:43] way but there's a moment after verse n

[41:46] where Simon

[41:49] Peter decides to take into his own

[41:52] zealous

[41:53] hands

[41:55] action without insulting the Lord now

[41:58] the Bible tells us was we read in the go

[42:00] other gospel accounts one of them said

[42:02] to the Lord shall we Smite them with the

[42:05] sword and Peter didn't wait for the Lord

[42:08] to answer he just

[42:10] who just went right after

[42:12] it and I my personal belief is he was

[42:16] aiming for his head and he just got the

[42:20] ear but he he goes right after it and in

[42:22] his zealousness of maybe trying to prove

[42:26] himself as he told Jesus I'll go with

[42:28] you I'm not going to deny you I'll go

[42:30] with you even unto death now it's his

[42:33] moment now we also got to put ourselves

[42:35] in the text they've just been knocked

[42:37] down because Jesus said I am so that

[42:42] they're down they're just now getting up

[42:45] and all of a sudden now Peter's got

[42:47] courage and Peter swipes at the ear cuts

[42:51] off the ear and Jesus looks at him look

[42:53] at verse

[42:54] 11 then said Jesus unto Peter

[42:57] put up thy sword into the sheath the cup

[43:00] which my father hath given me shall I

[43:03] not drink it so Simon Peter cuts off

[43:06] malus's ear the Gospel of John is the

[43:09] last of the four gospels written so

[43:11] there is some time that has transpired

[43:14] in fact when the Gospel of John is

[43:15] written Peter's already

[43:17] died so John's dropping

[43:20] names and Nam the disciple who cut off

[43:23] the ear the other three gospels count

[43:24] Mark Luke and Matthew just mentioned

[43:26] that there was was one of them there was

[43:28] one of them there was one of them John

[43:29] gives you his name and he gives malcus

[43:32] his name so we know the name of the

[43:34] servant but John writes that Peter cut

[43:38] off the ear Luke The Physician he writes

[43:42] in his gospel account that Jesus healed

[43:45] it the other three did not include that

[43:48] part but Luke The Physician talks about

[43:51] that now when Peter cut off the ear of

[43:54] malus he was malus being a

[43:57] representative of Caiaphas the high

[43:59] priest when when he chopped off malus's

[44:02] ear it was considered a capital crime it

[44:05] carried the sentence of could be put to

[44:11] death not a good situation Peter when

[44:15] Jesus just said I've lost none of

[44:18] them

[44:23] whack but Jesus response

[44:27] is that he says to them in another

[44:30] gospel count suffer you thus far in

[44:31] other words wait a

[44:33] minute Jesus reaches

[44:35] down picks up the ear on puts it back on

[44:38] the guy's

[44:41] head the guy who's with the mob to

[44:45] arrest Jesus the guy who's with the mob

[44:48] that's got swords and staves and they're

[44:50] there to do

[44:52] harm Jesus looks at him and reaches down

[44:55] and puts his ear back on

[44:57] amazing thing that happens it's a

[44:59] miracle it's the last miracle before he

[45:01] goes to the Cross but the amazing thing

[45:04] that happens is he puts the ear back on

[45:06] and he removed all evidence of Peter's

[45:12] crime oh I can tell you're so happy

[45:14] about it he removed all evidence that

[45:17] Peter had done anything

[45:20] wrong the evidence that malus's ear was

[45:23] on the ground and now it's back on his

[45:24] head guy can't say well he cut off my

[45:29] ear one ear two ears I always see two

[45:32] ears you're not missing

[45:35] one but but the reality is this is that

[45:39] Jesus removed all evidence of Peter's

[45:43] crime then he challenges Peter and he

[45:46] tells him the cup which uh the father

[45:48] hath given

[45:49] me should I not drink it and the the

[45:54] reality is Peter fell asleep if he'd

[45:56] been watching in praying he knew how

[45:58] heavy going to the Cross was for the

[46:00] Savior but he was

[46:03] sleeping so Jesus removes all

[46:07] evidence and then he surrenders

[46:11] himself to them and John chap 10 ver 18

[46:15] it says that no man taketh my life I lay

[46:17] it down so no they didn't take Jesus to

[46:20] kill him he willingly gave up

[46:24] himself

[46:25] why well there's some things that we

[46:28] ought to

[46:29] consider as we consider what Jesus is

[46:32] doing here and make some application to

[46:35] our own lives this

[46:37] morning some things in our text that we

[46:39] see that Jesus did that might be an

[46:42] encouragement to you today because I

[46:45] truly believe that Jesus did these

[46:47] things in this text to illustrate for us

[46:50] some things that he does in the lives of

[46:52] Believers

[46:54] today the first thought we might

[46:56] consider

[46:57] today is as I mentioned earlier Jesus

[47:00] put

[47:01] himself between the attack and the

[47:05] disciples child of God nothing can get

[47:08] to you that hasn't come through

[47:11] him now there's things that he approves

[47:14] of and there's things that he allows but

[47:16] nothing comes into your life that has

[47:18] not crossed the desk of God and so he

[47:20] gives us opportunity to understand this

[47:22] this morning no matter what's going on

[47:23] in your life Jesus knows all about it no

[47:26] matter what your facing in your life you

[47:28] cannot be under attack unless the Lord

[47:30] has allowed it to happen and if he

[47:33] allowed it to happen he's got a purpose

[47:35] for what he's doing with it and we find

[47:38] here he came between them listen nothing

[47:41] nothing can enter your life that God

[47:43] hasn't given permission

[47:45] to what about the hard things preacher

[47:48] God's got a purpose he doesn't always

[47:50] clue Us in on the purpose we're not

[47:52] guaranteed to know the purpose of all

[47:54] the things in life while we're here on

[47:55] Earth but he he's got a plan bigger than

[47:58] us and he comes between us and the

[48:01] attacks that will come secondly we find

[48:03] that he removed the evidence of the

[48:05] crime of Peter what was he getting ready

[48:08] to do he was on the way to the cross and

[48:12] on his way to the Cross he's going to

[48:14] remove all the evidence of your sin he's

[48:17] going to become sin for us and take upon

[48:19] sin for us he was going to go to the

[48:22] cross and he's going to pay for all

[48:24] man's sin he's going to become the

[48:26] propitiator

[48:27] the payment the complete payment for all

[48:33] Sinners that's what he was getting ready

[48:35] to

[48:36] do he was paying for

[48:38] sin he removed the evidence Peter crime

[48:41] on his way to the cross and guess what

[48:43] he did on the cross if you'll believe on

[48:45] Jesus Christ as your savior today he'll

[48:48] remove all

[48:50] evidence you cannot be convicted and

[48:53] sentenced to hell if you believe Jesus

[48:57] Christ and accept him as your personal

[48:58] savior today he'll remove all evidence

[49:01] that any crime had been committed

[49:04] because when God looks at you he'll see

[49:05] the blood of Jesus Christ that cleanses

[49:07] us from all sin removes all

[49:12] evidence number three thought we ought

[49:15] to consider

[49:17] today is that stepping forward and not

[49:21] waiting on the Lord can cause harm from

[49:25] zealous disciples

[49:28] stepping forward and not waiting on the

[49:30] Lord can cause harm from zealous

[49:35] disciples Peter steps

[49:38] forward they ask Lord should we take up

[49:41] the sword he do wait for God to say yes

[49:43] or God to say no he just jumps into

[49:46] action and many times the life of

[49:48] Christians we get zealous for things we

[49:51] get passionate about things and we do

[49:54] more

[49:55] harm than we ever should if we' have

[49:58] stopped and waited on instruction from

[50:02] the

[50:03] Lord less harm would have happened but

[50:06] we can get zealous for things and do

[50:08] harm so stepping forward and not waiting

[50:11] on the Lord can cause harm from zealous

[50:15] disciples the four thought

[50:18] today words and actions of

[50:22] Believers can cut off the ears of other

[50:27] others words and actions of

[50:31] Believers can cut off the

[50:34] ears of others and you're not careful

[50:38] with the words that you say you will

[50:39] sever an opportunity to minister to

[50:43] people you can be out on visitation

[50:45] knocking on the door Hey I want about

[50:47] that somebody responds to you negatively

[50:49] or says something contrary to you and

[50:51] all of a sudden you switch from being

[50:53] caring about their soul to being zealous

[50:56] to to criticize what they say or attack

[51:00] them instead of the belief there and you

[51:03] can come after them in such a way that

[51:04] you'll sever that

[51:06] ear hey there's sometimes that I have

[51:09] left a house that I've been visiting

[51:12] with this mindset I'm leaving so that I

[51:15] can have an open door to come back

[51:18] again because we can put the pressure on

[51:22] we can say the words we can have the pro

[51:25] presentation and we put the pressure on

[51:27] and we can pressure them into a decision

[51:29] and some people are really good at

[51:31] pressuring people into

[51:33] decisions that the Holy Spirit hasn't

[51:35] even done anything

[51:37] yet but if we're sensitive to the

[51:39] leadership of the Holy Spirit In Our

[51:40] Lives we'll understand hey God's working

[51:44] and I don't want to get in the way of

[51:45] what God's doing so I'm G to leave for

[51:48] today an open door to come back at

[51:51] another time and have an even better

[51:54] conversation and possibly allow the holy

[51:57] work to be completed

[51:59] in that goes also in our relationship

[52:02] with our

[52:03] spouse you ever said some things that

[52:05] cut off the

[52:08] ear they didn't want to talk to you no

[52:12] more you ever committed some actions

[52:14] that influenced your ear relationship

[52:18] with your spouse if you're not careful

[52:20] you can cut off the ear with your words

[52:23] and with your actions and be a hindrance

[52:26] not only did Peter do that with malus

[52:30] he illustrates us that we can do that

[52:33] with our words and

[52:35] actions but the good news is just like

[52:38] Peter Jesus can step in and the damage

[52:42] we cause that could have been lifelong

[52:45] damage Jesus can restore it and Jesus

[52:49] can fix

[52:50] it in our lives there's encouragement

[52:53] for

[52:54] that I'd want to ask you today you ever

[52:57] use your sword of your

[53:00] mouth to cut other

[53:02] people's

[53:04] ears to hurt

[53:09] people well you're going to need Jesus

[53:11] to step

[53:12] in to put that

[53:16] back first you got to recognize you did

[53:19] it secondly you need Jesus to step in

[53:22] and to put it back because he can heal

[53:24] it and just as he did he removes all

[53:26] evidence and listen the the hard part

[53:29] about forgiving people is that we try to

[53:31] feed them the thought that you're to

[53:32] forgive and to

[53:34] forget that's not accurate you're to

[53:37] forgive and choose not to remember you

[53:40] don't bring it back up you don't throw

[53:42] it back up you choose not to

[53:44] remember and if it's under the blood and

[53:47] Christ has forgiven you quit bringing it

[53:50] back

[53:52] up he already restored the

[53:55] ear now there's damage that's done but

[53:58] we've got to work through that but if

[54:01] we're not careful we can step forward

[54:03] and we can be zealous and we can hurt

[54:06] other people we can cause harm zealous

[54:09] Christian we're not sensitive to the

[54:12] leadership of the Holy

[54:14] Spirit now Peter had the Lord right

[54:18] there next to him and he still didn't

[54:23] wait for permission to act

[54:28] sometimes in our life we forget that the

[54:30] Holy Spirit lives inside

[54:33] us practice the

[54:36] delay don't get so zealous that you do

[54:40] things without God's leadership and out

[54:43] without God's

[54:45] permission because you can cause harm

[54:47] for the name of Christ if you operate

[54:51] without working through the delay of

[54:55] waiting on the

[54:58] Lord we say well what if it's in the

[55:00] moment the Lord's going to direct you in

[55:02] the

[55:03] moment hey there the Lord knows what's

[55:06] ahead the Lord knows what you're going

[55:07] to face he's already got the preparation

[55:10] you need to do what he's called you to

[55:12] do and what he wants you to do all you

[55:15] have to do is say Lord what would th

[55:17] have me to

[55:18] do and just do

[55:21] it that's why it's so important for you

[55:24] and I as relationship with God to be

[55:27] sensitive to God means to be close to

[55:31] God I cannot be sensitive to the

[55:33] leadership of the holy spirit in my life

[55:34] I'm not close to God there are things

[55:37] between you and the Lord today well if

[55:40] you're here today and you don't know

[55:41] Jesus Christ as your savior you're not

[55:43] close to

[55:44] God but I got good news he knows your

[55:47] address he knows your name he knows

[55:50] where you live he knows how to get a

[55:52] hold of

[55:54] you if you listen to the still small

[55:56] voice of God he might be working on your

[55:59] heart this

[56:00] morning hey I'm talking to

[56:02] you not me the Lord I'm talking to you

[56:06] need to be saved

[56:08] today Believers who've caused harm By

[56:11] The Sword of our mouth we ought to get

[56:13] it right

[56:15] today don't let other believers go

[56:18] around with a head wound because of what

[56:20] you

[56:22] said just be sure that we are practicing

[56:26] not only with our words but also with

[56:28] our

[56:31] actions that we don't cut off the ears

[56:33] of

[56:34] others say well Jesus can fix it he can

[56:38] fix all things sure he

[56:41] can but let it not be that we're keeping

[56:44] Jesus busy fixing all our problems and

[56:46] all our mistakes and all the damage we

[56:50] do let it not be that Jesus has to keep

[56:53] following up after you to clean up after

[56:55] you because you don't have control over

[56:57] your words and your

[57:00] actions let's let God direct us now in

[57:04] our text we find that Jesus

[57:08] spoke that scripture might be fulfilled

[57:10] that scripture might be fulfilled that

[57:12] scripture might be fulfilled The Garden

[57:14] of Gethsemane and all the heavy things

[57:16] that were going to happen did not catch

[57:17] Jesus by

[57:20] surprise that's why he was born he was

[57:22] born to die he was born to become sin

[57:25] for us

[57:26] even in his Humanity as he prayed and he

[57:29] was

[57:30] Heavy he knew what was around the

[57:34] corner Jesus knew they were going to

[57:36] take him no matter what he

[57:39] said Jesus knew he was going to the

[57:42] Cross no matter what disciples stepped

[57:45] in with a

[57:47] sword because there's a greater purpose

[57:51] than what's happening in the moment I

[57:53] want you to listen to that there's a

[57:55] greater purpose for God in what's

[57:58] happening in the moments of our

[58:01] life but we can

[58:04] interrupt and interfere with God's

[58:07] Eternal

[58:08] purposes if we become zealous disciples

[58:12] who do not control their words and

[58:16] actions don't be Peter with a

[58:20] sword wait on

[58:27] now some may be here today and you're a

[58:30] malus somebody's chopped your ear

[58:34] off what should I do

[58:39] forgive why L the root of bitterness

[58:41] spring up in your heart well they didn't

[58:44] ask me for forgiveness

[58:45] don't don't wait for them to come ask

[58:50] you for forgiveness to forgive them is

[58:53] if you do you might be waiting a long

[58:55] time

[58:58] or Satan might use it as a cause to

[59:02] spring up a root of bitterness in your

[59:06] heart so be

[59:08] careful if you're malish today and your

[59:10] ears been cut off I've got good news

[59:13] Jesus Can Fix It Jesus can put it back

[59:17] together Jesus can help you grow to a

[59:21] place that it doesn't even

[59:23] affect your everyday life

[59:28] he's able to do that so the hero of the

[59:32] story is not Peter with the sword we

[59:35] know

[59:36] that it's the

[59:39] Lord he is the hero of the story he's

[59:44] the hero of the day he's the miracle

[59:47] working God he is the one who restores

[59:51] but just like that

[59:54] day all of us

[60:00] when we don't wait on the

[60:02] Lord and are sensitive

[60:07] to's

[60:09] careful careful that the words of your

[60:13] mouth the meditation of your heart is

[60:17] Pleasant in eyes

[60:20] of words of your mouth Ephesians tells

[60:23] us let no corrupt communication proceed

[60:26] out of thy mouth but that which is good

[60:28] in the use of edify that's building

[60:31] people up don't cut people down with

[60:41] yourh and make sure that our words and

[60:45] actions don't cut off the ears of

[60:49] others that we can be glorifying and

[60:53] praising God for all that

[61:01] this account of scripture

[61:08] savior taken in a dark

[61:11] hour the spirit of Satan working in this

[61:15] hour of Darkness as Matthew describes it

[61:19] leads him to the

[61:22] cross on his way to the
