[1:57] Good evening. Thank you for joining us
[1:59] here tonight. It's good to see you all
[2:00] with us. Hopefully, you had a good
[2:02] afternoon and a good rest of the evening
[2:05] time before you came here. Glad you woke
[2:07] up and was able to make it. If you are
[2:10] able to, would you join us as we stand
[2:12] together as we sing There's not a friend
[2:15] like the lowly Jesus. Songs 296. No, not
[2:19] one. Song 296. We'll sing those first
[2:22] four verses.
[2:25] There's not a friend like the lonely
[2:29] Jesus. No, not one. No, not one. None
[2:35] else could heal all our souls
[2:39] diseases. No, not one. No, not one.
[2:45] Jesus knows all about our struggles. He
[2:50] will guide till the day is done. There's
[2:55] not a friend like the lonely Jesus. No,
[3:00] not one. No, not
[3:05] one. No friend like him is so high and
[3:09] holy.
[3:16] And yet no friend is so meek and
[3:25] lonely. Jesus knows all about our
[3:30] struggles. He will guide till the day is
[3:35] done. There's not a friend like the
[3:39] lonely Jesus. No, not one. No, not
[3:46] one. There's not an hour that he is not
[3:51] near us. No, not one. No, not one. No
[3:58] night so dark, but his love can cheer
[4:02] us. No, not one. No, not one. Jesus
[4:09] knows all about our struggles. He will
[4:14] guide till the day is done. There's not
[4:19] a friend like the lonely Jesus. No, not
[4:25] one. No, not
[4:29] one. Did every saint find his friend
[4:33] forsake him? No, not one. No, not one.
[4:40] or sinner find that he would not take
[4:44] him. No, not one. No, not one. Jesus
[4:52] knows all about our struggles. He will
[4:57] guide till the day is done. There's not
[5:02] a friend like the lonely Jesus. No, not
[5:07] one.
[5:09] Oh, not
[5:13] one. Then join me as we go to
[5:16] 216. I'm dwelling in Bula land. Song
[5:21] number 216.
[5:32] Far away the noise of strife upon my ear
[5:39] is
[5:41] falling. Then I know the sins of earth
[5:46] be set on every
[5:50] hand. Doubt and fear and things of earth
[5:56] in vain to me are calling.
[6:01] None of these shall move me from you la
[6:09] land. I'm
[6:11] living on the
[6:13] mountain underneath the cloudless
[6:18] sky. I'm
[6:20] drinking at the
[6:23] fountain that never shall run dry. Oh
[6:28] yes, I'm
[6:30] feasting on the
[6:32] mana from a
[6:35] bountiful supply. For I am
[6:40] dwelling in
[6:42] ma land.
[6:46] Far below the storm of doubt upon the
[6:52] world is
[6:54] between sons of men in battle long. The
[7:01] enemy
[7:04] withstand safe am I within the castle of
[7:11] God's word retreat.
[7:15] Nothing then can reach
[7:21] me
[7:23] land. I'm
[7:25] living on the
[7:28] mountain underneath the cloudless
[7:32] sky. I'm
[7:35] drinking at the
[7:37] fountain that never shall run dry. Oh
[7:42] yes, I'm
[7:44] feasting on the
[7:47] mana from a
[7:49] bountiful supply for I am
[7:54] dwelling in
[7:57] you
[7:59] land. Let the stormy breezes blow. Their
[8:05] cry cannot alarm me.
[8:10] I am safely sheltered. Here,
[8:15] protected by God's
[8:19] blend. Here the sun is always shining.
[8:24] Here there's not can harm
[8:28] me. I am safe
[8:32] forever in
[8:35] you land.
[8:38] I'm
[8:39] living on the
[8:42] mountain underneath the cloudless
[8:47] sky. I'm
[8:49] peeking on the
[8:51] mountain that never shall run dry. Oh
[8:57] yes, I'm
[8:58] feasting on the
[9:01] mana from a
[9:03] bountiful supply. For I am
[9:09] dwelling you love and on that
[9:14] last few hear the works of God. I sing
[9:21] in
[9:24] contemplation. Hearing now his blessed
[9:28] voice I see the way he
[9:33] planned. Dwelling in the spirit. Here I
[9:39] learn of full
[9:43] salvation. Gladly will I
[9:47] tear in
[9:50] you
[9:52] land. I'm
[9:57] living underneath the cloudless sky.
[10:03] I'm
[10:04] bringing at the
[10:07] fountain that ever shall run dry. Oh
[10:12] yes, I'm
[10:14] feasting on the
[10:16] mana from a
[10:19] bountiful supply. for I am
[10:24] dwelling in
[10:26] [Music]
[10:28] ma
[10:32] land. And at this time I'm going to ask
[10:34] brother Brown if he could pray for our
[10:36] offering this evening.
[11:03] Amen. You may be seated.
[11:05] [Music]
[11:24] Heat. Heat.
[11:40] [Music]
[12:28] If you're able to, would you join us one
[12:30] last time if you're able as we stand
[12:31] together for song
[12:33] 369. The
[12:35] comforter has come. Oh, spread the
[12:38] tidings round wherever man is found. The
[12:43] comforter has come. Not your blanket
[12:46] that you sleep under when you're taking
[12:47] a nap on Sunday afternoons, but the Holy
[12:50] Spirit, the spirit of God that he sent
[12:53] to you when you got saved, the comforter
[12:56] has come. So let's lift it up as we sing
[12:58] about God's Holy Spirit this
[13:01] evening. Oh spread the tiding
[13:05] drown
[13:07] wherever man is found
[13:11] wherever human hearts and human woes
[13:16] abound.
[13:18] Let every Christian
[13:21] tongue
[13:22] proclaim the joyful sound. The
[13:28] comforter has
[13:32] come. The comforter has come. The
[13:38] comforter has come. The Holy Ghost from
[13:44] heaven.
[13:45] The father's
[13:48] promise. Oh, spread the tidings round.
[13:54] Wherever man is found, the
[13:58] [Music]
[14:00] cupboard has
[14:04] come. The long, long night has passed.
[14:09] The morning breaks at last.
[14:13] and hush the dreadful
[14:16] whale and cury of the
[14:20] blast. As or the golden hills, the day
[14:27] advances
[14:28] past. The
[14:32] comforter has
[14:36] come. The
[14:38] comforter has come. The
[14:42] comforter has come. The Holy Ghost from
[14:48] heaven. The Father's promised
[14:52] gift. Oh, spread the tidings round.
[14:58] Wherever men is found, the
[15:04] comfort has come.
[15:09] Oh, the great king of
[15:12] kings with healing in his wings to every
[15:19] captive
[15:21] soul a full deliverance
[15:24] brings. And through the vacant sails,
[15:29] the song of triumph rings.
[15:33] The
[15:36] comforter has
[15:40] come. The
[15:42] comforter has
[15:44] come. The
[15:46] comforter has come. The Holy Ghost from
[15:52] heaven. The Father's promise give. Oh,
[15:58] spread the tidings round.
[16:02] Wherever men is found, the
[16:08] comfort has come on at last.
[16:13] Oh boundless love
[16:16] divine, how shall this tongue of mine to
[16:22] wondering mortals tell the matchless
[16:27] grace
[16:29] divine that I a child of hell. Would in
[16:35] his image
[16:37] shine. The
[16:39] [Music]
[16:41] comforter has
[16:44] come. The
[16:47] comforter has come. The
[16:51] comforter has come. The Holy Ghost from
[16:56] heaven. The father's promised gift.
[17:01] Oh, spread the tidings round.
[17:06] Wherever men is
[17:09] found, the
[17:13] comfort has
[17:18] come. You may be seated.
[17:51] David praises
[17:53] God. We're going to begin reading in
[17:56] verse number one. Oh
[17:57] Lord, thou hast searched
[18:00] me and known me. Pretty powerful
[18:05] statement
[18:06] there. Thou hast searched me and known
[18:09] me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine
[18:13] uprising. Thou understandest my
[18:15] thoughts, my thought, excuse me, a far
[18:18] off. Thou compassest my path and my
[18:22] lying down, and art acquainted with all
[18:25] my ways. For there is not a word in my
[18:28] tongue, but lo, oh Lord, thou knowest it
[18:31] all together. Thou hast beset me behind
[18:35] and before and laid thine hand upon me.
[18:39] Such knowledge is too wonderful for me.
[18:42] It is high. I cannot attain unto it.
[18:45] Whether shall I go from thy spirit or
[18:48] whether shall I flee from thy presence.
[18:51] If I ascend up into heaven, thou art
[18:53] there. If I make my bed in hell, behold,
[18:57] thou art there. If I take the wings of
[19:00] the morning and dwell in the uttermost
[19:02] parts of the
[19:04] sea, even there shall thy hand lead me,
[19:08] and thy right hand shall hold me. If I
[19:12] say, Surely the darkness shall cover me,
[19:15] even the night shall be light about me.
[19:18] Yay, the darkness hideth not from thee,
[19:21] but the night shineth as the day. The
[19:24] darkness and the light are both alike to
[19:27] thee. For thou hast possessed my reigns.
[19:31] Thou hast covered me in my mother's
[19:33] womb. I will praise thee, for I am
[19:37] fearfully and wonderfully made.
[19:40] Marvelous are thy works, and that my
[19:43] soul knoweth right well. My substance
[19:47] was not hid from thee when I was made in
[19:49] secret, and curiously wrought in the
[19:52] lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes
[19:54] did see my substance, yet being
[19:57] unperfect, and in the thy book all my
[20:00] members were written, which in
[20:03] continuence were fashioned, when as yet
[20:06] there was none of them. How precious
[20:09] also are thy thoughts unto me, oh God.
[20:12] How great is the sum of them. If I
[20:15] should count them, they are more in
[20:18] number than the sand. when I awake, I am
[20:22] still with thee. Let's go, Lord, in
[20:25] prayer tonight. Heavenly Father, Lord, I
[20:28] thank you for the opportunity to preach
[20:29] your word tonight. Lord, I pray if you
[20:32] would please help me tonight to preach
[20:35] your word. Cleanse me of sin. Empty me
[20:39] of myself that I might get out of the
[20:41] way tonight and your word may go forth.
[20:45] Lord, I pray you challenge us and
[20:48] encourage us from your word tonight.
[20:51] Lord, we're thankful for each and
[20:53] everyone who's here tonight. We're
[20:54] thankful for those that are watching on
[20:56] the live stream. And Lord, we pray
[20:58] tonight that all that said and done will
[21:00] bring honor and glory to you. In your
[21:03] name I pray. Amen.
[21:07] David writes about the Lord that the
[21:11] Lord has searched him and he knows me.
[21:14] God is
[21:16] omnisient. He's all
[21:19] knowing. I want you to think about that
[21:21] for just a minute. He's
[21:24] omnisient. He's all knowing and he knows
[21:27] all about
[21:30] us. No, like all about us.
[21:36] Everything there is about us, he
[21:40] knows. And yet he still loves us and he
[21:44] still cares for us and he still makes
[21:48] intercession for
[21:50] us. Even though he knows it
[21:53] all, he
[21:55] cares. Notice verse two. Thou knowest my
[22:00] downsitting and mine uprising.
[22:03] Thou understandest my thought a far off.
[22:07] Some of us may need to underline that
[22:09] verse because sometimes we think nobody
[22:13] understands but God does.
[22:16] I don't understand. I don't know. Nobody
[22:18] gets it. You know, sometimes we can be
[22:21] like Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh,
[22:24] discouraged all the time, head
[22:27] down. But God knows. And not only does
[22:31] he know it, he understands it.
[22:35] He understands my thought. A far
[22:38] off. Thou compass my path and my lying
[22:44] down and art acquainted with all my
[22:47] ways. Wait a minute. Now we've
[22:50] transitioned not just from God being
[22:53] omnisient, but him also being
[22:56] omnipresent. He is near.
[23:00] As a believer, take comfort. God is
[23:02] near.
[23:06] As a believer, take caution. God is
[23:09] near.
[23:12] Come
[23:15] on. When I need him to be the comforter,
[23:18] and I didn't know brother Samuel was
[23:19] going to pick that song, but it fits
[23:20] with the message tonight. If we need him
[23:22] to be the comforter, he's there.
[23:25] He's there. He's on. No matter where
[23:27] we're at, he's there. No matter what
[23:30] we're struggling with, he knows it. He
[23:32] understands it. He's
[23:35] there. He knows. He can passeth my path
[23:39] in my lying down. Not acquainted with
[23:40] all my ways. Now watch this. For there
[23:43] is not a word in my
[23:45] tongue, below, oh Lord, thou knowest it
[23:50] all together.
[23:53] There's not a word in my
[23:55] tongue that I've said or that I've
[23:59] thought about saying that God didn't
[24:01] know
[24:03] about. Everything we speak, everything
[24:06] we think, God knows all about it.
[24:12] Believer, take courage. He's
[24:14] there. Believer, take caution. He's
[24:18] there.
[24:21] years ago that used to be described. I
[24:23] used to say it this way. When you're
[24:26] sitting on your
[24:27] couch, you're watching your TV. God is
[24:32] there. He sees what you
[24:36] see. You got your earbuds in or your
[24:38] AirPods in. He hears what you
[24:42] hear. He hears what you hear. He sees
[24:45] what you see. He knows what we think.
[24:51] But take
[24:53] caution. Make
[24:54] sure when we were little kids, we used
[24:57] to learn a song in in Sunday school. Oh,
[25:00] be careful little eyes what you see. Oh,
[25:04] be careful little eyes what you see. For
[25:07] the father up above is looking down in
[25:10] love. So be careful little eyes what you
[25:14] see. And it had a multiple. Oh, be
[25:17] careful little ears what you hear. Oh,
[25:20] be careful little hands what you do. Oh,
[25:22] be careful little feet where you go. Be
[25:24] careful little mouth what you say. Cuz
[25:26] the father up above is look at he's
[25:28] omnipresent. He knows.
[25:32] Be careful little mind what you think.
[25:36] Oh, be careful little mind what you
[25:38] think. Cuz the father up above is
[25:41] looking down in love. So be careful
[25:43] little mind what you think. He's
[25:46] omnipresent. He's
[25:49] omnisient. Verse five, thou hast beset
[25:52] me behind and before and laid thine hand
[25:57] upon me. Now, we're talking more about
[25:59] his omnipresence. He's your front guard
[26:02] and he's your rear guard. David, a man
[26:05] of war, as he describes it in this
[26:07] passage. God is before him and God is
[26:10] after him. He's his front guard and he's
[26:13] his rear guard. He's protecting him.
[26:16] He's guiding him. Thou hast set me
[26:18] behind and before and laid thine hand
[26:21] upon me such knowledge is too
[26:25] wonderful. Too wonderful to me. It is
[26:28] high. I cannot cont attain unto it.
[26:31] Let's just stop and think. Nothing
[26:33] enters my
[26:35] life that God didn't know about.
[26:40] Nothing gets to
[26:42] me that God did not know
[26:48] about. The knowledge is too
[26:52] wonderful, too wonderful to recognize,
[26:55] too wonderful to
[26:57] express the omniscience and the
[27:00] omnipresence of
[27:02] God. I mean, think about it. When you're
[27:05] hurting, you're
[27:07] struggling. As a married person,
[27:09] sometimes you're hurting. You're
[27:10] struggling and you think, "My spouse
[27:12] doesn't get it." God
[27:14] does. God fully
[27:17] understands. He understands your
[27:20] thoughts. The presence of God is near.
[27:23] Verse seven, whether shall I go from thy
[27:25] spirit, or wheither shall I flee from
[27:28] thy presence? If I ascend up into
[27:30] heaven, thou art there. If I make my bed
[27:32] in hell, behold, thou art there. If I
[27:34] take the wings of the morning and dwell
[27:36] in the uttermost parts of the sea, even
[27:39] there shall thy hand lead me, thy right
[27:42] hand shall hold me. Even if I took
[27:46] off, he's still
[27:48] there leading and
[27:51] guiding. I say verse 11, surely the
[27:53] darkness shall cover me. Even the night
[27:56] shall be light about me. Yay, darkness
[27:58] hideth not from thee. And you can't hide
[28:00] in the dark from
[28:02] God. Remember when you were a little kid
[28:04] and you played hide and seek and you
[28:08] thought, "You can't see
[28:13] me." Little kids though, you can't see
[28:16] me. They're right there in front of
[28:19] you. But because they can't see you,
[28:23] then you can't see them. You can't see
[28:26] me. They're hiding. At least they think
[28:29] they
[28:31] are. We can't play hideand-seek with
[28:35] God. Can't hide from him. He knows where
[28:38] we're at. And he understands our
[28:40] thoughts are far
[28:42] off. Even in the darkness, he's there.
[28:45] Even in the darkness, he sees
[28:49] us. Verse 13, for thou hast possessed my
[28:54] reigns. That was a confusing term. Thus
[28:58] possessed my reigns. I had to go do some
[29:01] study because I don't remember having
[29:04] rains. I've got a wedding ring, but I
[29:06] don't have reigns. You know, usually
[29:09] attached to horses is when I think of
[29:12] rains. But the word there, the Hebrew
[29:15] word has the sense of when I was in
[29:18] embriionic
[29:19] form, when I was first being formed by
[29:23] God, he knew me.
[29:26] Jeremiah tells us that
[29:29] too. But the Bible is telling us here be
[29:32] my reigns. Thou hast possessed my
[29:35] reigns. Thou hast covered me in my
[29:36] mother's womb. Verse 14, I will praise
[29:39] thee for I am fearfully and wonderfully
[29:41] made. Marvelous are thy works and that
[29:43] my soul knoweth right well. God doesn't
[29:45] make a mistake.
[29:49] God made us and he knows
[29:53] us and he cares for
[29:57] us. So David writes that God's made him.
[30:00] He's fearfully and wonderfully made. But
[30:02] not only that, he said, "Marvelous are
[30:04] thy
[30:05] works and that my soul knoweth right
[30:10] well."
[30:12] Not just the physical blessings of God
[30:15] forming us, but the spirit blessings of
[30:18] my soul, knowing right well. Verse 15,
[30:21] my substance was not hid from thee when
[30:24] I was made in secret, and curiously
[30:27] wrought in the lowest parts of thine
[30:28] earth. Thine eyes did see my substance,
[30:31] yet being unperfect, and in the book of
[30:33] all my members were written, which is in
[30:36] continuence were fashioned. When as yet
[30:38] there was none of them, how precious
[30:40] also are thy thoughts unto me, oh God.
[30:45] God formed us in our mother's womb. God
[30:48] had a plan for us. God set us apart for
[30:52] service to
[30:53] him. And yet his thoughts towards
[30:56] us so
[31:00] wonderful. Think about that. Let's read
[31:03] that verse together again. Let's look at
[31:04] it. Verse 17. How precious also are thy
[31:09] thoughts unto me, oh God. How great is
[31:12] the sum of them. God's omniscience,
[31:15] God's omnipresence, that he fearfully
[31:18] and wonderfully made me. That he's the
[31:20] comforter when I need comforting. He
[31:22] understands me, he knows me, he cares
[31:25] for me. All of those thoughts that he
[31:27] has toward me is so
[31:29] wonderful, so great.
[31:35] But yet it's easy to let it slip, isn't
[31:37] it? It's easy to let it become
[31:40] mundane. It's easy to let it get routine
[31:43] in our lives. But we ought to remember
[31:47] how precious also are thy thoughts unto
[31:50] me. It ought to be precious how God
[31:52] cares for
[31:53] you. How God has a plan for you. How
[31:58] great is the sum of them. If I should
[32:01] count them, they are more in number than
[32:04] the sand. When I awake, I am still with
[32:07] thee. We're just go back. If I should
[32:10] count them, they are more in number than
[32:12] the
[32:14] sand. You ever felt like God wasn't
[32:16] thinking about you? That's a lie.
[32:24] I had the privilege, it was probably a
[32:27] year and a half
[32:29] ago to be sitting in the living room of
[32:32] uh Paty and Earl Boyer at the time. And
[32:37] Earl was talking to me about one of his
[32:40] songs that he loved to
[32:42] sing, which was the song When He was on
[32:46] the
[32:47] cross, I was on his mind.
[32:51] Now, at that time, we're sitting there
[32:53] talking about he went and got his
[32:54] guitar. I don't know if you remember
[32:55] this, Paty. Went and got his guitar and
[32:57] played a little bit for me. And it had
[32:59] been a while since he
[33:01] played, but I remember him talking to me
[33:04] about that song. When he was on the
[33:07] cross, I was on his mind. For he knew
[33:13] me, yet he loved me.
[33:18] He whose glory makes the heaven
[33:22] shine. I'm so
[33:24] unworthy of such
[33:27] mercy. But when he was on the cross, I
[33:32] was on his mind. I like that song. That
[33:37] encourages my
[33:39] heart to think that when my savior died
[33:42] for
[33:43] me, he was thinking about me.
[33:49] Does that encourage you that when he
[33:51] died, he was thinking about you? He who
[33:54] knows you all all about
[34:00] you. Young couples that first get
[34:02] married, they don't really know each
[34:04] other. They think they do, but they
[34:08] don't know each
[34:09] other. And then you get married, you've
[34:11] been married for about five, six years.
[34:13] Guess what you discovered? you still
[34:15] don't know each
[34:17] other. Then you get married about 15, 20
[34:20] years and you think we got it figured
[34:22] out. Then one of them
[34:25] changes and the things they used to
[34:27] like, they don't like them
[34:30] anymore. I don't know how many different
[34:32] home decorating schemes your wife's
[34:34] going to
[34:36] choose. You may she may say, "I like
[34:38] this." And then that changes to
[34:41] something else. And then that changes to
[34:44] something
[34:46] else. And so her her likes and dislikes
[34:51] change and you think, "I've got her
[34:54] figured
[34:55] out. I know what she
[34:58] likes." And then she changes on
[35:02] you. My wife and I, when we got married,
[35:05] she hated
[35:07] tea. Growing up, that's what we had all
[35:10] the time. My mom's from Kentucky, so we
[35:12] had sweet tea all the time. It was the
[35:14] primary drink in our house. Sweet tea.
[35:18] That's what we had. Water, sweet tea,
[35:20] milk. That's pretty much it most of the
[35:23] time. And then at times, you know, we
[35:26] got the fancy juice in a can, you know,
[35:29] where you pull the little rubber thing
[35:30] off and you the frozen concentrate fell
[35:34] in. That's the fancy juice. No. Three
[35:37] cups, three of these of water. Filled up
[35:39] three times. Pour it in. Mix it up.
[35:41] Yeah. Grape juice. Orange
[35:44] juice. Apple
[35:46] juice. 59 cents a little one. That was
[35:50] great. Then I went to the store later
[35:52] on. They shrunk them. Took two to make
[35:55] it. Is that what they do to
[35:58] you? But when my wife and I first come,
[36:00] she hated tea. And I tried to get her to
[36:03] drink it. She wouldn't drink it. You
[36:05] know what my wife's discovered here over
[36:06] the last few
[36:09] months? HTO. I'm blaming some of you
[36:12] because you started
[36:15] it. So now she likes tea, but it's got
[36:19] to be flavored tea. Got to have the
[36:22] flavoring to it because regular tea is
[36:25] not her thing, but the flavored
[36:27] tea. So here I was thinking, I'm okay. I
[36:30] got it all figured out. Brother Garza,
[36:32] she's she's not going to drink tea. You
[36:34] know what I did this week when we got
[36:36] out of the doctor's visit that I took
[36:37] her to? I went and got her
[36:42] tea. Now, I know that about my
[36:47] wife, but brother Danny
[36:50] knows not to get her tea for Kathy. But
[36:54] if he gets her an
[36:57] icy, he's done good for the
[37:01] day. Because people are different and
[37:04] their likes and dislikes, they change.
[37:06] And what my wife used to like and she
[37:09] didn't like tea, now she likes tea and
[37:11] the the things that change in our lives.
[37:13] But God knows all about us. And you may
[37:16] think, "Nobody understands me." And God
[37:19] says, "I
[37:20] do. I know all about you. I know who you
[37:24] are and what you struggle with
[37:26] internally.
[37:28] I know the thoughts that you don't even
[37:30] verbalize to the family in your life.
[37:33] God says, "I know all those. I
[37:35] understand
[37:37] them." How his thoughts toward us are so
[37:41] wonderful, so so precious to
[37:46] us. David writes, "If I could count
[37:49] them, they'd be more than the sand." He
[37:51] said, "When I awake, I am still with
[37:55] thee.
[37:57] David says, "When I
[38:00] die and I awake in paradise in heaven,
[38:05] God, you're still going to be
[38:07] there. In fact, you're going to be with
[38:09] God for all
[38:13] eternity. So, you might as well get used
[38:15] to him being around you
[38:17] now. We ought to live our lives in such
[38:19] a way that brings honor and glory to God
[38:22] every day."
[38:25] So David talks about when he awakes, I
[38:27] am still with thee. Then then David
[38:29] struggles. Verses 19 to 22. Truly thou
[38:33] wilt slay the wicked, oh God. Depart
[38:35] from me, therefore, ye bloody men, for
[38:37] they speak against thee wickedly, and
[38:39] thine enemies take thy name in vain. Do
[38:42] not I hate them, oh Lord, that hate
[38:44] thee, and not I greed with those that
[38:47] rise up against thee? I hate them with
[38:49] perfect hatred. I count them mine
[38:51] enemies.
[38:54] David's struggling here because the
[38:56] wicked people, the wicked, the profane,
[38:58] their evil speech, the enemies of God,
[39:01] it bothers
[39:03] him. He doesn't like
[39:07] it. But then David says to
[39:10] God, verse 22, "Search me, oh
[39:14] God, know my heart." He already knows
[39:18] it. "Try me and know my thoughts." He
[39:22] already knows
[39:23] them. And see if there
[39:25] be any wicked way in
[39:30] me and lead me in the way
[39:35] everlasting. David knows that God is
[39:37] omnisient. David knows that God is
[39:40] omnipresent. David knows that God knows
[39:44] him. Knows all about him. and his
[39:47] thoughts are overwhelming to him about
[39:49] how great God is. And David says,
[39:53] "Search
[39:58] me. Search me, oh God, and know my
[40:00] heart. Try me and know my thoughts and
[40:02] see if there be any wicked way in me.
[40:06] And lead me in the way everlasting."
[40:09] David's request at the Psalm 139 is
[40:12] this. God, you know it, but will you
[40:15] show it to
[40:17] me? God, you know it. Will you show it
[40:21] to
[40:21] me? Now, when God shows it to us, what's
[40:25] the purpose of
[40:28] it? To do something with
[40:31] it. Search me, oh God. Know my heart.
[40:36] Try me and know my thoughts. and see if
[40:38] there be any wicked way in me and lead
[40:41] me in the way everlasting. We need God's
[40:43] guidance into the right
[40:45] way. So the David as the psalmist
[40:48] writes,
[40:50] God, search
[40:52] me, know
[40:54] me, try me, guide me. In other words,
[40:58] David's saying, I cannot do it on my
[41:01] own. I need your help, God.
[41:05] Search
[41:06] me, know me, try me, guide me, lead
[41:13] me. David's
[41:15] request, his prayer requests that God,
[41:18] Psalm 139 verses 23 and 24,
[41:22] ought to be part of every believer's
[41:27] life. For we give God permission, God,
[41:30] search
[41:31] me. Know my heart. Know my
[41:35] thoughts, see if there be any wicked way
[41:37] in me, and lead me in the way
[41:43] everlasting. When was the last time you
[41:46] gave God
[41:48] permission, to search you, to know you,
[41:52] to try you, to see if there be any
[41:56] wicked way in
[42:01] me? having boys.
[42:03] Sometimes when they complete their chore
[42:07] at the
[42:08] house, mom or dad will come check
[42:14] it. You know what happens a lot of times
[42:16] when mom checks it? There's things that
[42:20] aren't done like they should
[42:22] be and mom points out, "You need to fix
[42:26] that. You need to fix that." Or
[42:29] sometimes, "Good job. You did
[42:32] good. That's exactly how I want it to
[42:37] be. But when mom checks it, it's not
[42:40] just so mom could say, "You missed that
[42:42] and you missed that. Okay, I'm going to
[42:44] go play
[42:46] now."
[42:48] No, mom checked it so you would fix it.
[42:54] And when we give God permission to
[42:56] search us and know us and try us and
[42:58] lead us when he shows it to us, we need
[43:01] to fix
[43:02] it. That's what we got to
[43:05] do. So, have you done that lately? Have
[43:09] you let God search you, know you, try
[43:10] you, lead
[43:12] you? If not, why
[43:16] not? Why
[43:18] not? Are you afraid of what he'll
[43:21] find? Is it already convicting
[43:25] you? I try my best every
[43:30] day to use Psalm 139 in my life that God
[43:35] search me. And sometimes he does that
[43:38] and it's not
[43:39] pleasant and I got to get it
[43:43] right. And sometimes in our life it is
[43:49] uncomfortable when God shows things
[43:52] to us that we need to
[43:58] fix. So would you give God tonight
[44:00] permission to search you, to know
[44:04] you, to try you, to know your thoughts,
[44:09] to see if there be any wicked way in
[44:11] you. Now, tonight we're going not going
[44:14] to have a normal
[44:16] invitation. Right where you're at, would
[44:18] you bow your head right now? Now the
[44:21] altars are open if you want to
[44:24] move. But knowing the omniscience and
[44:26] the omnipresence of God, would you allow
[44:30] God tonight to search you, to know
[44:33] you, to try you, to know your thoughts?
[44:38] Would you give God permission to do
[44:39] that? Some are coming to the front to do
[44:42] business with God, some doing business
[44:43] with God in their seats. You do what God
[44:46] would have you do. Allow God search you.
[44:51] Know me. Try. Know my thoughts.
[45:42] Lord, I pray
[45:44] tonight your
[45:47] omniscience, your
[45:49] omniresence would affect us in our daily
[45:52] life.
[45:55] And Lord, we want to give you permission
[45:57] every day to search
[46:00] us, to know
[46:02] us, to try
[46:05] us, know our
[46:07] thoughts, to see if there be any wicked
[46:09] way in us, then ultimately to lead us to
[46:14] a heart that's right with
[46:17] you. Lord, I pray you'd help us to
[46:19] follow
[46:20] that and to do that every day in our
[46:23] lives. In your name I pray. All God's
[46:27] people said. Amen.
